What have been the last generally accepted great runs recently. I feel like everyones so split now and I havent seen a really generally loved run.The last great run I remember everyone universally loved was Matt Fractions Hawkeye
>>152925441Certainly not this dogshit and you know damn well. Why bait in the OP?
>>152925505Not bait at all fractions hawkeye is pretty well loved.
>>152925544It’s actually pretty damn divisive and you know this.
Fraction's Hawkeye ruined the character. He turned Barton into a quirk chungus bumbling loser to prop up Bishop and turn her into the one true Hawkeye. It was no different than countless other books at the time that were shoving these legacy diversity hires in our faces.
Humphries' run on Harley Quinn was the last I saw the character be great before they made her an ugly dyke propaganda piece.
Immortal hulk
This will be my final post /co/
>>152926502>>152926624That good huh
>>152925441Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman, and Martian ManhunterAt least the last one is ending so we know it’ll end on the high note and will probably be considered one of the best books of the 2020s
>>152925441We haven't agreed on anything, even the older good stuff. Some anons don't even give the most standout runs like Moore's Swamp Thing and Miller's Daredevil their due credit. That being said, Fraction's Hawkeye has great art but terrible writing.I think more anons maintain that Immortal Hulk is good, some think it's great. There's also Priest's Deathstroke.
I nominate the first iteration of WaiDDevil
>>152927256I haven't read it, but I haven't enjoyed anything else by Waid.
>>152925441Walt Simonson ThorJudd Winick Outsiders and Green LanternJohns JSA and Green Lantern
>>152925441This run permanently ruined Hawkeye as a character, it is dogshit. You know your run is shit when fucking Bendis of all people did a better job writing the character
>>152928072No to all of them.
>>152928172Can just say you never read any of them
>>152926128>I don't actually read comics I just get information from shit posting and memes then I get MAD!
>>152928268He's right though it did ruin Hawkeye and he still hasn't recovered
>>152925441Nice revisionism. /co/ was always split on this and after it ended it showed that it had no staying power as a modern classic and just faded away.
>>152926679You know a run is a classic when every run after it tries play off of the ideas that it introduced and fails miserably.
I think we can all agree that Kate is a qt
If Absolute Martian Manhunter sticks the landing it'll probably be regarded as one of the best comics of the modern era except by /co/ of course
>>152927807your a typical waid hater no one here has actually tried his books you all just love to complain about him because of his twitter activity
>>152929782only the art is good the story is boring as fuck imo
>>152929785I love his Flash, I'll get the third omnibus soon. Him coming back to DC was the best thing ever. Batman/Superman: World's Finest is kino.
>>152926624Only the first 25 issues or so. After that it’s a train wreck. >>152926328QFT this shit was ass, Palmiotti and Conner ruined her with the new 52. This shit didnt do anything they didn’t.
>>152926939Martian Manhunter maybe but the other two are hardly universally beloved. WW in particular is awful.
>>152927254>I think more anons maintain that Immortal Hulk is good, some think it's great. There's also Priest's Deathstroke. These are bad.
>>152927254>Priest's Deathstroke. That was only good for the first half. Lazarus Contract was awful and the only good storyline/arc after it was Defiance. After Defiance the entire book turns to shit due to Priest's obsession with Damian being Slade's son.
>>152929785>yourMark Waid isn't gonna fuck you, saaaaaaaar
>>152925441Spider-Woman drama plot ruined it
>>152926328This
>>152925505it was well loved during early 2010s stop lying on 4chan.
>>152926624even more overrated that matt fraction hawkeye.
>>152929845>WW in particular is awfulExplain?
>>152930656It's basically vanilla WW but with an edgy backstory and a more interesting plot than she's had in decades. This makes some /co/mrades very very upset for some reason.
>>152930696Because /co/ was predicting Abs would absolutely flop and you know not become a breakout success.
>>152930634Eh.
>>152925441The nature of this board means that someone is always going to be the contrarian, you can find someone who claims to hate even the most universally loved runs. Come on, who wants to be the one to claim that Lee, Ditko, and JRSR’s ASM is actually shit?
>>152929835> After that it’s a train wreck.Wrong.
bump
christ you faggots are insufferably miserablenone of you like ANYTHING
Fraction's Hawkeye is shit. I submit pic related
>>152934250I like si spurrier x-force the one with cable and hope from 2013-2014. Probably the most underrated book from the previous decade.
>>152929880Immortal Hulk is good but Prieststroke is bad.
