I'm a street musician and one of the most annoying parts about it is how many people take pictures or videos but don't tip. It's just my opinion that if you're going to Take something, you should leave something, especially the guys who have fancy cameras and annoyingly take 40 pictures from all kinds of angles, which is doubly awful cause then other people feel like they're intruding if they have to get in his frame to tip.I don't like how they get to benefit from my presence and not support it in kind, to put it in perspective I play violin and dress up like km from the Baroque era, I understand why they want pictures, j don't understand why they don't support my efforts.Calling them out works sometimes but it's annoying and I have to stop playing to tell a guy he's too close and should have some decency and support the arts.So I want to figure out a way to ruin their pictures until they tip.I was thinking something like infrared lights on a bracelet, unseen to the human eye but would appear as a artifact to a digital one. That or maybe something with mirrors.Any ideas are welcome, thanks in advance.
>>2876132It just has to be annoying for it to work, I don't need to completely ruin the whole picture but if there was a lensflare on the focal point, being the violin, I think it'd annoy the photographer enough.I've thought about a mask, at least my face wouldn't be in their photos.

>>2876127There is nothing you can do to prevent photography that won't also annoy your audience that isn't photographing you. If you are in/viewable from public, you are fair game to photograph so I guess find some private property not viewable from public areas that you own, I guess, but expect people to rapidly consider you a cunt when you tell people they can only photograph you when then tip, because that's what will happen. It's what would happen if you DID have such a device and your negative rep would ruin your busking. For a busker you sure are a thin skinned little bitch. If people are posting photos of you on social media you ARE benefiting because they are promoting you. If you don't want to be photographed, don't be in public. But really, stop being such a faggot, fucking hell.

>>2876604Mad cause you're constitutionally illiterate?Many such cases.
So I've actually been trying to dig up something similar for a few years. Some time ago I ran across a note in an art textbook (can't remember which one unfortunately) regarding a technique to 'insert images into the shots of unsuspecting photographers'. Basically you've got some device (this is old, like 1980s or earlier) that triggers based on the flashbulb and projects your images in the direction of the camera for a split second. The idea is that (if done correctly) the projections is basically unnoticeable to onlookers but shows up clearly when the negatives are developed. The reason this technique was in the book was because someone used it to ?famously? add some 'extras' to a photograph of a member of the catholic church?Problem is though, I can't come up with the right words to describe the technique and so my attempts to revisit it via internet search fall flat. Maybe someone here can fill in what I'm referring to and the resulting searching out help you out? Easier route perhaps, put a bunch of UV LEDs around you? I know cameras are getting better at filtering UV emissions out, but I've tested with some modern cameras and it still isn't foolproof.
>>2876632Have a little picture of micky mouse and the Disney logo and open it up anytime he takes a picture. Now he can't sell it anywhere and he'll stop trying to take your picture. He probably thinks he's doing you s favor fellow artist. >>2876615I didn't say anything about the constitution, I accused you of being a greedy dumb talentless faggot, but you can add illiterate to it too.

It might be tricky if you're going for period correct Baroque costume, but you can integrate reflective safety fabric like the kind used in high vis vests and athletic clothing. Then the bright reflection will throw off the exposure and make it harder to get a good looking photo. Likewise with any props, you can cover them in reflectors.
>>2876683That's a good idea, it's not like I have to be entirely correct, people won't really know the difference
>>2876132>>2876144This..Seriously I'm in 2 minds, 1 you're on public properly and dressed like a dude from 400 years ago, people will take pictures and you should enjoy the publicity and the attention, you are stood in their way grabbing it after all. However I wouldn't ever do what you described to a busker, invade their space and take loads of time using their work for my own ends with no compensation. That's an autistic thing for someone to do and not realize it's common courtesy to throw you some change at least.Idk... I want to start busking with my guitar, nothing serious, just acoustic covers and solely as a fun and free way to make extra money desu much less cucked than working a 9 to 5 with a boss and taxes and other Jewish shit... Maybe just a polite sign that says no photography for photos $1

>>2876422Going viral isn't meaningless if you just want to do it for money. That's how you get money and booked to nicer venues. Also there's nothing wrong with being known or unknown. You literally have a skill that can generate money no matter how shit things get, when you're younger you might think it's cringe but it takes a certain level of social and musical skills to busk well and you should be proud if you're good at it. Just remember you're in public and respect that, some dude with your attitude is probably thinking, that fucking busker in town is distracting people from my business and shitting up the place, how can I ruin HIS thing, you might just need to suck it up dude for the most part. Unless a little sign that says photos for tips or something.
>>2876456>Comes to us asking for help>Insults others who give advice>Won't share his musicDude you have an attitude problem. If people with your attitude can make it busking, I know id make a killing because most of it is the personality and presence you give off and you're not exactly brimming with social skills, it would seem. Just buy a laser and shine it in anyone's eyes you don't like, that's more up your avenue it seems.
>>2876456>Like I'm gonna take orders from some dweeb on 4chanbitch you ARE on 4chan.>>2876698+1
>>2876694Advice for busking would beIt's more about how you play as opposed to how good you actually are. Try to find a nice spot where no one is sitting or waiting because it's kinda rude, places where people can choose to stop and stay if they want to.Playing stuff people know is better than your own or obscure music, personally I play stuff I enjoy which is mostly folk and classical but I have a few very well known tunes, mostly American folk songs that do well despite being super easy.If you have student debt or something you can let people know with a sign, it's a lot easier when people sympathize with you, people also like to believe in dreams so if you have goals you can mention it.Dress decently, and when you start always have some money already in your case/tip jar, the hardest tip is the first one, so just have it already be there. An empty case just looks bad, I personally put in a 2 for luck and a 5 as it plants the idea that they can tip with bigger bills. The biggest secret is if you have a well behaved dog, the it for a walk and bring a bed for it to lay down. People will tip just cause you have a dog I once knew a guy who trained his dog to take tips and quite frankly everyone wants to tip a dog.And on a last note, you get nervous at first but just go out and focus on playing and not people, you'll get used to it and then it becomes regular.
>>2876698Stay mad.I'm a mirror, if you don't like my attitude it's merely a reflection of your own, I've responded politely to those who have been polite, hell I just typed out a long post on tips for another guy who's thinking of busking.

