>>152750697I ship it :3c
>>152750697the second the ship was killed the show tanked in viewershipthat was pretty funny to see, they wouldn't give us the swirl and they payed the price
It's funny because Mariner acts like she's Boimler's age but she's really at least ten years older than him. She acts even younger than that, really.
>>152750697are black women really worth it
>>152752481Don't give us the swirl they don't get the pearl>>152752670Generally no. Generally.
>>152750697Better ship for people with distinguished taste>>152752481there was zero chance this show was going to last longer than 5 seasons anyways. In the end it at least got more episodes than Strange New Worlds and with every new mediocre live action show people appreciate it more.
>>152750697It never was and the fags who thought it was going to be were deluding themselves.
Upper Decks spinoff or Starbase 80 spinoff?>>152752670nerds are worth it no matter what kind
>>152752704The problem with most of nutrek is that it's far too much suffering porn. LD and SFA are the only two nutrek shows to be optimistic and hopeful, while also having serious plotlines in the background. Even PROD was a victim of that. SNW tries to have it's fun episodes, but everyone knows it's ending on a very, VERY dark and somber note. PIC was constant miseryporn, killing off a bunch of beloved characters just for drama, and STD was also dark as shit for 3 seasons before trying to course correct in 4 and 5, but it was too late by then.I'm not saying the gayshit isn't egregious, even now, but it wasn't what killed the shows. It was just a very big wound on an even bigger trauma. Even SFA has a gay main cast member (klingon w/ the tactical skirt), but his defining characteristic isn't how gay he is. It's how much of a loyal, kindhearted friend he is. Compare that to staments & culver in STD. Their defining characteristics were being gay and toxic, rather than chief medical officer & chief engineer. No one on SNW is openly gay, but Spock constantly having to sit in the cuck chair while chapel whores out is tiresome.
>>152750697>aggressively interracialYeah, glad it didn't.
>>152752258TITS OR GTFO
>>152752831Prodigy earns leniency because every kid has good reason to be jaded and turn into self-serving cunts on the frontier. Instead, they follow the Federation's promise and commit to its values. If anything, it served as a great departure from earlier series set in the existing hegemony. They risked everything to make it back to Earth. By God, they did.
>>152752670only if she loves you and you love her too
>>152752831Yeah, honestly, I like Jay-Den so much more than most SNW cast. The debate episode was fantastic. Out of all those you'd think would be a mopey depressive after the news, he takes challenging positions and argues AGAINST the Federation norm. And that's nothing to do with being "based." He holds surprising, revealing character motivations and drives I wouldn't expect from weaker characters. He knows he wants a non-traditional Klingon role and career, but he's NOT giving up on Klingon culture or tradition. And that wedding toast, jeez. I understood why the nuptials couldn't proceed.
>>152752831The problem with SNW isnt that we know what's coming (we know that the show is actually ending with Kirk taking command btw), it's that it doesnt know how to be optimistic and funny. When it tries to do that it becomes a farce. Lower Decks and Academy still feel like they're telling real stories. SNW tries too hard to be good while not being good. I dont think Prodigy was as bad as the others, but it does suck that the show ended right as the dark story finished and we were about to start hopeful episodic adventures. They took too long with the storyline.>I'm not saying the gayshit isn't egregious, even now, but it wasn't what killed the showsanyone who thinks this was never serious anyways. That anon that is convinced people watched Lower Decks to ship Mariner and Boimler is as delusional as all shippers.
>>152752982>>152752831It sucks that the Paramount deal means the show is most likely dead, I'm actually interested in seeing Academy continue to improve. Im not even surprised I liked it more than SNW S3, that was so shit I knew there was no chance SFA would have been worse. Also it's actually doing shit with the era which I like.>>152752889Yeah I think they did a good job showing the journey from Star Wars to Star Trek.
>>1527527637 of 9 spinoff, with Jack Crusher & Q side quests.
The show premise was that she was going to rub off on him and vice versa as they both develop. Pairing either off with anyone else was a stupid idea because it divided them. It could have ended with them as close platonic, in the tradition of previous shows. Also, a fucking Vulcan we didn't even meet in the first season?
