Someone who is adherent to the light side is inherently balanced. Balance between the light and dark is not about people or wielders of the Force, it's about the Force itself, the Force in it's natural state. The Dark Side will always exist because the things that create it are natural parts of life. But actively using it is inherently wrong and makes someone unbalanced.

Most of the Disney Star Wars shows needs a lot of homework and the Bad Batch is not an exception. You're dealing with Rex, Cody and Saw to the point where you really need to be aware of those characters to get a full understanding. Then there's stuff like the Ryloth arc, Ventress returning, and just a general idea of the clones' role in the Clone Wars. You probably don't realise how much the show relies on TCW because that knowledge is so ingrained.

The only shows that you can watch blind are Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, but those have other problems.

I just watched the reveal scene to double check and it's really just half a minute of him saying a Jedi trained him and then was sadistically killed. Jedi were introduced in the story as mythical warriors, so you don't even have to watch A New Hope to understand Jod's motivation. Obviously it's more meaningful if you know about Order 66 and he Inquisitorius, but that isn't required knowledge by any stretch.

The difference is we knew next to nothing about anakin's fall, the clone wars or the republic so there was interesting material to explore even if it was handled very poorly. The movies themselves were a waste of time but the concept wasn't. And maul's arc in TCW wasn't a waste of time because it explored the character more after having two lines of dialogue in TPM. But so far this show has been kind of a rehash of plot points from other shows.

I don't think Shadow Lord has been bad (see >>153218946) but the entire project of reviving Maul and dragging him across The Clone Wars, Rebels, and now this series in-between has never engaged me. Shadow Lord has been entertaining almost despite the premise, which is why I suspect my interest will evaporate once more lightsabers start popping up like erections in a middle school hallway.

Maul surviving into Episode VII would have itself been laughable, but it would've at least presented a significant terminus and more room for Maul to have had transformative experiences. Something like this show culminating in his death via Guinness-Wan or even Vader would have been more appropriate that cramming it into Rebels, but that's too little too late.

The idea of someone desperately trying to achieve it in the absence of the Jedi--in this case the absence of a particular Jedi--is a good one, but it makes more sense for somebody struggling with their sense of purpose or identity. Sabine was already a resolute Mandalorian warrior with skills at least as useful as the average Jedi's.
