Absolutely screams that Hickman didn't know Marvel was cutting it short, and was intended to be picked up by someone else. But even what did occur just felt like half baked ideas for the most part. I liked (some) of this series and all but unfortunately it will just go down in the history books as a flash in the pan short weird experiment the premise was interesting and if it actually delivered it could have been one of the coolest spidey books in the past two decades the every issue is a month thing killed it so hard plus way too much focus at times on secondary/tertiary characters not to mention decompressed storytellingyou guys are gonna shit on me for saying this but I still prefer bendis ultimate peter's run. You ask me Marvel had a golden opportunity to do something vastly different than their mainline, and they blew it. DC said "Fuck it, what would be cool to do with these characters?" and it worked. The only thing that USM had over mainline ASM was the MJ/family dynamic, but only goes so far. Can you imagine if USM started with Richard Parker with AI Peter Symbiote and THAT is what our starting point was? That' not addressing the ongoing issue, but still. Could have had an original Spidey Suit/Venom too
