Jax is a cautionary tale, not a redemption story - and that’s been pretty blatantly telegraphed for the last 2-3 episodes.
>>153770289I might sounds stupid and or preachy for saying this, but I think what Goose might be going for in a meta sense is telling people “Don’t be like this guy, reach out and talk to others.” It’s like a morality tale that teaches people they need to do x and not y, and the character who performs the wrong actions serves as an example of what not to do. Maybe having his abstraction/death/suicide be permanent reinforces this.

It’s sad and it’s tragic, but it’s exactly the ending the character has been driving headlong into.

There's more to be said about his philosophy, and people being compelled by his character wasn't a mistake. Most Jaxfags just want to say "oh, he's just such a hurt little boy. Look at his fucked up psychology." But that's not the angle I saw in the show at all.Further, people way overstate the bullying Jax does and understate the comeuppance he constantly gets. He basically recieves the Squidward treament the whole show.We see him bound and gagged by Ragatha, pressured with violence into a friendship he didn't want with Pomni, sexually assaulted by Zooble(Arguably Gangle too. She voted for it), and who knows what the fuck Gangle did to him in the Clockwork Orange scene to get him to obey her.It's one thing to measuredly punish Jax for his transgressions. It's another to justify doing anything you want to him. We have laws against cruel and unusual punishments for a reason.Jax has a bad reputation, but when you ask people specifically what their problem with him is, it's like: "oh, he threw Zooble into a volcano. He deepfried Ragatha." And the characters there don't even feel physical pain the same way. Ragatha can just get impaled by a peanut brittle spike randomly and she's fine psychologically. The mental damages inflicted are what matter in the circus, and Jax has suffered way worse due to the actions of other characters. Only Pomni and Kinger weren't cruel assholes to him. But whatever, that's just the surface problems at a glance.
