Got a job as a superintendent at a senior's apt. building. >repairs are basic af>most jobs can be done with a screwdriver, channel locks or some glue>boilers and MUAs need retard easy maintenance >can't do something then I hire a contractor and watch over their shoulder. Learn how to do it and never hire them again>little old ladies bring me baked goods>old guys tell me cool stories and S tier racist jokes>learn tons of cool /diy/ related stuff everyday>half my day is sitting around in the office, on the roof or in the boiler room shitposting or playing vidya.I can't believe I spent years working construction and other backbreaking jobs when I could have been comfymaxxing like this. Take the super pill.
>>2873396nice
>>2873396Happy for you anon. Milk that job for as long as you can. Just keep an eye out for ownership changes. Private equity is buying up senior citizen communities and extracting wealth out of them by finding jobs like your's and turning you into the super for every building in the metro. Hopefully the one you work at is too small to end up on their radar but do plan your finances with that possibility in mind.
>>2873396What's your salary?
>>2873629The company has been around for a while and owns a few properties, they seem decent and most of the guys I've talked to have been doing this for years, it's competitive to get into.>>2873636Just over $60k, pension, good health insurance, two weeks pto to start
Badass anon. Jealous. Do you get to live there for free?>>2873629This guy's talkin sense. Commercial real estate just has a spooky vibe these days. I've lived in a couple big buildings that had supers or handymen, all nice people. But jesus, I would hate having to deal with the scummy, shady ass management at those places on a regular basis. I never had any serious disputes with them, but every interaction was loaded with negative presumptions and just gave me the creeps. Like talking to a disingenuous car salesman, or a righteous cop, but even worse
>>2873396are you allowed to do repairs on the elevator? it's not allowed here
>>2873723The old super got to live there but they phased that perk out, I assume to make more money.I think the management issue is a bit of a two way street. Lots of scummy tenants that are always trying to dodge paying their bills, wrecking the place, or complaining. To your point though a lot of these bigger companies price gouge, cut corners and just see their tenants as numbers on a spreadsheet. >>2873738Nah, we have a contract with an elevator company. They do monthly preventative maintenance and have their own room in the building that's kinda off limits. The tech is super nice though, showed me the pit, let me ride on top of the car, and showed me how some of it works.
>>2873706Where are you located (generally)? I'm curious to about your COL.
>>2873396youre a house nurse for boomers lol.the fact none of the older ladies tried to hook you up with their grandkids or daughters means your a piece of shit too. they are pretending to be nice and probably hate you.
