I feel like of all the ships to be disserviced by Hussie (which is all of them but regardless) the one to get it worst was Rosemary. It was built up so much by the fans before it became canon, it was practically obligatory to make it canon with all the momentum behind it. For that reason I think Hussie came to resent it, just like everything else that he felt tacitly pressured to do because of the fandom, and it crept into his writing by having every Rose/Kanaya interaction after the kiss be either antagonistic or conciliatory, but never cute, never anything that shows them being an actual couple. Another thing which bothered me, which is a problem with a lot of ships in media, not just exclusive to Homestuck, is that it flattened both characters so badly, especially Kanaya. Everyone remembers their pesterlogs during act 5, but what do they do or say to each other in act 6 that is remotely interesting, funny, or romantic? Yeah, they get married in the credits, mazel tov, but what happened between that and their first kiss? Apparently nothing noteworthy to the narrative itself. I swear, when people talk up Rosemary as being the yuri ship of all time, they're actually thinking of all the fanfic and fanart they consumed, not the actual contents of the comic itself, which is as flat and unremarkable as Rose's breasts.