>>152752889I agree. I don't have much complaint with PROD's handling, because it was done well. Dal coming to terms with himself that he wasn't ready to lead and needed to rely on others rather than himself was great, and Gwyn taking over doesn't feel like Dal was replaced by a mary sue who didn't earn it. If I had to make a complaint about it overall, it'd be that it canonized nuTrek and ended with the mars colony attack, whereas LD tried to decanonize it by making STD an alternate timeline, which would make everything else alt timeline shit, including SNW, PIC, and SFA, had fucking wesley not re-merged the timelines.>>152752982That was extremely based. Even moreso that Darem taught him how to have the confidence to speak out about what is right, even if that same confidence was used to break up Darem's wedding.>>152752997The LD crossover was probably the most organically hopeful and optimistic the show has been. They had a really good opportunity with the crashed Gorn, but nope. Just as everything works out, they kill off the Gorn who wasn't threatening anyone at all, just because they needed to add drama rather than allowing her to get asylum. It would have cost them nothing to have let her live and then say she's in a secret protection program in the federation somewhere, and then mention that she gave the federation info on the gorns offscreen in a different ep.>>152753039I went in expecting SFA to be bad, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's really sad how poorly it's been received online, mostly because those hating on it haven't even watched the show. They just watched some ragebait youtuber shit on it via targeted nitpicks, and then parrot the negative opinions without giving it a shot. It's ended up my third favorite nutrek show, with LD and PROD coming in first and second respectively. After that, it's SNW then S5 of DIS > S4 > S1/2/3 > PIC.
>>152753125>hating on t'lyntake that back, anon. she's a gem.
>>152753094I'd like a Seven spinoff but hold the Jack.>>152753161The crossover felt like Lower Decks was teaching Strange New Worlds how to be hopeful and Strange New Worlds wasnt listening. Having to spell out to them that you should treat people as individuals and not broad brush a whole alien race, but this is the Xenomorph Gorn show so they cant learn that lesson.>It's ended up my third favorite nutrek showNever expected this take but surprisingly I agree. Im hopeful that just like LD and PRO the show being good can push past the reputation and get a decent fanbase. We'll just have to see.
>>152753255Yeah. I feel like it's going to end up a fan favorite once everything is said and done. There's also hope for s3, since it's not officially been cancelled yet, just not picked up for renewal, and still has the second season to air, despite already filmed and ready to go. I'm also glad they didn't retroactively give a tragic end to the protostar crew, and that the Doctor was just being a moody bitch over his holo daughter dying on voyager. It pisses me off that they brought up the time dilated planet, but then ignored Jason, the doc's ACTUAL kid. But I'm glad he loves his autistic frog daughter all the same. It'd be fun to see the backup EMH make it home, too. He should be on his way home around the time of SFA depending on how long he stayed as chancellor of medicine, and since the Borg have been federation allies for like a thousand years, he can hitch a ride on their transwarp conduits and finish the journey like they did.
>>152753378I never thought it was going to be a sad ending for the Protostar kids I just assumed he was sad he outlived them. And that might still be the case. Im actually a bit annoyed it was only about the holo kid. But I agree, love the new Sam and Im happy for him. I think that there's hope for season 3 too, it depends on how long they take to renew it, for now the sets are still up so it would be the cheapest thing to make if they wanted to make more live action trek. Backup EMH will definitely be in S2
>>152753378You've got a point. My only guess is they could actually pull a clip of the holo-daughter, not Jason.
>>152753426It'd be fine if it was just him being broody about having to have every moment of them fresh in his mind, along with every other crew he's been with, the good AND the bad. Having to simultaneously remember them at their best, and then having to remember their deaths as if they just happened would make him being cold extremely realistic. Yes, he wants to help everyone, but is too afraid to have the emotional attachments he had in the past because of how much the loss hurts. And here's to hoping for the backup EMH and s3+. I don't care if they fire kurz, he's a dipshit, but that doesn't mean they have to just shelve the franchise again for another like 20 years.>>152753430Well since he was never shown and only namedropped the singular time, they could have just used any stock photo. They could have even gone as far as to say that the planet died out because they couldn't realign the entire planet to the normal timespeed, and that it's race are extremely rare since they were forced to flee on generational ships and ended up spread out across the delta quadrant.
