>Ruins superheroes, comics, and pop culture as a whole for 40 years
Why did he do it?

because he's an anarchist

leftists have an inherent hatred of anything lighthearted and low-brow

>Be Alan Moore.
>Write a bunch of decent comics.
>Be celebrated.
>Industry doesn't bother to build on top of my comics.
>Industry then crashes.
>Industry constantly holds up my comics as some life raft of relevancy.
>Creators learn the worst lessons they can from my comics making things terrible.
>People then blame me, not those creators who ruined things.
>Get screwed over by people I considered friends.
>Still write comics.
>Still talk to fans and sign comics.
>Then the Watchmen movie happens, DC use my friend's brother's terminal illness against me, DC uses my friends against me.
>Finally break a little and give some shitty interviews and quotes.
>People take these quotes out of context to shit on me.
>Irl, in interviews and in general, be a decent soft spoken witty guy.
>But because of out of context quotes people think I'm an angry old man.
>Have most of my opinions of mainstream culture be proven correct.
>Still love comics but just hate the industry.
>Move on and start writing novels and enjoying my own little projects.
>People still endlessly shit on me because they're mad that I did produce good stuff but they also feel like my comments were shitting on them.

I never said he was smart. I said he made some good comics. Then the industry shit the bed and ruined things, not him. He has justifiable reasons for why he dislikes the industry. His comments were proven right about mainstream culture. Alan Moore threads are mostly just bait because people haven't met him or read interviews, they just want to get mad because he is a lefty who likes talking about some fanciful things about consciousness and who called superhero fans fascist man children enjoyers or whatever. It is all the same boring shit. A lot of his work is still good and still stands up today.

And really to me, that is sad, because like I said, his work should have been built upon, improved, and then forgotten about. Instead it was dissected for spare parts until all meaning was lost. All so those same people could shit on him and blame him for the fact things went to shit, even though they caused it. People think Alan Moore is sensitive or whatever, but when you see the thin skinned fucks in the industry recoil at whatever light bit of Moore criticism sent their way you see who the real sensitive people are. People are just too wrapped up in narratives and kayfabe to see the forest for the trees.

He never identified himself as an anarchist before 89. He did it all as an outspoken marxist
>>
>>153618122
You can't ruin what's already fucked. Its not his fault that most comic writers are trend chasing idiots.
>>
Honestly mumen rider from one punch man ruined superheros for me more than moore ever could have
I've never seen another comparable genuine heroic character who's also weak and it bugs the shit outta me
>>
>>153618122
moore is an accelerationist communist who infiltrated the capitalistic machine that was the 80s comic industry in order to make the conditions of coomsuing nerd culture unbearable in order to push for collapse. Its honestly genius
>>
>>153618222
This post is so fucking stupid since part of the reason he hates modern comic is because it got overly serious and boring.
>>
>>153622052
Moore keeps changing what he's mad about. These days he says superheroes are a fascist white supremacist fantasy and that they were meant to entertain 12 year old boys in the 20th century and should go away so new things can take their place (just not Harry Potter which he also hates).
>>
>>153622368
>Moore keeps changing what he's mad about.
Not really, no. He's been pretty consistent.
Moore's problem is that instead of people growing out of comics and moving on they instead chose to turn comic books into adult oriented works and kick out children and the younger generations.
>>
>>153622433
He doesn't think superheroes should be made for today's children either.
>>
>>153622052
leftists are also well-known for being malleable liars
why are you treating anything he says with any veracity?
>>
>>153622446
In the way they're handling them now I'd agree.
There aren't many if any positive messages in modern comics and feed on the nihilism prevalent in the world.

