What have been the last generally accepted great runs recently. I feel like everyones so split now and I havent seen a really generally loved run.

The last great run I remember everyone universally loved was Matt Fractions Hawkeye
>>
>>152925441
Certainly not this dogshit and you know damn well. Why bait in the OP?
>>
>>152925505
Not bait at all fractions hawkeye is pretty well loved.
>>
>>152925544
It’s actually pretty damn divisive and you know this.
>>
Fraction's Hawkeye ruined the character. He turned Barton into a quirk chungus bumbling loser to prop up Bishop and turn her into the one true Hawkeye. It was no different than countless other books at the time that were shoving these legacy diversity hires in our faces.

Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Manhunter

At least the last one is ending so we know it’ll end on the high note and will probably be considered one of the best books of the 2020s
>>
>>152925441
We haven't agreed on anything, even the older good stuff. Some anons don't even give the most standout runs like Moore's Swamp Thing and Miller's Daredevil their due credit.
That being said, Fraction's Hawkeye has great art but terrible writing.
I think more anons maintain that Immortal Hulk is good, some think it's great. There's also Priest's Deathstroke.
>>
I nominate the first iteration of WaiDDevil
>>
>>152927256
I haven't read it, but I haven't enjoyed anything else by Waid.
>>
>>152925441
Walt Simonson Thor
Judd Winick Outsiders and Green Lantern
Johns JSA and Green Lantern
>>
>>152925441
This run permanently ruined Hawkeye as a character, it is dogshit. You know your run is shit when fucking Bendis of all people did a better job writing the character
>>

>>
>>152925441
Nice revisionism. /co/ was always split on this and after it ended it showed that it had no staying power as a modern classic and just faded away.
>>
>>152926679
You know a run is a classic when every run after it tries play off of the ideas that it introduced and fails miserably.
>>
I think we can all agree that Kate is a qt
>>
If Absolute Martian Manhunter sticks the landing it'll probably be regarded as one of the best comics of the modern era except by /co/ of course
>>

>>
>>152929782
only the art is good the story is boring as fuck imo
>>
>>152929785
I love his Flash, I'll get the third omnibus soon. Him coming back to DC was the best thing ever. Batman/Superman: World's Finest is kino.
>>
>>152926624
Only the first 25 issues or so. After that it’s a train wreck.

>>152926328
QFT this shit was ass, Palmiotti and Conner ruined her with the new 52. This shit didnt do anything they didn’t.
>>
>>152926939
Martian Manhunter maybe but the other two are hardly universally beloved. WW in particular is awful.
>>

These are bad.
>>
>>152927254
>Priest's Deathstroke.
That was only good for the first half. Lazarus Contract was awful and the only good storyline/arc after it was Defiance. After Defiance the entire book turns to shit due to Priest's obsession with Damian being Slade's son.

I can’t speak for everyone, but the last run that held my interest was Hickman’s New Avengers, and that was only for five or six issues where shit actually got done (even if that shit was just destroying the Not Justice League and blowing up a few planets)
BP and Namor at least make the start of the run readable but everything past issue 21ish is a nonsensical slog

>now here come the mentally ill contrarian faggots!
Why are you like this? Why is it always contrarians when someone doesn't like what you like? Don't you understand that when you do this you're basically covering your ears and going lalalala? Things like this kill discussion and the average /co/ user would rather not engage with someone that thinks he can win an argument just by using a buzzword. Of the ones you mentioned I only read around 12-15 issues of Immortal Hulk and found it crap, I reed several issues of Terrifics and found it utterly unremarkable, I read one issue of Jimmy Olsen and found it insufferable as Fraction usually is, I found New Super-man, again, totally unremarkable after several issues. And Cave Carson was boring as hell and Doom Patrol was derivative crap that ended up fucking the whole line up with its crossover. But I'm not "just here" to be "a contrarian and hate on all comics" so I'll tell you what I did like:

From the Young Animal line I found Shade The Changing Girl to be the strongest and actually a very good comics, but it got sucked into Milk Wars and then had an unsatisfying conclusion in Shade The Changing Woman.
I found The Dreaming to be the second best thing Spurrier ever made after Six Gun Gorilla, and I liked his Hellblazer too, albeit not as much as The Dreaming. Hellblazer Dead In America I'm a bit mixed on, it's got good parts but some bad parts too.
I ended up liking that new Lucifer comic despite a lot of reservations going into it but by the end he made it work.
I liked Seven Sons and that same team joined by Gerry Duggan made another mini called This Ends Tonight which was awful.
I liked American Ronin but it was clearly more like "end of part 1" and was supposed to continue past it with other minis but didn't because of low sales.
I liked Batman Dark Patterns and I really liked that they were 3 issue arcs because those are rare now in superhero comics now.
I liked that Peacemaker oneshot by Ennis

i think that a lot of criticism is biased. For example, I believed that making jokes about pop culture, like mentioning famous actors, was instantly something dumb. But then I remembered that many of the old things that I liked did the same thing. Like old runs. If you read old spiderman, you probably remember that picrel isn't the only example. I don't care if redditors or any other retards clapped whenever it happened in the Zimbabwe show, it can be funny. just because something modern is doing it doesn't means that it's inherently trash.
>but
no man, come on

>>152925441
this thread makes no sense. In every single media board, the consensus about almost everything will be divided. Unless you're not considering us. /co/ is probably the best example because the real general consensus is that modern comics suck, period. Even indies. Maybe there are no good comics, or maybe they're not a lot. We rarely have very optimistic posters. What we really have is hype, oh and funny moments, but that doesn't means that the run or event is good. Maybe a better question would be what was the last run that at least 45% of /co/micsfags liked, or something like that.
>>
>>152957829
>But then I remembered that many of the old things that I liked did the same thing.
It wasn't so great then either. I didn't like seeing that in old Spider-Man and FF comics.
And that's not the real issue. Superior Foes is just totally unfunny. Every attempt at humor is so forced, whether it's a pop culture reference or some character quirk. Good comedy is difficult to pull off continuously.
>>
>>152957829
>it can be funny
But it isn't in Superior Foes and it isn't in your example.
>>
>>152957945
>Good comedy is difficult to pull off continuously.
i agree, but I don't think that the page you posted is bad. Listen I don't want to play the gay game of asking you what you like so I can do an ad hominem, but please post something you think is funny so I can understand what's a good example of comedy. Your page feels like a season 2 or 3 Venture Bros joke. But VB is reddit, okay...

>>152958024
It's not funny in that pic, but it makes sense that Peter mentions that. He was juvenile, and annoying when he was fighting his enemies. Those quips were necessary. You people don't dare to use your full repertoire of hollow buzzwords when talking about those old runs, don't be hypocrites
>>
>>152956876

Thet certainly were not, it's just the habit of filling up the page with pointless words.

>>152957945
>It wasn't so great then either.
what do you actually like? have you ever contributed anything in support of comics you actually like?
>>
>>152958784
Not at all, it was part of their character. The real problem was when they remarked obvious things
>He hit me! And now I'm falling! I can't reach anything! If I don't do anything soon then I'll die! I have to think fast!
Or the irrelevant ones like
>Maybe she's sad because (a problem that already had a lot of exposition)
>>
>>152925441
That run was critically acclaimed at the time, but I'd argue it severely damaged Clint's character. So much so that he has never fully recovered. It was also the beginning of Marvel pushing the idea that Kate Bishop is the superior archer and :real" Hawkeye.
>>
>>152959157
