My college dissertation is about 3D printers. Are there good tutorials online to learn about them? What types of 3D printers are there and how do they work? Please, you are the experts on this topic, help me
If you don't know jack shit and you never even bothered to type "3d printer tutorials" into Google or YouTube then please just fuck off because there's no sense helping someone who won't help themselves in the most basic ways possible, and you have no business writing a dissertation on a topic you don't know anything about
>>2877306two things right back at you. first: kys and second: I don't care, I'm still gonna make the dissertation, and I know I can google it, but it's easier for me to ask you guys, and I don't feel like reading papers for hours just to understand them when I can simply ask you guys for help.if you don't want to help me, that's ok, I'll guess I'll read the references my professor sent me, but why work when I can simply ask you guys for help?

>>2877304There is a literal endless amount of information on 3D printers a single Google search away you retarded fucking faggot. We can't spoonfeed you if you're literally incapable of thinking for yourself. Dumbass.
>>2877419Graduating with what degree? If it's STEM, you're too far gone. Sophomores at my uni were building 3D printers from scratch for lab projects. If it's not STEM, who cares?
>>2877471human interaction bad
>>2877306Also I remember seeing a video on OP's printer where someone bought it and used a different printer to fab parts to make it worth using.
>>2877536No, expecting people to spoonfeed you homework answers is bad, you colossal faggot. It's not difficult, you're just lazy and trying to justify spending your time on 4chan instead of researching it on your own.
the biggest flaw with 3d printers is the belt. that shoukd be replace with a magnetic linear actuator. the magneto x did but its pricey and its the only one. Also autoleveling takes too long. Lastky make sure there is mechanism in place so they never get clogged. ever.
>>2877304>dissertation on 3d printers>dissertation is supposed to express a culmination of knowledge gained in nearly a decade of study>'what is a 3d printer'fuck off holy shit, should have done your dissertation in rap format on how much you chug dicks
>>2878349The biggest problem with 3d printer is the ratio of successful prints to failed prints. This ratio used to be quite terrible in the beginning and has gotten progressively better. The current hotness is the Bambu Labs A1 / Mini because it's got a shitload of sensors all designed around making sure it prints right the first time. Before that it was the Ender 3 where a high failure rate was just expected. On paper belts seem like a bad idea. In reality they are pretty benign. Even the smallest used belts are made for loads and forces far greater than what a 3d printer can exert on them so deformation and stretching almost never happen.

>>2878349>the biggest flaw with 3d printers is the belt>not the cheap overall design>not the warped-out-of-the-box beds>not the minimum-cost driver boards>not the unsupported wire "guides" that leave conductors broken at the connectors>not the wobbly lead screws>not sketchy, half-proprietary Marlin forks that forget to turn on safeties for the heatersYeah it's definitely the most mechanically reliable parts of the printer, guys, the belts are definitely the biggest problem.>that shoukd be replace with a magnetic linear actuator. the magneto x did but its pricey and its the only oneBecause it's a fucking stupid idea for a consumer-level printer, and the Magneto is a gimmick machine. Linear motors have abysmal weight/power ratios, by their nature. The extra mass alone makes them actually perform worse than an "equivalent" coreXY setup. Linear motors are desirable where you need an extremely precise and stable motion platform, like single-digit micrometer/nanometer range. FDM printers won't really benefit from more accurate positioning systems; issues with surface finish and imperfections prevent them from being much more precise than they already are. At least, not without extreme effort in the rest of the extrusion system. They just want speed, either for faster maximum print speeds or for better results at slower speeds. Toothed belts are arguably the best way to do this, since they weigh practically nothing and offload a huge amount of mass from the moving parts of the machine. The dynamic stretching they experience while things are in motion isn't even usually significant compared to flex in structural members, and can mostly be offset by simply using wider/heavier belts.>wait 15 fucking minutes to postSlob on me knob, gookmoot.
>>2878802it is not a gimmick. the magneto x can achieve 800 mms. i havent checked but i woukdnt be surprised if its the fastest printer on the market. that is solely because it doesnt rely on belts. But if its anything like my k1 itll spend 5 minutes doing the annoying self calibration regardless.
>>2877304well what are you trying to learn man? how to print things from the file or making actual files to then print? printing from a file is as simple as copying it to a microSD, put SD in the printer, click around on the printer to select the file and thats it. itll make some benchmark tests so you can see its level and working right then print what you want. quite simple but there is a learning curve. creating your own custom files? thats a whole other story that actually takes effort.
>>2878810>my k1I was confused how a dumb goober like you managed to build a K1, but of course you're talking about your Ender K1, with the breaking windows and shitty third party support and whatnot.>the magneto x can achieve 800 mmsDo you even know what a 'mms' is, you goddamn stupid ass motherfucker? Is it a speed? Acceleration? Is it a unit of length? Is it just the noise you make when you swallow your moms dick?>The current hotness is the Bambu Labs A1 / Mini(...)This is why I stopped posting about printers on here. Everybody only talks about the cheap shit they bought at the Wal-mart.>>2878802This anon mostly explained the things worth explaining.>coreXY setupCoreXY is way fucking over rated. The belt length is enormous for the build size, and actually that is what causes the belts to seem like the limiting factor.CoreXY is only good for consumerist bullshit printers, because you can have fewer steppers/ drivers and it looks good without the front bar. My next printer will be a cross XY -- very simple belt paths and no belts on the toolhead. Also, if you tension the GT2/GT3 belts at the correct specified tension, your printer will turn into a Pretzel and the plastic parts will snap. Belt performance is quite good at the correct tension.

>>2878850>a number I found on an advertising billboard>factsAnyway, you're changing the subject. I don't care about the number. I asked you about the units. Explain, in your own words. What exactly is an mms?>Derpa herp herp, it's obvious what I meant, it's a millimeter per second that's like, a mile per hour for printers derpa derp derpYou can achieve 800mm/s travels on practically any 1.8 degree stepper at 24 or 48V. It means nothing and is basically useless. We mostly care about high accels when we talk about motion systems.Anyway, you're such a moron it's pointless having a conversation. I'd have to write all your answers for you because you're practically illiterate and you only have enough brain power to regurgitate advertising slogans.>>2878850>id beat your ass tooSay that to my face, fucker, not online and see what happens.
