Regarding >>153328201 why do all Atla inspired shows end up being shit? Avatar had pretty good writing and was the only "faux anime" cartoon that got close to being as good as my favorite anime. Why did none of the following cartoons that tried to do a serialized storytelling format live up to it?
>>153334839>These faux-anime shows like Castlevania are inspired by ATLA.No, they're not. They're inspired by anime. That's why we call them faux-anime. ATLA is a cut above the rest because it's not trying to be an anime. It's trying to be ATLA.
>>153334839They just care about artstyle and superficial things while having shitty writers.I feel like in general there is a crisis of shit writing in cartoons. Probably due to these new writers only ever interacting with the world trhought cartoons and fandoms.
>>153334839>Castlevania>Devil May CryChanged too much of the story and pissed off fans.>Voltron>She-RaToo much gay.>He-Man RevelationsNever watched it.>Vox Machina>The Mighty NeinQuippy le deconstructions of fantasy for the millionth time.>Gabriel & The GuardiansPaywalled behind niche Christian streaming site.
>>153334942>No, they're not. They're inspired by animeThey wouldn't be a thing if atla didn't raise to popularity. >ATLA is a cut above the rest because it's not trying to be an animenone of them try to be an anime though. Most of those have western conventions and tropes and even voltron, a literally anime adaptation, feels nothing like the original. hell Atla was inspired by flcl and cowboy bebop more than any of those shows.

Atla is not THAT good.
>>153334979Was Blood of Zeus really that forgettable?
>>153334979Seems about right. I'd go with this.
>>153334839>Why did none of the following cartoons that tried to do a serialized storytelling format live up to it?Could it be because, although the characters live in the medieval era, they all speak like Twitter teenagers?