>>152752763>>152753094>>152753255Hear me out... Captain Seven spinoff, but with Mariner and Boims as senior officers on her ship.
>>152753521I have no idea what's going on in the mind of David Ellison but I would assume Trek is flagship enough to not get abandoned, I just hope they dont go all in on being like Picard season 3 nostalgia slop. >>152753738I would love this, I could buy Mariner and Boimler not making captain yet by that time, though Tendi is for sure a captain.
>>152753845Or just say they got timewarp'ed and the ~18 year skip was too unimportant for the federation to undo, so they're just stuck with them. That'd allow them to keep everyone as is without needing to age them up to fit. And I don't know if Tendi or Rutherford's VAs look like their chars, so I can't comment on if they'd also be time shenanigan'd or if they'd just use new actors.
>>152753198So great they couldn't think her up in the first season
>>152752831LD was so “optimistic” and “hopeful” it wouldn’t even let the main characters leave the Platonic zone. It really is so uplifting to think that two people who obviously should be together will just go through life with other disposable partners. This is a deeply cynical, millennial mindset.Prodigy did the based thing and has Gwyn and Dal smooching by the end of the first season.
>>152750697They were always going to be just friends, and there was never any plan to make them hook up. You're delusional.
>>152753926I dont think they need to do that, they can feasibly look the same anyways. Just give Quaid a beard. Rutherford's VA does look like him but a bit fatter and maybe shorter. But it could work.>>152754001you should watch CW shows and stop looking to Star Trek for this sort of thing. I guess Starfleet Academy is made for this mindset so I recommend that, and I'm not even being ironic.
>>152754031>Starfleet Academy is made for this mindset so I recommend that, and I'm not even being ironic.Starfleet Academy was made with the exact same mindset as Lower Decks. And don’t even try to argue that Star Trek wasn’t about shippingslop because Lower Decks SPECIFICALLY spent three years pushing and baiting the stupid Mariner lesbian relationship and pandering to Garashir shippers.
>>152754030>still gaslighting two years after the show had endedWhat’s the fucking point? I’m serious.
>still spending every waking moment of his life being buttmad about a Star Trek cartoon because his dumb ship didn't happenShit like this is why people rightfully hate Trekkies.
>>152754098It’s the only thing getting people talking. You should be grateful. These threads would be dead otherwise.
>"You should be grateful that I'm an insufferable cunt who makes people avoid Star Trek threads!"You need to be shoved into a locker. "People" like you are why nerds used to be bullied so much.
>>152754124>shoved into a lockerImpotent seething.
>>152750697I’m going to repeat my question from last thread. What’s the point of making these threads over and over again if it’s just the same exact conversations we’ve had since 2021? How many times are you going to express lust for the same three CalArts stick figures in the exact same way?>omg the green one has huge honkers>omg space Daria>omg brown tomboyFucking move on already. I’m starting to believe this is a genuine marketing ploy because there’s no way in hell this niche ass show warrants such a presence on this board.Stop making these threads. Let NuTrek end. Move on for fuck’s sake.
>152750697So this moron can´t get his meds so he started spamming this dead Rick & Morty crap all over again?
>>152752831>SNW tries to have it's fun episodessandwiching a episode about ethics, murder, ptsd and war crimes between a musical and the lower decks crossover probably wasn't the best idea.
I had no idea shipping was so important to so many people.I thought it was like a /u/ or /y/ thing.>>152754188You're in the wrong place if you hate repetition. LD isn't even that bad compared to the Hazbin Hotel and Digital Circus not-generals consistently on the first page lmao
>>152754188Jesus Christ, I just got here. What moron thinks there's a conspiracy to talk about a show from a popular franchise?