>>152935173Did Marvel release an omnibus of Cable & the X-Force?
>>152935867Immortal Hulk is bad from the beginning, Priestroke is good for about 10 issues before it becomes bad.
>>152932372>who wants to be the one to claim that Lee, Ditko, and JRSR’s ASM is actually shitI don't like it. It's too clunky and I don't like Spider-Man.
>>152930723All the absolute books other than Batman are selling 50-60K. That’s hardly a success.
>>152934250what do you like fellow faggot
>>152925441I really enjoyed Jed Mackay’s moon knight
>>152937094It's bad too.
>>152936908He posted that exact reply in another thread >>152933949
>>152937094>>152937991Really bad. The dialogue and the art are so terrible, I can't begin to care about the story or characters.
>>152939581You posted the most page of all time to prove this point
>>152934250I like many things! Like Venditti's Hawkman, that was a good time.
>>152939609>the most page?
>>152937094This.
>>152928936No it doesn't, Kate Bishop appears in two stories, the whole run is centered on Clint.
For the 3 anons that read it, New Super-man.
>>152940072No I meant that he's right about it ruining Clint, which it did. The whole run is centered on ruining Clint
>>152940090It's also shit.
Bump
>>152934967We need the seething smart ass Clint back
>>152925441Nothing.
>>152935904I don't think so, Also cable and the x-force was another run.
>>152940090I agree both run are great, add sideways and dial h for hero with supermiguel.
Remender's Uncanny X-Force is goated
>>152942551Horrible taste. Those are three pieces of shit.
>>152942735Agreed.
>>152928262NTA, but I read Simonson's Thor and it's not that good.

>>152928072>Judd Winick OutsidersHilarious how that was just a Titan book.
>>152939581This shit looks worse than a free manhwa. Garbage art. None of the brushe work/rendering matches.
>>152945049>y-you have to be a contrarian to disagree with meThis is such an insane level of narcissism I do like future quest and the terrifics, and the first half of ewing’s defenders but the rest of what you listed is genuinely pretty shitty.
>>152945850>>152945049Forgot New Super-Man I like that one too. The rest are still shitty.

>>152941936I honestly miss it so much
>>152945049Can't speak for all of it but I did enjoy Ewing's GOTG a lot. His SWORD was one of the better Krakoa books too
>>152947215It's unfunny as heck.
>>152947547Name 3 funny comics from the last 10 years

>>152949251It's not shitposting, it's my honest opinion.
>>152925441this shit was awful
All I got from this thread is no comic ever has been even half way decent
>>152950324post your personal choice for 5 best comics ever
>>152926624YO SOMEBODY GET THE DOOR
>>152925441I can’t speak for everyone, but the last run that held my interest was Hickman’s New Avengers, and that was only for five or six issues where shit actually got done (even if that shit was just destroying the Not Justice League and blowing up a few planets)BP and Namor at least make the start of the run readable but everything past issue 21ish is a nonsensical slog
>>152950538Including limited series and graphic novels or just runs? Big Two or can they be from different publishers? Anglophonic or are comics from around the world allowed?
>>152942539this
>>152950399i liked the art
>>152952764I thought it was fine, but that writing is unbearable.
>>152929710hell yeahI just read this today, and this outfit with the hips cut out is my favorite.
>>152952764The art is fine, Clint's redesign was gay though
>>152947215It's a comedy comic that is not funny. Literally redit humor.
