What do both of them do after dying and waking up on Derse? Argue over which one of them is gonna die AGAIN on a suicide mission to save the session. Both of them won't allow the other to go, Rose in the end dupes Dave out of it to go it alone, and Dave, immediately after waking up, beelines it straight to Rose just to make sure she doesn't have to die alone. And then they reach their destination and realize they got played for suckers all along and die side by side, only to get reincarnated rising out of the core of a motherfucking sun as living gods. And their alpha session companions lead a doomed rebellion against the Condesce and murdered Shaggy 2 Dop and Violent J and Guy Fieri before dying shoulder to shoulder against the batterwhich herself. No matter what session or timeline it is, Rose and Dave go out of their way to die for for their friends entirely out of their own accord, and that's why I love them. And don't get me wrong, I love John and Jade, I love all the beta kids. But let's be honest, John spends 90% of the comic following the instructions of his friends, and Jade barely has time to do anything between being asleep or being brainwashed for most of her screentime. Both of them ascend to godtier through circumstances they made no active choice in. Same with the alpha kids. It's just not comparable.