>>152750697i truly didn't give a shit about them being a couple but Tendie and Rutheford? Mad that it didn't happen until the end of the show and even then it was one sided.
We get itYou like shitty soap trekTake it to /tv/This show is ass and dead
>>152754759The difference being more than one person cares about those shows
>>152754068>>152754031SA and Lower Decks share writersI'm pretty sure Tawny Newsome is a lead writer for SA
>>152754803I'm okay with Tawny Newsome acting as a Professor at the Academy. Personally, Dax could have, even should have, died 200 years ago. It's a little boring that the Symbiote is still kicking around.
Is Star Fleet Academy really that good?
>>152754936It depends on how well you tolerate modern TV styling, especially harsh lighting and close-ups. I didn't care for much of the pilot for those reasons. But overall, the characters are excellent. I prefer the Professors over the Cadets, especially Voyager's Doctor and the Jem'Hadar/Klingon hybrid disciplinary officer. Some people don't like Holly Hunter's Headmaster/Chancellor character, but I do. She aims to make amends with one student, and more importantly, truly believes in the mission to teach and transform. She reminds me so much of a university professor I knew in undergrad, it's shocking.
>>152755039* The conventions I didn't like eased off after the pilot, and it's a personal peeve. Not as intense as the lens flare and Dutch angles from early "Discovery," for example.
>>152754936Yes. It's actually really good. I will warn you straight up, however. Jay-den (the klingon) is gay. But the show isn't about him being gay. In episode 1, you're going to see a bunch of DEI that NEVER shows up again. That includes a cadet in a wheelchair with no speaking lines and a fat dyke "teaching liaison" that says like 3 lines and is written off the show. The captain is a lantanite. They are essentially space gypsies, and she's a bit quirky, but is NOT a bad captain. She loves the kids and wants to make right the wrongs of the federation (from DISC). There is a female Jem'hadar father was jem, mother klingon, please give her a chance, she is basically worf with a suicidal sense of humor. Reno from DISC is in this, and is also still gay, but it's not her defining trait. Picardo gives a wonderful performance as the EMH, as always. It's not the typical star trek format, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean it as it's filmed more like a slice of life, rather than an episodic space opera. The first episode might have you doubting it, or it might hook you instantly. If you have doubts, watch episode 2 and 3. If you're partway through 2 and still aren't interested, it might not be your cup of tea, but I think you'll be surprised.
>>152753039There's no saving Academy. It's rotten shit from the roots to the eaves.
>>152752670Don't fall for that the reason she looks cute is because of the cartoon artstyle, black women are not cute.
>>152755129Some are, but they are a minority within a minority, as the cute is despoiled by fatherless behavior.
The Burn was dumb.
>>152755206Agreed. Pure retardium, clearly done to justify an "Uh oh! Look at all this interior strife! We can't write stories about people with authority, so we need the Federation to be a busted up, fallen husk of its former self (and totally not ripping off Andromeda for STD!)"
Is the show worth watching?
>>152755323Yes. The trailers don't do it justice and make it look like a quirk chungus rick and morty ripoff, rather than an actual love letter to star trek that doesn't take itself over seriously. Does a good job of mixing humor, seriousness, and plot while giving the main four, and eventually five, good character development.
>>152755323Depends?Do you like TNG? Do you like it because it's a smart well written show or because you imagine yourself in bad soap operas starring the characters? If the former you'll despise Lower Decks because it's dumb as shit. If the latter you'll love it for the same reason.Anyone that calls it a "love letter to trek" is a shill
>>152754936It's absolute dog shit and has no business calling itself Star Trek. It has fuck-all to do with Star Trek. It's some other script they shoved into Trek. The most recent episode had the villains cover the entire spherical border of Federation space with mines. Do I need to go into why that is incredibly stupid?
>>152755596It was very clearly written and staffed by people familiar with every bit of classic star trek. It's willing to make fun of the stupid shit and praise the good. You're just mad that a warp 10+ salamander was shown at a federation rehab clinic for space accidents.>>152755608>ignoring that they're mines made out of artifically made omega particles, nowhere near as perfect, but equally as destructive to subspace as the real thing, allowing them to mine the federation territory with weapons that can destroy subspace for hundreds of lightyears with just a single bomb>ignoring the season long arc about the space pirate pissed off that the federation ruined his smuggling routesAt least watch the show, faggot.
