alright here is the situation
>parent's place
>big roof, two story building
>tiled
>no attic
I've been hearing scratching and screeching almost every night while coming over and apparently this has benn going on for years (years!).
there are sections visible form the outside where protection clearly has been gnawed off so there are identifiable entry points.
I've been doing some googling but all the solutions work off the assumption that they're in the attic but they're between they are inside the insulation between wood and tiles.
how do i get rid of these motherfuckers and does the roof need expensive reworking?

Hey man, nice marmot

Friends had the same problem, it’s pretty common here. They didn’t want to trap or hunt it (because it’s technically a felony in my country). The high pitch deterrent beeper things are shit, young people can hear the tone and the marten didn’t give a fuck. They’re pretty much always where you describe, between the insulation and inner walls.

If you close off their entry points well there’s a good chance that they will now prefer your neighbours attic instead. They will gnaw through most stuff but not 3mm clear acrylic sheet. A good one is to prevent climbing rain pipes etc with plastic sheet so that they can’t get up the roof easily: they won’t like to use other climbing routes that expose them to predators. If you have one marten with a ‘contained’ burrow where it doesn’t do damage, just keep it there, they’re very territorial and keep other martens away

Some say if you keep a dog or cat inside the house for a few weeks their smell may deter the marten (they want to have kids but not with predators near)

depends, if it dragged a dead dove in you may want to fix that

Happened to me with a raccoon last year. We thought he was out for the day and we patched the roof (shitty duct tape quality job) and the next morning we found out he was still inside and smashed through the bottom panel to escape. He didn't come back since we pruned the tree he was climbing.

yeah can't do anything against them here either becasue they are protected.
The problem with this roof is that it extends down so low that they can probably jump up from the floor so keeping it off the roof is not an option. Need to seal it shut somehow. I'lll talk to some ppl idk.
>The high pitch deterrent beeper things are shit
that's what I thought. especially since they are inside the insulation they are probably not bothered by it. I gave them a scare by whacking on the inside of the roof though that was pretty funny

I was thinking of putting dog piss in a spray bottle and putting that on the entry points. I'll ask someone with a big scary dog for some urine I guess

Arent they like a solitary hunter or something? Maybe they just want to raise a litter and move on. I'd rather have my walls bursting to the seam with angry weasels than have mice and rats skulking about, unseen, bearing disease. desu.

There are scented disks for sale that emulate this. The garage here puts one in the car engine bay if the wires contain fish oil, they will chew every cable until they reach the fish oil. You can also buy nests like round birdhouses that you can hang from your wall and hope it chooses that as its house instead

They are but when they get a litter they drag in their kills (rodents and small birds). The litter will shit/piss in the burrow and when they mature the leftovers of dead animals are left to rot. Then wasps or flies will get in from the smell of rotting meat and it ends up one big shitfest

Poison and lots of it wok nicely for critters. I break up rat bait blocks and mix with foods. Peanut butter is a famous carrier but you can look up what they take as bait.

Don't forget bait blocks in your vehicles, pump house if so equipped, garage etc. You can never have too much poison.

there was a woodpecker pecking on this chimney piece making a bunch of noise and i shot it with a pellet gun and my neighbors got a huffy. im pretty sure they could hear it too and were happy i was being annoyed. you need to kill that shit rat and tell anyone they need to fuck off if they dont like it
