I need a new bbq grate, this one is 4cm too long. Can i just angle grinder it down to size, I'm not fucking it up and it won't explode or something?
>>2850245the side will look weird
>>2850245You'll have a rough cut edgeDid you look anywhere but Amazon?
>>2850256That's not really a problem, it'll be towards the top or bottom anyway>>2850259I'll champher it, it'll be top or bottom not along the side. No only looked on Amazon because they're generally the cheapest. I'm in Ireland and open to other suggestions. This is the size of the existing one
>>2850245Depends, if it's a pressurized or pre-tensioned grate, it might explode or bend when you cut into it.
>>2850264Is that likely for a cheap bbq grate?
>>2850266No, you can try doing a hardness test with a file when you get it, if it's easy to file off metal, it's at least not pre-tensioned, since that would become harder from the heat treatment.
>>2850264>>2850266>>2850279It's fucking cast iron or pot metal, if you cut it, it will be shorter end of story
>>2850245I just ordered new grates for my grill from Amazon. They have every size imaginable. Why are you doing this?
>>2850296Show me a 31x40 grate then. This is the only one even close. Use the uk Amazon if you're extra confident, I'll wait.
>>2850279Sounds gay >>2850286That's kind of what i was thinking. Didn't want to make mustard gas or something
>>2850303>ukoi you got a loicense for that grill m8?
>>2850304Don't listen to that anon, depending on the rotational velocidensity of the disks you use it could create hyper-fractures in the metal's structure
>>2850245>>2850263are they porcelain coated? some are and you'll ruin the coating cutting it. even cheap grates like weber q1000 and q2000s are porcelain coated to help them with rust