>>152755644>Wahhh wahhh don't make fun of the shit stupid trek shows that are now dead! Putting mines around 100 square lightyears makes perfect sense! So does a mine having an effective detection radius of multiple lightyears! Nu Trek is fucking retarded and so are you, McMahan. Go write some more episodes about moms raping their sons you fucking drunk.
>>152750697why is almost everything on /co/ about shipping
>>152755695Nigger, did you ever watch Voyager? Did you miss the part where a single research facility that made omega would have taken out subspace within 8,000 lightyears of the blast? With Janeway only assuming 10 lightyears initially, thinking there were only a couple hundred generated, rather than entire fucking chamber full? If you answered 'yes', then you'll realize that a couple hundred mines could effectively collapse subspace around the entire federation, because the federation themselves figured that out 800 years prior when producing a SINGLE molecule of it ruined warp travel through an entire solar system, permanently.Jesus christ. If you're going to bitch about something, at least watch the classic trek episode associated with it so that you actually understand what you're talking about before typing about it.
>>152755695>100 square lightyearsSo about 600 mines using Omega molecules to cover the whole thing.
>>152755755I have a correction to make. The amount of synthesized omega that Voyager beamed up was enough to eliminate 40,000 lightyears, not 8,000. I had to go back and check the episode, and she clearly states that there's enough to wipe out subspace throughout half of the quadrant.
>>152754001> LD was so “optimistic” and “hopeful” it wouldn’t even let the main characters leave the Platonic zone. Not everything is about your shipper shit, anon. The logical extreme of your example is that two characters in literal hell getting tortured for eternity is 'optimistic' as long as one of them gets their dick sucked by the end of it.
>>152755608>>152755644>>152755755>>152755757>>152755781Hold on. Isn't this a fucking TERRIBLE idea? You would never want those mines to go off, because the damage would be nigh-irreversible. This is like making sure that criminals comply with the law by having every cop car carry a nuclear bomb in the trunk and if anyone kills a police officer the bomb goes off.
>>152750697and then kutrzman was like "Trek? enjoyable? fuck that noise! suck it, nerds!"but I think the comics are still going
Genuine question: How would you salvage Star Trek as an IP? How would you make a show that is both Star Trek at its core and appeals to modern audiences?
>>152755847It's a space pirate who did it. They're proximity mines, so anything that passes through the barrier network triggers the mines to blow up. He baited the federation to move the fleet to Betazed in a defensive position, and then activated the trap. The mines going off would effectively cut off the federation from the rest of the galaxy, only allowing them to travel within their own space, and nowhere else. They'd be in a bubble. He's doing this because he wants to control the space outside of the federation and set up an empire where he controlled the space and routes, like how the orions had theirs.

Have 2 or 3 shows, give one the classic formula, make one more modern, make one a cartoon, keep them running for 7 seasons and gain their fanbases. It's not rocket science. They just made too many shows at once and then ran out of money after going through a hundred mergers. Arguably some of the shows would still be airing if Paramount didnt have to cancel a bunch of stuff to get bought by Skydance.>>152755970It's a genuinely interesting idea

They didn't swear unless absolutely necessary, and even then it wasn't anything more than a Damn or Hell, bringing emphasis to such words. Yeah Data said shit, but if your ship was crashing into a planet and there's little chance you're going to survive, ontop of gaining emotions for the first time maybe a few days ago, I think a shit is required.Nutrek feels like modernity, when it should feel like the future.

I just popped into a Trek thread because I randomly came across it but for the most part this website isnt worth using anymore because of all the schizos blog posting. The fact that you can name so many people is a problem.
>>152757229IDW is releasing a new version next Pride so it's prudent to remind people of what happened last time :)
Spamming homophobic chud got NUKED! Love wins, as always. They just can't accept that Star Trek is no longer for them (it never was).
