I've been disappointed by Knipex quality lately. I've recently been on a pliers buying spree and while larger models are fine, their small pliers have been notorious for being stiff and having imperfect finish. 2 pairs of small flat nose pliers had needle sharp burrs and were pretty stiff, but pic rel is so stiff it's difficult to open with one hand, meanwhile even Chinese made Milwaukee pliers were spotless and smooth OTB and I'm not even gonna mention Engineer, because it's like another universe.it's not that important and AFAIK, they still lead functionality and durability wise, but such sloppy workmanship is not a good look.
now you know how your father felt
basedbot, my strength is waning
>>2875140yours must've run away, like niggers usually do, not giving him a chance to be disappointed, I gather
>>2875146it has nothing to to with strength, if you ever used any tools, you'd know that non spring loaded pliers should just freely drop down and open due to gravity when held by one of the handles, maybe initiated with a light flick at worst, otherwise they're shitty to work with
>>2875158>should just freely drop down and open due to gravityholy fuck no. Zero flex is an upside, like nothing better than the tips or cutting edge not meeting up.i give you limpwrist a word of advice, if its the black version the stiction stems from the clear coat

i shall hand over this thread to bepis
>>2875158Dunk the joint in a cup of gasoline and work it back and forth a million times. It'll get a lot of shit and grime out of there and they should loosen up.
>>2875121nws then or some japanese tools.
>>2875121You should “discover” buying tools from retail outlets.I can go to this big place, go through like 10 pairs of pliers and pick the best one and buy it.There’s a huge variance in quality even coming from one shipment so you can go through them and get one that’s right for you.Quit being an online shopping guy.I suspect a lot of online sellers re-sell returned and damaged merchandise because of the low return rates.I don’t return very much because I checked it in the store.I don’t mind stiction or burrs… trivial to fix. I care about alignment and wobble. Those are hard to fix. Or, if one half of the pliers is ground down to half the thickness of the other tip.> inb4 no retail stores in romainia
>>2875211Not him, but finding Knipex in a retail store can be difficult in the US. Lowe's used to carry them but now you can only order from their website, they're not stocked on shelves there. I have a pair of 10" Cobras that I got because I wanted to see what the hype was all about, and I like them, but otherwise I use Klein because I can do as you suggest and actually see them in the store before I buy, as well as being much easier to return there if I have to.
>>2875121I've said it before but knipex social media popularity will be its downfall. If you spend some time watching reels you'll see every other person shilling them, same shit on jewtube, nothing but accolades, this shit isn't sustainable long term because they are forced to make more and more quantities at faster speed so eventually quality control will get to them, specially as Germany shifts its demographics, less autistic krauts and more turks working in their factories won't help either. They still make a great product as shown by their front nippers that managed to cut allen screw will ever other brand gave up.Also your posts interests me because I'm taking advantage of black friday to add some to my tool box, and I was looking precisely at their 160mm sets, needle and universal pliers and side cutters. Also looking at their lineman's and bolt cutters but according to the comments on amazon the latter doesn't seem very good and tend to snap, maybe their jaws are too hard at 62hrc.
>>2875174See >>2875200
its just plier. its like cups and spoobs. who cares.
>>2875282The Vessel ball grips are nice. The Wera screwdriver handles are very uncomfortable for me, I don't like their contour in the middle of my palm. Genuinely regret buying them desu.>>2875121I like the Japanese Engineer brand pliers.https://www.amazon.com.au/extractor-gripping-extracting-ENGINEER-neji-saurus/
>>2875282Nws get out performed by knipex pretty much all every time on project farm tests.
>>2875297yeah, I mentioned them in the OP, I have small ESD long nose from them and the quality is outstanding
>>2875265>I've said it before but knipex social media popularity will be its downfall. Knipex sadly doesn't make any heavy duty long nose like them or Irwin Ones, it's all precision stuff. Milwaukee isn't that bad though, main Knipex stuff is of course another league, but I have locking pliers from them and from Knipex and Milwaukee ones are genuinely better, so that I gave the Knipex ones to my dad.
>>2875297I’m with ya. The ball grips are super underrated, nothing like a fist full of balls. And Felo is super underrated too, I’ve been curious to try their ergonic drivers but can’t justify another set of screwdrivers.I got the Wera stubbies because I wanted the Tool Rebel sticker. Like most Wera owners, I don’t intend to ever use them so the uncomfortable grip isn’t my concern. It’s all about the looks.>>2875352Are the Knipex vise grips made in Germany? They always seemed like one of those tools that definitely isn’t made on the same production line as all their other pliers. There’s no other chrome stuff in the Knipex lineup. I went Eagle Grip instead… for those projects where I’ve given up on normal tools and want the best chance of some pliers biting on something fucked and seized.
>>2875368yeah, they had a Made in Germany stamp. probably manufactured by their team B or it's a case of just finishing up stuff made in a different country, so that they can claim it was made there
>>2875368>Like most Wera owners, I don’t intend to ever use them so the uncomfortable grip isn’t my concern. It’s all about the looks.kek. I bought several of their impact screwdrivers for hitting and prying stuff, because I heard they're indescructible and they've been hanging on my wall ever since and I'm still using the same old bent screwdriver
>>2875368> got the Wera stubbies because I wanted the Tool Rebel sticker. Like most Wera owners, I don’t intend to ever use themSame here. Really makes a nice background for my unboxing videos!>>2875371How are they? I really want them for their colors, but I need to be able to pretend I could use them. (But seriously, they’re cheap enough and they’re good enough, I don’t get it why there’s so much hype/hate around them. Same with knipex. They’re great, but why hype them that much? At least it seems like knipex’s at least not stoking that hype, unlike >muh tool rebel wera)
>>2875380>not building your own screwdriver holder like a champI should do it with all the Wiha torx guys I have sitting in a drawer
>>2875380they're really nice. the striking cap has a matte finish, instead of the usual polished one, which is great, because it doesn't show every scratch. the bolt goes all the way to the cap, which I checked with a magnet. nothing else to say really, because other than that they're the usual wera screwdrivers. I haven't done any heavy work with them yet, but nothing has given me any indication to disbelieve the claims about their durability.also, if you want to buy some new Wera stuff, check out their awl. it's great and also has a striking cap
