>>

Shit like this is actually pretty common around where I live if you get down close to the river. They just put whatever they can up on stilts. Lots of times you can see the progressive additions of random out-buildings and extra rooms made of different materials or some where it looks like two people built a bridge between their shacks. My favorite is the one with a school bus just sticking out of one side. Wish I had a picture of it.

Anytime I see a range next to a fridge, I know it's a shitty renovation and that's probably the least troubling thing they did. This one gets bonus points for the weird sink placement. Think this type of thing happens a lot when they try to convert an old house into an open floorplan
>>
>>2781232
It's not always a shitty renovation. My house was built in the 60's and the mother in law area has the mini stove right next to the fridge. It's a shit design since it heats up the side of the fridge quite a bit.

no, wait, supposing you have only that space to work with it is the best placement, if you put either the sink or oven in the long place you lose a neat counter to work in, pic related way you wash and leave the dishes to the right and the oven is in an ok place, you should compensate with a good insulation tho

A lot of their problems there are they've gone out and bought a fucking massive fridge that looks like it was made for a catering company or you have to feed a family of 8 out of it. The oven itself is also on the larger side as well which isn't helping either, especially with no extractor over the hotplate range so the whole thing will load up with smoke and steam.
Literally if the fridge was half the size and just put a small utility cupboard between them it wouldn't nearly be as fucking awful.
Like there's even two of the top cupboards behind the damn thing and who the fuck knows what's happening there

If they made it rise out of the counter it would have been a great design.
>>

i would love to buy a house with this "problem". it would probably be cheaper than market average for a similarly sized/located home because of this issue, but not affect me in the slightest and be funny and cool. my garage is a shop first, and a spot to park my motorcycle in the rainy months second. my cars are all outdoor pets.
imagine having the garage door open while you build a new patio builtin in the summer, with the entrance shaded. you could grab your beer and plonk down in a chair under the shade to take a little break. based.
and giving directions to get delivery people to find your place would be easy as fuck. "front door found to left of massive tree that blocks my car into the garage and makes me late to work"
>>
>>2781909
there are obviously better places for it, but.. i can't find it in myself to actually hate this for some reason.
you could use it as a lectern to address your family in the kitchen and deliver your quarterly financial forecasts.

Shit's so STUPID I'm starting to think it's a jewish invention so goys prefer to eat microwaved slop.

It makes me wonder why they didn't go to the effort of doing that, get a roughly ubiquitous shape, size and depth for the appliance. Then it can just tuck down into the bench when you don't want it, because they spent quite a lot of money in there and the materials, fittings aren't in any way shit. But I'm a firm believer than kitchen appliances are mostly temporary things that will at some point shit themselves and die horribly, so I don't get too attached to them.

In theory there is less pressure in the radiator than the pipe inbetween, so water flows mostly through it when the thermostat is open. When it can't flow through the radiator the hot water circulates in the pipes only.
In practice it doesn't work properly, even more advanced systems with proper bypasses are bad. Systems with 2 separate pipes are always much better but were marginally more expensive.
>>
>>2781909
The only issue is that if it breaks then you have to get a replacement with the exact same size or it will not fit properly
>>
>>2782012
I agree but open floor plans have been the major paradigm for a couple of decades now and some people feel the need to convert older homes that weren't designed that way into something they're not.

The real WTF is why does that useless space exist in the first place?
>>

Well, having a lawyer foyer window like that is a common affectation for McMansions, but I bet the exterior wall flow meant they had to create that weird bump-in for everything to fit together.

I've got a similar alcove above my front door, I should shove a TV up there
>>
>>2783575
I worked with a woman who married a cop and they immediately bought a mcmansion after they got married. It had a weird useless space like that near the front door but it wasn’t under a window or anything. It was an entry with high ceilings wasting a ton of space on the second floor and then there was a coat closet by the front door that just ended on the first floor, creating a little nook like that image, except no window or anything. It was so stupid looking. It was like some shit you would make in the sims when you couldn’t get it to scale a 2 story house correctly. There had to be so much dust up there. It was literally like they just decided to slap a little room in the house after the fact

This is awesome. I assume it's a big old family house that's been converted into smaller self contained units with their own private entrance. The only thing I'd change is paint the main house and stairs matching colours.

fwiw I'm American and I've only ever seen them in really old construction, and usually no longer functional. Everywhere I've ever spent time has forced air, supplemented by in-floor in new fancy stuff.
>>
>>2789949
This reminds me of my rich cousins' old house, theirs was very nicely built but the plan was insane, huge U-shaped house on a hillside and nearly every room was on a different level, including bedrooms halfway up staircases and stuff.

This one is giving me a headache.

There is a house near me like this. It was done so they could rent our 3 floors instead of one. Looks alright, but is silly.

That's obnoxious.

But it reminds me of this coffee place I went to once.
They had this kind of diapering effect on the wall. Very lo-fi, literally pieces of electrical tape stuck to the wall. This is a terrible pic, but overall it looked pretty good.

Dude I woulda thought that that was the coolest thing as a kid. Looks pretty good if this is a converted attic given you have to work around the air ducts when doing that stuff or redo all of that shit which is a total pain in the ass. You could imagine slipping a bed up in that top cranny and right in that lower area that the ladder comes on to set up like a sick u-shaped desk, put like a couch in there and a projector, it'd be lit.

No one installs radiators for new construction but there are plenty of functional radiators kicking around in northeast cities that will likely be going for at least a few more decades because slumlords aren’t gonna update rowhomes that already stay fully occupied with constantly rising rent

ah... the pool of death

presuming that's a standard Walmart 15 foot diameter pool, that 5300 gallons of water which is 44,143 pounds

nevermind that one wrong bounce and a kid is guaranteed to go flying, that's being held up by (I counted) 30 6x6 posts and probably all the nails the local HomeDepot had and realize they probably spent over $2000 in just the wood to build that deathtrap.
