How much do you think it will cost to get custom machined thin stainless steel 10lb olympic plates for my pair of loadable olympic dumbbells? They would be 1/2" thick, the hole is 2" wide like every other olympic plate, the outer diameter is 9-7/8", and they would be basic flat discs like the picture shown above.

Yes

probably cheaper than you think but if you have to ask...
>>
hardly anything, find any laser/water cutting place that can do 1/2in and just give them ID/OD and tell them tolerances dont matter
>>

Depending on how many you want, that's $150-300 each in just material. Unironically it would probably be cheaper to get them made out of some BS steel and have them TiN coated.

depends if you want customized text or not
>>
>>2871630
Why do you want them to be machined though? Why not buy a bag of cement and make redneck cement dumbbells?
>>
A36 hot roll is going to be the only material even remotely affordable for this
>>
>>2871630
If these olympic plates already exist, why not get some of those?
>>
>>2871630
Really no benefit to doing this because the weights will be slick. Just cerakote normal weights.

Just do it yourself, this is high school kid tier machining class stuff turn an OD, cdrill with tail stock

Turn a chamfer

>turn an OD
Please go and find 10" Stainless bar stock to turn this and when you do, look at the price. No sane person is going to turn this from bar stock. You're going to get 1/2" stainless plate and cut out the shape you need.

It would be cheaper to buy all new equipment from Rogue Fitness.

Why stainless?
>>

To match the dishwasher and refrigerator.

Yeah dumbass a lathe is really good at turning unevenly rough cut piece of metal into circles

You’re 600 years behind in technology dumbfuck

1.1 kg, 2.5 lb… not even standard weights with whole numbers.
They were undoubtedly originally washers for large bolts for a bridge project that got cancelled.

This. Seems like a massive waste.

2.5 lb plates are normal..
>>
This is /diy/, not google it for me.

I've found 8x8 1/2 plate for 40 bucks and a 2 inch carbide tipped hole saw for 10 bucks. I've got a drill and some cutting fluid, so I didn't include that in the price. And the weight would come out square and won't around, so it'd be even better.

Put a hole in a corner and get some big bolts and you can move them around even easier
