Maybe I’m looking too much into it, but... does this not seem weird to anyone else? Lute has been described as rock, goth, with a little bit of metal; her musical palette has been said to be similar to Adam’s, but distinctly her own... and then her audition song is some R&B/pop song? Like, that feels weirdly specific. It's like they were either undecided what kind of genre she was going to get, or they were going to originally do something different with her.

If you look at the other characters’ audition songs, they generally make sense for who those characters actually are in the show. But Lute gets “Salute” by Little Mix? Why the hell would that be the choice? I know the hardcore deniers go, “Well, she’s military-coded, so they picked a song called Salute.” I don’t buy that shit. That song is explicitly about female empowerment and solidarity between women, which is ESPECIALLY interesting because Lute, as we know her, is absolutely NOT a girl’s girl. It's weird they chose something that emphasizes women as a concept for a character who is outwardly hostile toward other women.
