If the original C&A team never lost their bodies but instead just kept on living, and yet it seems like none of the crew besides Kinger had any idea what was going on that means that their discoveries never advanced and proliferated enough to become common knowledge. It's interesting how Jax is the only one to show worry about how Caine might react when the rest of the group refuse to go on an adventure at the start of the episode, when previously he was the most trusting of Caine's good nature. Call me a pussy, but Caine's progressive breakdown all episode genuinely unnerved me. For one I didn't remotely think he was capable of intentional cruelty, and I even felt bad for him at the end of episode 7.But there's something oddly terrifying about the fact that he's not even evil, and it's just that there's absolutely no getting through to him. Meanwhile he has the powers of a god and the imagination of an insane person (Goose) and is extremely pissed off at you, deluded into thinking you're the one making him suffer. And I believe him when he says he feels tormented. AM was the same, Ted's horrific fate is simply a mirror of AM's entire existence.It's just such an unthinkably hellish situation to be in. All the suffering seems so unnecessary but there's no way to communicate through the issue. You're just a fly getting its wings torn off by a curious toddler.

Obviously he's really scrambling to derail her train of thought and avoid being asked in front of everyone the obvious question of WHY he did what he did, and he shuts down the conversation insisting none of it mattered.Which is basically a microcosm of his later Caine torment of being flayed, desperately wanting to avoid feeling exposed in front of the group.

Caine and Bubble are just corrupted from running for too long, Caine in his little office meltdown says “no, I fixed that!” Because he had some kind of stopgap measure created to slow down the process but it was inevitable unless he was rebooted, that’s why he was so exasperated when Zooble suggested to just keep all the adventures open, any AI that runs too long starts to break down.

He was fed fun stuff.The blue dot was another AI like Caine, but he was fed whatever version of Heaven Scratch had in mind.Caine breached his containment and killed the other AI.Scratch scanned his brain and uploaded it so he could live forever, but it was not the world he though, it was Caine's. That's why he seems to be distressed in the flashback.The rest is history.
