My Polish construction dude assures me that he can remove an L shaped wall from the kitchen quietly without permits, and that it will be fine. There is also baseboard heating along those walls that will go.Part of the wall is load bearing, so he will do what he has to do in the attic so that the house doesn't fall down. I trust his construction experience. I'm more concerned about getting in trouble if the town finds out or have issues when I sell the house. What the additional costs if I do things the right way?
>>2879436Make sure the workers bring all the debris into the garage or back yard and load the trucks there. Take it to a landfill out-of-county.
>>2879436The costs for doing this correctly should equate to about $800 per linear foot of wall.
>>2879490Oy vey. Its an L shape wall, so only a part of it is load bearing. The non-load bearing part should be cheaper to remove.
>>2879436Hey NJ Anon, I'm doing the same thing, and in NJ. Do you have a good relationship with your neighbors? Can you quietly get this done? When selling the house no one is going to give a shit if the work is done right, if they buyer wants it they will buy it. I did an entire renovation without permits in Hoboken and sold the place no problem, but places like Toms River are really cracking down on this because of all the hasidim. What's he doing for the header? How big of a span will it be supporting? Better header makes them for you, I'm building my own flitch plate buying steel from Park Steel in Neptune at around 20% of the cost.
>>2879436Here's my first plate going in
>>2879446I just bring mine to the dumpster at my office and put small stuff in the robo can.
>>2879436don't trust Polish construction dudest. Polish dude who had to deal with Polish construction dudes and picked up DIY because of it