>>2876127Don't play in public.
I work in tourism, so might actually be able to help you.People have the right to take photos in public places in most countries, but are often obnoxious, I've worked for several businesses and companies to manage related issues. Usually the concern is guests violating each others privacy, mitigating security risks, obstructing trade. 1. you can pay someone to collect tips for you, and basically stand in front of anyone who's trying to take photos of you until they give you money. this significantly reduces your cut, but performers can take turns doing it for each other, and works very well if a large number of tourists are expected in a short period of time.2. you can put your hat out somewhere further from where you play, I've seen performers but a metal strong box on a cable and duct tape the cable to the ground so people don't trip over it, and then put some kind of a funnel over the strongbox. you can also raise the box off the ground with a sheet music stand. 3. you can foul people's shots. This is very common among performers who dress up and are essentially trying to foul people's attempts to use them for stock images.3.1 Use copyrighted materials to ensure no photos take of you are marketable, especially as stock images. You are allowed to wear copyrighted materials if you purchased them, someone can photograph them- but will get themselves copywrite struck if they try to market that image in a lot of cases. And this works because the public will not notice or care if there's a Disney poster up behind you or whatever.3.2 reflective material that tends to foul flash photography, often setting yourself up in front of a reflective surface has this effect, positioning a panoramic mirror so that anyone taking a photo of you photographs themselves is a classic.
>>28799363.3 A sign that says no photography, or not playing whenever someone takes a photo is common, some street artists simply wave the sign manually at anyone who is taking intrusive photos. some people obviously just won't care.3.4 There are a number of LED arrays that interfere with camera's exposure, but this gets into territory where you could get kicked out for using them. I don't understand exactly how they work but they are lights that appear white but are really flashing in RGB, which humans won't notice but digital cameras really don't like.3.5 screens that strobe images, which humans can't detect but again a digital camera will rasterize in. 3.6 audio fouling through high/low frequency metronome 3.7 it's pretty common to set up a line with chalk, string, sticky tape, hackey sacs or whatever to keep audiences at a respectful distance, you can also yell at fuck heads who try to touch you when you're playing or step on a horn or use a whistle or some such thing.3.8 you can use a strobe on people. Fuck them. you can wire it up like it was on a rifle with a button you press. By far the most annoying are ones that turn on an off in a pseudorandom pattern. It bears mentioning that it's unwise to do anything hostile to people who simply don't understand (or can't read) your wishes. There's really not point strobing every Chinese mainland tourist if you don't have a sign in mandarin.
>>2879940Many tourists no longer carry cash at all, which is a massive source of pain in tourism in general. but specifically for street vendors and performers. One tactic is to solicit donations of resalable goods, from an adjacent merchant, often a ticket vendor. get people to tip you in entry tickets. You can have a QR/RDIF donation card, especially useful with Wepay that the Chinese use. You list a fake item like a digital download of your music and they buy it like a tip, but on the whole people are often uncomfortable buying anything with card from a street traderSome performers have reverted into putting cards under local businesses doors and simply trying to get businesses to pay them. And this can actually be surprisingly effective especially when cafe's etc don't want performers bothering patrons. Very common in piatzas. has been since 1600. Especially to get tourists off a main walkway and down a traders street.
You can wear these kinds of mirrors, or more commonly put them on a sign, I've even seen performers put a fouling image facing themselves in the bottom of a stand, and worn the mirror. So anyone taking a photo of them ends up with the reflection of the fouling image in the shot. You can also hang small mirrors on a string with beads on your music scant etc to a similar effect
Reflective spray is a distinct option if your problem is specifically with flash photography, you just buy a can of it, spray it on your fabric with a stencil, and flash photography picks up the pattern as if it's glow in the dark and it ruins their shot- though they often only realize afterwards. But this works very very well if people are trying to take series of instantaneous shots like at horses in the starting position of a race or a finish line because one cameras flash will foul the exposure of all other cameras, flash or not.
Another classic is an osculating fan image. you can create these manually with a 12v battery powered fan. There are other kinds that project a fixed image onto a fan. These foul video footage but not camera footage. the tiktok killer. When the video is sped up or slowed down it makes the image visible, often it's set at a common shutter speed. Usually you see this used to generate an image, but changing the frequency will generate a random or white image, which fouls either still or video photography. I've seen these installed in hats as if they were hat bands, you can trigger them with a button if needed

stop being an asshole and accept that people can and will take your picture, and have the right to use it as they see fit, if you are in a public place.also as someone who has pictures on stock photography websites most of them require having a model release to use a picture of anyone (who is identifiable), EXCEPT for editorial licenses, in that case anything in the picture can be used. even copyrighted stuff. they also require that minimal processing is done to the picture and nothing is edited out. so if they were making a book about buskers, and they took the pictures they can print them and there is little you can do about it. if they are selling them and use an editorial license anyone else can use them as long as they are UNALTERED.your local laws may vary.
