His extreme lack of awareness about the wider world, but his sheer wonder of it all. hes the only kid in this entire franchise who was actually excited to play sburb, who had fun playing sburb, who found it fulfilling. its funny, because by playing into the hands of the many people who manipulate him, paradox space, lord english, and even vriska. He acheives a sort of enlightened state of being, where he is the only character in the franchise who is truly free of influence, embodying the aspect of breath completely, and is rewarded with retcon powers to fix things, but at a great personal sacrifice. john is also dont forget, the first substantial death of the series. It is his death that branches into the first doomed timeline, the moment "Shit gets real" its his innocence and wonder being smothered stolen and destroyed by terezi (too be fair it was an accident that she regrets.) that sets the further tone of the series. he is the lynch pin that makes this series work at all. Because without him, there is no character who can take the story and all its bullshit at face value, and make shit happen. At the end of the day, john egbert is the driving force of homestuck. And i feel that every bad part of homestuck suffers because it lacks egbert, or an equivilant, to drive the plot forward. he is my favorite character in homestuck, (second is karkat, who is like the shadow to egberts sonic)