>>152757246Is it a hot take to like this art? The colors at least are nice
>>152757275It's fucking awesome!
>>152757288I cant tell if you're shitposting right now. Also is that a fucking Moopsy? That has to be a plush, but even that would be an odd thing to make a plus out of. I guess you see plushes of dangerous animals in real life.
>>152757356>I cant tell if you're shitposting rightI'm deadass. I'm glad Star Trek nerds had their favorite, sacred cow thing ruined for them by us homosexuals.
>he's STILL bumping the thread with his bitch-ass whiningIt's like watching an eclipse, ya just gotta be there to understand it
>>152757375This doesnt make it any clearer. But Star Trek being a culture war battleground was always really stupid
>>152757412I'm not bumping anything ;)You're clearly too new to tell.
Love Raffi. I'm glad Seven can live her authentic life and a warrior sapphic cyborg princess instead of being some pretendian's trophy wife.
>>152757439Was talking about the schizo who shits up these threads, actually
>>152757469Have you considered just... not making these threads if your widdle feelings get offended? It's going to be the same thing every time every time you do it. It's been like that for four years and it's not going to change.
>>152757469My bad. Get fucked Chakotay lol
>>152757439The art for this one is much less good, this is webcomic tier>>152757501Low blow bringing up her record like that.>>152757488If the solution to a schizo poster being annoying is to bend to them you may as well nuke the entire board
>>152757501I don't care for the loose rotoscope, but that's a personal preference. Worse is Seven throwing around half-jokes about assimilation ~20 years after returning to Earth. Her depiction in PIC was consistent. She's jaded about plenty, but desisted on the "have I mentioned BORG" schtick.
I LOVE WOMEN!LOVE WINS!
>>152757555>If the solution to a schizo poster being annoying is to bend to them you may as well nuke the entire boardThere's totally nothing suspicious about this dead show suddenly getting endless threads after months of radio silence. No siree! Totally organic.
>>152757632>>152754770>Jesus Christ, I just got here. What moron thinks there's a conspiracy to talk about a show from a popular franchise?
>>152757640Yes, yes, Star Trek is extremely popular. That's why LD is suddenly getting endless, extremely active threads despite never being popular on this board to begin with. It's more popular than Hazbin Hotel and Digital Circus combined! No foul play at all!
>>152757133All self inserting is bad. You fuckers are obnoxious as shit with your trash

>>152757667>It's more popular than Hazbin Hotel and Digital Circus combined! It's from a 60-year-old franchise with some of the most fervent, unwashed, free-time-holding fans on the planet. Is this your first week here or something?
>>152757667Even if these threads are thinly veiled ad campaigns, what the actual fuck does it matter? Every thread is essentially advertising for whatever the discussion is about, who cares if the OP is a corp plant or just an eager ST fag? Like, legitimately, what is the issue at play here?
>>152757724Yes, and those fervent, unwashed, free-time-holding fans aren't here, they're in>>>/tv/trek
>>152757724This totally explains why this dead show is suddenly getting endless, extremely active threads after months of radio silence, especially now that /co/ is the least active it's been in months. Thank you, anon. Nothing suspicious happening clearly.
>>152757812>I am clever and not at all an unwashed faggot for ascribing a conspiracy to making threads of a cartoon on a cartoon board, because the cadence and waft of it rubs my autism wrongNigga, what.

>>152757850Shows that died before OP was born get threads all the time, it's /co/. Its just trying to create a conspiracy out of people liking the show even though it didnt confirm his ship
>>152757850No conspiracy at all! This makes perfect sense, anon. I concede that Lower Decks is the most popular cartoon on all of /co/. It's the only way to explain why it's getting all these threads that are more active than threads for other, ongoing cartoons.
>>152757874>the blue lesbian self-insertersJennifer's kind of a cunt. Why do you think she's a stand-in?
>>152757899You don't think that has anything to do with a manic retard you can prod into fabulist claims like "the most popular cartoon of all /co/"?
