The original 3 years comic. this was almost a storyboard all on its own. Since i followed a mainly visual medium for the structure, i doodled thumbnails first, wrote the dialog (as there was no narration.) then refined the sketches into something releasable. For the second chapter it was mostly an original plot, so i wrote it first and then did thumbnails. I feel it depends on what you are trying to do and what your focus is. if you wish to have a very strong scene by scene pace, you should storyboard things out so you maintain good pace, especially true over longer fics.but if a fic is just two characters talking about a subject with very little else going on. Free handing it is more welcome, because it allows dialog to be more fluid and dynamic, governed by the whims of how you feel the character would respond in that very moment. I perfer the latter, as its less effort, and people have told me my dialog is natural and has a good feel to it.

And jade....well jade gets shafted like she ALWAYS does in homestuck. Back on some classpecting shit. I was thinking explaining how classes interact with their aspects is probably more intuitive to understand than setting baseline personalities that can get muddy. So I'll try to give some really simple and basic explanations of these interactions, like a few sentences at most. These interactions with the aspect are my personal thoughts of how it works and even through my opinions you can probably view these interactions in different ways. So what aspect will I use as an example for each class? Well, let's make a fake aspect, something really concrete just so there's no misunderstandings and vagueness about what the aspect is or does. Our made-up aspect will be...Mecha. Like a pilotable robot. Bear with me, hopefully this will make sense. To start with, classes have two modifiers to the way their interactions with their aspect happens. How they interact with their aspect and how they interact through their aspect. Keep in mind that some people will only interact with but not through, for others it will be vice versa, and some interact with their aspect both ways. I'll start with the "with", as the "through" will be pretty straightforward when I get to that. As per the way I do this, I will be assuming the class is at its peak when operating with its aspect, as the way I see it, a class operating poorly just leads to a classpect inversion. I'll start with the examples next post.
>>152479777-Becoming Classes->Heir: Inherits their MechaImagine the Heir piloting the mech, even if they've never done it before, the moment they do it, it's second nature, they're a pro at it and it's all really mostly instinct, let's an extension of themselves. It could even get to the point that you might even forget that there's a person piloting the mech, all you see is just a robot doing stuff on its own naturally.>Page: Learns their MechaOn the other hand, you have the Page who struggles mightily with getting the bot to even do anything at first. They try and try and try, and though they fail most of the time, each attempt gets better and better. It's this struggle that leads to their greatest strength, as each failure is engraved into them, they learn what not to do, they learn the best way to use the mecha, not just what it's good at, but what it's bad at as well.-Manipulation Classes->Sylph: Heals their Mecha Mecha's broken? No problem, the Sylph is there to fix it, making sure it's working at peak condition. They should be able to move Heaven and Earth if it meant getting what they need to make sure the mecha is operating as it should. >Witch: Breaks their MechaA Witch looks at the mecha, and instead of seeing a big machine that can be piloted, they see a hunk of metal brimming with potential. Every part of the mecha can be used to make something else. Take the parts, make a boat, make a car, make a gun, they make whatever they want. It's undeniable that the pieces come from the mech, but they've been repurposed outside of their intended use.

They read the instruction manual a million times, they examine each part of the robot twice as much. Using it beyond its purpose, trying to go around that, it might incur consequences, and by God do they know the consequences. They believe that you shouldn't play with the mech, you follow the rules and use it properly.-Bandit Classes->Thief: Obstructs their Mecha No one is more worthy to wield the mecha than a Thief, according to a Thief. No one else should be allowed to touch it, it's theirs for the taking and to use. They act as a barrier between other people and their cool robot. And if they're not already, then brace yourself, because they will be as it's their, and always will be, their turn.>Rogue: Shares their MechaMeanwhile, Rogues think mechas are the coolest fucking thing ever and think everyone should have a go. It's such a useful thing, and if it can make your life easier, you should be able to use it. Okay, maybe not all Rogues are that ecstatic about their mech, they could even be jaded, but they know how much more miserable their life would be without it, so they share it so others can have it easier.

Funnily enough, they might even perceive it as defenseless or without the proper protection it needs. Regardless, it's their duty as a person on planet Earth to make sure no harm befalls the mech, even if they need to wrangle it a bit.-Destruction Classes->Bard: Fucks with their MechaJust by existing, a Bard endangers the safety of the mecha. They might not directly destroy the mech, but a Bard can do many little things that leads its destruction. Maybe they wanted to modify it to look cool, well down the line that modified part might be too weak to sustain itself. They might accidentally insight fear in other people, leading to them wanting to get rid of the big robot for their safety. There's no telling what to expect, and even if it is accidental, but that mech better be wary when around a Bard.>Prince: Hates their MechaNo one despises a bot like a Prince does. To them, it's nothing but a worthless giant hunk of dog shit that has no purpose, no reason to exist. Their vision has been tainted by such an unsightly thing, and they want it removed, so they will do anything they can to get it removed. They don't exactly hide their prejudice for the mech, and the disdain they have for it burns brighter than the stars.
That covers the interactions "with" the aspect, but what about "through" their aspect? Like I said, I think this ones a bit more straightforward. Just imagine each class piloting the Mecha.>Heir: Inherits through their MechaPeople think the mech is cool as fuck and of course they want to be around an Heir, because they're the one with a badass killing machine.>Page: Learns through their MechaTo a Page, being inside that mech is a prison. Everything is so much harder to do. Its strength accidentally breaks things, it loses energy too easily and needs to be charged all the time, their life is made significantly harder because of it, so they need to learn to manage these problems and make use of the mech at what it's good at.>Sylph: Heals through their Mecha A Sylph's job is much easier when they've got a giant ass tool at their disposal. Maybe it has naturally healing features installed, or they can use it to get to whatever it is they need to heal more easily, or they might even take a piece of it for healing purposes. >Witch: Breaks through their AspectWhat's the purpose of a giant battle mech? Mowing people down? Blowing shit up? What about just exploiting things in general. A Witch knows the best ways to use their mech in unconventional ways, things it wasn't intended for, and yet they make it work. Rules and the way things ought to be is just a suggestion for a Witch, and with a mech, they know they can do so much more than what reality, society or whoever else tells them, says they can.>Seer: Sees through their MechaYou can use a giant powerful mech to study things better. Maybe it's got a visor that can see through many things and tell you all you need to know about an object. Maybe its strength can crack open some artifact that holds a secret. Whatever the case, a Seer knows how to use their mecha to further enhance their knowledge.
