Nintendo should have re-released Starfox Zero with better controls and made a completely new game in the Zero continuity. It's easier to port a switch game and you'd still get a new generation of kids into the series after the Mario galaxy movie came out. That way you don't flush a bunch of resources into a new game and it's a better investment than this upcoming release. Then if a Zero remaster does well, you can continue the story from there and include everything from previous games fans liked besides all the 64 remakes. Even if the remaster has middling sales, you can still use it as a launchpad for a second game in the timeline if Nintendo is still interested. That way you can add characters and concepts from the OG timeline and the 64 timeline into one continuity. Writers won't be shackled by Command and can do whatever they want from that point on