>>152757874No I wasnt because they didnt post like this and didnt make all of Star Trek about this. When Jennifer fans boil down the entire show to if Mariner and Boimler kiss I'll think they're stupid.>>152757899it's more active because you and the other schizos keep replying dumbass
>>152757905You didn't answer my question. If all self-inserting is bad, I'm sure you were out there dunking on those pesky lesbian self-inserters when they hijacked the show for two years.I trust you're totally consistent in your beliefs and don't have an ulterior motive.
My only opinion on LD is that the uniform designs are kino.

Keep going, retards. The faster we get to the bump limit, the sooner we can all go do different tihng.

>>152758184why are you pretending to be someone else>its weird for a thread on /co/ to be the same discussion over and overyou really are a newfag lol
>>152758191Ramsey never mentioned any of Mariner’s old partners. I don’t blame the autistic sperg sometimes, Mariner x Jennifer really did come out of nowhere.
>mass replies to anyone pointing out shill behavior>only one person could ever hate NuTrek>it's the exact strawman from his imagination
>>152758214I wouldnt say it came out of nowhere, enemies to lovers is the most common trope in the book. But it did make sense they didnt last. It doesnt make sense that Rutherford and Tendi ended the series without getting together though.
>>152758229The only reason anyone could ever hate Lower Decks is over shipping bullshit, obviously. There are no other reasons
>>152758229>pointing out shill behavior"How can a dead show with bog-standard fuck-me-eyes Flash doll animation be popular?" isn't "pointing out" much.
>>152758241>enemies to lovers is the most common trope in the bookEnemies to lovers implies the characters have a long-lasting rivalry/relationship. In this case, this was just Mariner hooking up with a random background character that she only ever interacted with once. Jennifer is interchangeable with any background character.
>>152758241I wish Mainer and Jennifer had more screen time together getting to know each other. As it is, we got them being kind of nasty to Jennifer's friends and terribly catty, that's it. Not that it's unheard-of for people in their 20's, but Jesus. Was there ever a time they seemed to enjoy each other's company?
>>152758293>Was there ever a time they seemed to enjoy each other's company? The only point of that story arc was killing the possibility of a Boimler/Mariner relationship. You expect too much.
>>152758279It's a 10 episode show, it got truncated because all arcs get truncated but they definitely made them interact a number of times, and its implied their bunks were right next to each other as well. It's just that this show was smart enough to say that an enemies to lovers relationship will most likely turn out toxic.
>>152758303>it got truncated because all arcs get truncated but they definitely made them interact a number of timesThey interacted exactly once. Nothing got truncated because nothing was ever planned, this was a last minute addition to pander to some influencer.
>>152758293Maybe in a version of this show with 20 episodes a season but it makes sense a show as economical as this with its time would just put all romance on the backburner. It did hurt the arc though for sure. >>152758322she pushed Jennifer out of the way in that one episode, they had an interaction on the holodeck and another one in the season 1 finale right at the end. It was objectively more than once. A typical rule of 3 and then once more in the episode before they got together
>>152758275>it's popular trust me!!!
>>152758352>search interest in gen pop should totally correlate to the furries, pedophiles, and gender-confused of /co/God damn but you reek of new.
>>152758347>she pushed Jennifer out of the way in that one episodeThis wasn't even in the script. They didn't have a character design in mind for that scene. Titmouse decided to put an Andorian there for shits and giggles. As they were writing S1 and most of S2, there were no plans for some romantic arc. It was an improvised lesbian pandering thing. It's not that deep and it's okay to admit it. It sucked and it was stupid.
>>152758352How irrelevant Smiling Friends is on this chart compared to how big it is online is interesting.
>>152758407At least you can see it. Can't say the same for the other show that is getting pushed here
>>152758395Yes when they write new seasons they think up new things for them, I guess you could call seasons 3 to 5 improvised in that they werent written alongside the first two. I guess T'Lyn was that, it does feel like the writers were blindsided by her popularity.
>>152758420I dont think a show having a fanbase means people are being paid for it, and if people were being paid they'd be on twitter and reddit, as 4chan is irrelevant.