Leftwingers believe the idea of fighting crime is bad.
>And I think that another way superheroes are insidious is that their values seem to seep into the real world. Everybody wants to be a superhero. That Elon Musk used to sort of glory in the idea that he was the real life Tony Stark I believe, as his admirers called him. That even when Donald Trump released his non-fungible tokens a few weeks ago, I saw that he’d got one of them with himself as a superhero with eyebeams, looking like something out of The Boys. The “superhero dream” is a dangerous thing, because essentially it’s fascism.
>>
>>153623144
>"Malicious, powerful conmen with cults of personality are using superhero imagery to whitewash their insidious power fantasies of total control over the population"
>oMg YoU tHiNk FiGhTiNg CrImE iS bAd!!!!1!!
And right wingers believe the idea of reading comprehension is for fags.
>>
The only thing I like about Alan Moore is how he makes retarded political tourists on /co/ out themselves.

You can just look at the policies of big city DAs that they see locking up street criminals as bad thing to do.
>Mostly what they do is get involved in fights. You have to think that for a lot of the audience, it is the idea of being invulnerable in some way, and to have an advantage over other people. I mean that is the root of what superheroes have become. I don’t think that it was always that. I think in the particular case of Superman, you’ve got a character that was invented by two working-class teenagers from Cleveland in the middle of the Depression, who created a character that was an empowerment of a disempowered working-class community.

>He was an immigrant, like most of them, but he was not forced to dress in the drab browns and grays of most of the other people on the 1930s breadlines. He was wearing bright primary colors and he could leap over the streets that they were having to trudge down looking for work. The early Superman beat up strikebreakers, and threw a slum landlord over the horizon. Obviously, that Superman didn’t last a long while. He was pretty soon taken from his creators and made a much more socially respectable middle-class and right-leaning character.
And now he's gone back to his roots in Absolute Superman, but Old Man Moore still hates it.
>>
>>153618122
What's ruining comics isn't moore but the people who won't move on from his most popular work and read something else. I didn't really like Watchmen but he is a good writer and Miracleman is a great comic.
>>
>>153623623
And you can look at the countless corrupt sheriffs/ police departments in rural conservative areas and see that yes, right wingers will abuse any hint of power they get while wrapping themselves in "warrior/ protector" imagery to justify it
>>
>>153623802
Power attracts people who would abuse it crosses ideological lines.
Point remains that Alan Moore sees the very idea of punching criminals into submission as fascist action, and not something that children of any age should be exposed to.
>>
>>153618511
>His comments were proven right about mainstream culture.
which comments and who proved them
>>
>>153623802
occultism and woo is fascist because the nazis liked it. therefore alan moore is a fascist.

the problem isnt allan moore its people who walked away from watchmen thinking rorschach was cool and based cus he brooded. Then those people wrote comics where theyre protagonists where cut from rorschachs cloth but the narrative praised them for that. So "dark" comics became a delusional school shooter power fantasy as opposed to a serious exploration of any themes or ideas.

tldr: people read watchmen and wrote all star batman instead of foolkiller 1990
>>
>>153624404
Foolkiller was so good. Gerber liked Moore's approach to superheroes.
>>
>>153624404
Dark Knight Returns predates Watchmen by a few months though I've read claims that Miller made it more political because of what Moore was doing there.
>>
>>153618317
>>Creators learn the worst lessons they can from my comics making things terrible.
They never learned anything from Moore, despite pretending to do so.
>>
>>153624639
Miller and Moore started hanging out before their respective big works were completed. They may have exchanged ideas.
>>
>>153618122
Comics were already declining when Moore arrived to America. He tried to warn the industry that the path they were following was wrong but nobody listen.
>>
>>153623623
>He was pretty soon taken from his creators and made a much more socially respectable middle-class
Why do "new wave" British writers hate the middle class?

But then you look at the big city and realize the sheriffs and cops are right.
>>
>>153618660
You certainly do. Go ahead and spend the rest of your day telling me otherwise.
>>
>>153624983
Because they *are* the middle class. In that period of time it was extremely cool to pretend to be as poverty stricken as possible.
Of course - they did nothing to prevent the further loss of British industry and on reflection, appear to morally agree with it.
