What really are the downsides to PEX? The only argument against PEX seems to be some queer hippie shit about microplastics in your water.
Owning the libtards by having plastic in your brain.
>>2869546the downside is that you're taking the skill out of the trades and taking food out of a plumber's mouth
>>2869599>/diy/ - Do It Yourself
>>2869546You.shouldnt have any joints in inaccessible locations incase they start to leak. Pex is so cheap you can have home runs from a manifold to your taps though so you shouldn't have any junctions. You.dhpuldnt use 90s like that. Just sweep the pipe
>>2869546House mice and rats. My neighbour swapped to PEX throughout during a full renovation, and when the good stuff got banned for killing mice, my full copper house was fine, he had lots of pipe leaks throughout due to rodents chewing on them. Also copper lasts like 50++ years if done well, PEX less than half of that at most.
>>2869599[x] doubtthe overwhelming majority of people dont have a meter wrench or even know where to turn their water off at
>>2869611He means that any crackhead can learn how to run PEX in 5 minutes and do it properly, thus lowering the barrier of entry, and wages.
>>2869546Makes the water taste funny
>>2869546> queer hippie shit about microplasticsYou won’t feel that way when your “daughter” is transitioning because the microplastics are hormone disrupters lol
>>2869700>broscienceSurely a 10-15 year old will have such an accumulation of harmful chemicals and heavy metals from microplastics that their T levels drop 50%, while the average 50 year old that has grams of plastic in his balls doesn't have any demonstrable changes explicitly caused by the plastic. If your child troons out, it's because you were a shit parent and/or because they're autistic.

>>2869599retard this gives us more jobs cause they don't know what they're doing, pex is the equivalent of flushable wipes
>>2869546Studies show hot water + plastic/microplastics = cancer, low t, estrogen in your testes and ovaries that makes your son more feminine. It's not even a debate.
>>2870115but the 50 miles of plastic pipe for it to get to ur house is fine
>>2869546I like copper.Mostly do water heater installs, so the first 12inches out of the topper is normally copper anyways.Pex B is fine but tons of times it looks less clean in my eyes, esp if you fuck up a crimp and need to add hardware to fix it. Sharkbite Pex feels ultra jank to me personally so I avoid it unless im doing something weird like tapping a live line or something emergency like that. Also just to mention I see more pex unsupported than copper which obviously isnt the pipes fault but leads to some hyper annoying situations when there is a leak or some waterhammer shit.
>>2869546>The only argument against PEX seems to be some queer hippie shit about microplastics in your water. This is a big deal, from an unqueer and non-hippie perspective.
>>2869546>microplastics in your water.Non-issue if you have hard water. The scale buildup inside your pipes stops the pipe from leaching into your water. It even makes lead pipes safe.
>>2869705>t. mutt who has been exposed to fluoridated water, artificial dyes, microplastics, asphalt petroleum runoff, etc. since he was conceived
>>2871192Don't let him look up historical T levels
>>2871271I’ve just checked. There’s no actual paper showing the decline you’re implying in the US. There’s a chart from a t prescription service, sure.
>>2870118It's underground where it's cold and doesn't run hot water from your boiler or water heater and it doesn't reside in your hot attic and hot walls. Pex is microplastic cancer and should be avoided if you actually care about your health and your family.
>>2869546Copper pipes inhibit microbial growth, and they provide small amounts of copper which is essential for eye health and red blood cell production - your body can't use iron without copper.Copper plumbing is also more useful if shit like the grid or services go down. In addition to its antimicrobial properties, you can heat or cool directly on the pipe. The means to repair it never expire (heat and metal).
Sounds like a bunch of niggers without a water filter in this thread so far, IMO.