>>152758435>Yes when they write new seasons they think up new things for themYou were claiming this relationship story arc was planned and foreshadowed across the first two seasons. I'm simply debunking your falsehoods.
>>152758463>I'm simply debunking your falsehoods. You need to bathe.
>>152758471>sweaty Star Trek nerd telling other sweaty Star Trek nerd to shower XDI accept your concession.
>>152758463Im not saying it was planned, Im saying it was set up within the show because enemies to lovers is a common trope and they interacted as enemies. The only thing that was planned was them breaking up.
>>152758488>YOUR concessionDifferent guy. Get the soap.
>he has a chart>he actually, honestly made a goddamn chart
>>152758518>they interacted as enemiesYou’ll have a hard time finding characters Mariner didn’t have antagonistic interactions with in S1. The list of characters for potential “enemies to lovers” arcs is quite long. That’s what happens when you don’t rely on genuine character development and instead you resort to stunt writing. It was shit and it’s okay to admit it. The only reason these threads are as shit as they are is because for the past four years anons felt the need the need to defend every single decision the shoe ever made, no matter how shit it is.
>>152758581>anons felt the need the need to defend every single decision the shoe ever made>I was vocal about what I don't like and people disagreedOh nooooo, anything but thaaaat.
>>152758533>spend the last thirteen hours replying to every post in this thread>will keep doing it for hours until thread either dies or reaches the bump limit>wait two days and make another thread where he’ll argue with people for 12 hours>rinse and repeatDifferent guy. Lower Dreck cultists have no self awareness.
>>152758616Then we’ll simply keep doing this until the end of time. I’m down.
>>152758581They could have done enemies to lovers with Jack and I probably would have been interested in seeing where that went. But that's about it. I dont think it's shit, though I would criticize the show for never giving us one more episode of Jennifer and Mariner together. I know its not a shipping show though so it doesnt really matter.>>152758630most revealing reply in the thread
>>152758668One of us will drop dead first. Until then, you’ll never have the perfect circlejerk you desire.
>>152758617>everyone snipping in a Trek forum thread are the same personAs persecution complexes go, not too bright.
>>152758692>implying this is a Star Trek thread
>>152758685I dont care about this at all, Im having a normal conversation with you and when Im done here I can just go talk about the show somewhere else. It doesnt matter to me that you disagree if it means I pass some time talking about star trek. Do you think the fact that you have another opinion than me is pissing me off? Genuinely strange.
>>152752481>the second the ship was killed the show tanked in viewershipStupid shippers will always come back if you dangle the carrot in front of them. If you genuinely ship this and you want the show to come back and you're actively campaigning for it to come back, you just need to know that they won't reward you with anything. They'll just use a potential revival as an opportunity to shit all over you again. It's a "queers for Palestine" tier of delusion. The victory condition is not getting the ship canonized. The victory condition is keeping the show out of Mike McMahon's hands. And that means it has to stay canceled.Every thread, every comment you make, every piece of merch you buy gives them a case to go back and shit over you all over again.
>>152758904I feel like seeing the characters again is inevitable. Maybe not a new show but the Lower Decks guys are the only characters in nutrek anyone cares about. I guess you could argue the Prodigy guys too
>>152758963>I feel like seeing the characters again is inevitableSkydance is going in a different direction. You're likely never going to see characters introduced after 2017 ever again if Secret Hideout loses its contract. From what I heard, they literally own some parts of the IP (story elements introduced after 2017).And that's a good thing. Why would anyone want Mike McMahon to keep raping everything you like about the show (assuming you're a shipper)? Give him another season and he'll give Mariner a trans love interest next. Mike McMahon fucking hates this ship and hates people who ship it. If he has a chance to shit all over these people again, he'll fucking take it.>>152750697>>152752258If you genuinely like this ship, cancel Paramount+ and never buy any piece of official LD merch again. Support fanfic, support fanart. Don't support the show, for the love of God.

>>152759032>You're likely never going to see characters introduced after 2017 ever againthis is delusion and I dont even say that to defend nutrek, just logistically it makes no sense.