>>152945049>now here come the mentally ill contrarian faggots! Why are you like this? Why is it always contrarians when someone doesn't like what you like? Don't you understand that when you do this you're basically covering your ears and going lalalala? Things like this kill discussion and the average /co/ user would rather not engage with someone that thinks he can win an argument just by using a buzzword. Of the ones you mentioned I only read around 12-15 issues of Immortal Hulk and found it crap, I reed several issues of Terrifics and found it utterly unremarkable, I read one issue of Jimmy Olsen and found it insufferable as Fraction usually is, I found New Super-man, again, totally unremarkable after several issues. And Cave Carson was boring as hell and Doom Patrol was derivative crap that ended up fucking the whole line up with its crossover. But I'm not "just here" to be "a contrarian and hate on all comics" so I'll tell you what I did like:From the Young Animal line I found Shade The Changing Girl to be the strongest and actually a very good comics, but it got sucked into Milk Wars and then had an unsatisfying conclusion in Shade The Changing Woman.I found The Dreaming to be the second best thing Spurrier ever made after Six Gun Gorilla, and I liked his Hellblazer too, albeit not as much as The Dreaming. Hellblazer Dead In America I'm a bit mixed on, it's got good parts but some bad parts too.I ended up liking that new Lucifer comic despite a lot of reservations going into it but by the end he made it work.I liked Seven Sons and that same team joined by Gerry Duggan made another mini called This Ends Tonight which was awful.I liked American Ronin but it was clearly more like "end of part 1" and was supposed to continue past it with other minis but didn't because of low sales.I liked Batman Dark Patterns and I really liked that they were 3 issue arcs because those are rare now in superhero comics now.I liked that Peacemaker oneshot by Ennis
>>152954389try posting again without relying on buzzwords
>>152950953quit stalling and just answer the question>>152954550a hit dog hollers
This thread got like 50 replies and only like 6 runs were mentioned
>>152928936What is Clint up to nowadays
>>152956502It has over 100 replies and some really shitty runs mentioned.
>>152954550Much better.
>>152945833fuck you're right
>>152955565>>152947215>>152954389i think that a lot of criticism is biased. For example, I believed that making jokes about pop culture, like mentioning famous actors, was instantly something dumb. But then I remembered that many of the old things that I liked did the same thing. Like old runs. If you read old spiderman, you probably remember that picrel isn't the only example. I don't care if redditors or any other retards clapped whenever it happened in the Zimbabwe show, it can be funny. just because something modern is doing it doesn't means that it's inherently trash.>butno man, come on>>152925441this thread makes no sense. In every single media board, the consensus about almost everything will be divided. Unless you're not considering us. /co/ is probably the best example because the real general consensus is that modern comics suck, period. Even indies. Maybe there are no good comics, or maybe they're not a lot. We rarely have very optimistic posters. What we really have is hype, oh and funny moments, but that doesn't means that the run or event is good. Maybe a better question would be what was the last run that at least 45% of /co/micsfags liked, or something like that.
>>152957829>But then I remembered that many of the old things that I liked did the same thing. It wasn't so great then either. I didn't like seeing that in old Spider-Man and FF comics. And that's not the real issue. Superior Foes is just totally unfunny. Every attempt at humor is so forced, whether it's a pop culture reference or some character quirk. Good comedy is difficult to pull off continuously.
>>152957829>it can be funnyBut it isn't in Superior Foes and it isn't in your example.
>>152957945>Good comedy is difficult to pull off continuously.i agree, but I don't think that the page you posted is bad. Listen I don't want to play the gay game of asking you what you like so I can do an ad hominem, but please post something you think is funny so I can understand what's a good example of comedy. Your page feels like a season 2 or 3 Venture Bros joke. But VB is reddit, okay...>>152958024It's not funny in that pic, but it makes sense that Peter mentions that. He was juvenile, and annoying when he was fighting his enemies. Those quips were necessary. You people don't dare to use your full repertoire of hollow buzzwords when talking about those old runs, don't be hypocrites
>>152956876name some good runs then
>>152958390>Those quips were necessaryThet certainly were not, it's just the habit of filling up the page with pointless words.
>>152957945>It wasn't so great then either.what do you actually like? have you ever contributed anything in support of comics you actually like?
>>152958784Not at all, it was part of their character. The real problem was when they remarked obvious things>He hit me! And now I'm falling! I can't reach anything! If I don't do anything soon then I'll die! I have to think fast!Or the irrelevant ones like>Maybe she's sad because (a problem that already had a lot of exposition)
>>152925441That run was critically acclaimed at the time, but I'd argue it severely damaged Clint's character. So much so that he has never fully recovered. It was also the beginning of Marvel pushing the idea that Kate Bishop is the superior archer and :real" Hawkeye.
>>152959157It's too much dialogue for one panel. And in the end he's not saying anything.
>>152959396>It's too much dialogue for one panelThat's not my point, its another topic. And I doubt that this is a huge improvement in that department
>>152959599Here, I fixed it.
>>152959651still wordy
>>152959651This is the sweet spot. Spidey is a quipping motherfucker, so this makes sense.

>>152956547Last I saw he was in that digital only Avengers book. Before that he was on a "Thunderbolts" book where no one took him seriously and Luke Cage was treating him like an idiot. Before that he was in Kelly Thompson's pathetic excuse for a WCA run where he was basically the washed up old guy hanging around with a bunch of young adults
