And this also treats relevance as some zero sum game. That for some people to be important means others can't be. When a good writer can find things for the characters involved to do. And those who can't, get written out. Hussie *did* this with so many, and even jade. But the difference is that Jade was *promised* to be important. but all of it goes unfulfilled. Hussie very much does not believe in the concept of trust between author and reader, and encourages the opposite, yet he does not realize how this negatively effects everything else.Rose is similarly shafted for most of act 6, but not only was she one of the biggest players pre act 6, she is also someone who is at least given cursory participation awards, unlike jade. Rose gets a girlfriend, and sure, she is made to squander her at every opportunity, but its something. Rose is never kicked while she is down, in fact the worst thing that happens to her is actually framed as a good thing. Rose being prevented from developing alcoholism by Vriska of all people is actually some of the worst character assassination possible, other than that tho, she isn't even treated *that* badly.
