Anybody here have a decked drawer in their truck? Or any other drawer in the bed? What do you think of it and how does it work for you?
>>2826297>Hoarder thread If you can't fit it in a backpack, then you don't need it
>>2826337My work requires tools. Of which currently takes up my backseat so I am constantly shuffling them around for staff and family.A traditional toolbox doesn't make sense because I use all the floor space of my bed at least 4 times a week and it's a 5 foot bed so a tool box will eat away 30% of my space.
>>2826342Then you should have a tool trailer and a bed for hauling, OR a tool chest bed and a dedicated trailer for hauling.
>>2826357Our roads are smaller than euro roads. Trailers totally out of the question.
>>2826342Losing 30% of your space seems like a better deal then losing 60% of your vertical space like OP's pic rel.
>>2826297A van is not an option? A toolbox on the bed and a trailer would be the cheapest option but pulling trailers sucks depending on the situation
>>2826297I've had drawers in my truck bed...and pants, and shirts, and once even a bra!
>>2826365I can loose some vertical space. Actually gaining flat floor space over the wheel wells will be a benefit.>>2826371We have a couple vans already. Pickup serves it's role.>>2826389kekI am trying to see if anyone here has experience with these drawers or other drawers. I am on a toss up between buying one of these or making my own out of PVC board.
This would ne nice>no space lost
>op asks specific and reasonable question>>2826337>why don't you just>>2826357>why don't you just>>2826371>why don't you just>>2826551>why don't you justWHY DON'T YOU JUST SLIT YOUR WRISTSop i have no direct experience with them but they seem nice
>>2826551Thats more space than my cars trunk
>>2826297just get one of those fuel tank toolbox comboextend your range and store your tools nice and locked up
>>2826297I prefer to have my tray free and empty for anything that comes my way, so I would only consider getting something like this which goes underneath.
>>2826808I primarily carry boxes and buckets of plants and I fill up the bed 100% on the regular. Often have the tailgate down with straps around the plants and also boxes on the passenger seat so no traditional toolboxes for me>>2826815Your picture is kind of what a the drawer system above does but in a styleside bed rather than the tradie flatbed. Would love on like your image but I am sticking to my truck for hopefully 2 decades at least.
>>2826803I appreciate that others recognize that the average 4chan poster really just spouts shit unrelated to what anyone had asked.
for me its a utility bed
>>2826961>$10,000
>>2826975thats like 1 good week of work. what are you gonna do for the other 51 weeks of the year?
>>2826961>no cranelame
I had a good friend with a tacoma with bed topper that made one of these for camping/supplies. it was awesome. He did it with plywood, three drawers and side compartments with the extra space around wheel wells.i think he did half the bed length and had the other side as additional accessabile storage under a pannel.he covered the system with some super short carpet for planned sleeping I don't see a downside, especially if you're hauling plants all the time which are supremely bottom heavy, you don't need the whole bed height to keep them in>>2826961>>2826551i wish these were economical/possible diy addons>>2826815lmao thats TWO tools and a levelbut anyway not a system you can diy/implement with any ease
>>2826297I know a guy with one, you just have to strap more stuff down. They carry about as much as the bed itself is rated for, so you don't have to sit and think about what you're putting on it.
>>2826986>no digger on your crane Lame.
>>2827057digger derricks are peak utility. i wish id bought one (and a gradall lift) back around 09-10 when they were practically free
>>2826803this poster shines their light racks are people behind them and road rages i bet
>>2827094>t. has to drive around with high beams all the time because has 5% tint on his windshield
>>2827066I paid 8700 for this one. F800 with a 5.9 Cummins and 5 speed manual. Front winch, crane, digger, and bucket. I need to make a new man basket with a pass through side so I don't have to climb into that fiberglass one because fuck that.
Seems like a waste of time and money and now you can’t load the bed with big items if you ever need to.I’m a handyman and I have a trifold bed cover. All my tools are in containers with tops. If I need something I take out the container. I think this is the optimal setup
