would a honda goldwing make the ultimate car?
>cool, not gay
>parks anywhere
>can fit more motorcycles in the garage
>seating for two (one)

how would you go about making a door/hatch?

I'd just get waterproof gear and not be a little bitch. Even snow wouldn't be a problem if you got shit meant for snowmobiling and maybe added some guards on the handlebars to help stop the wind.

riding around like an astronaut kind of blows though. at least when you compare it to the convenience of an enclosed car. everything you need to be warm is right there in the car. you don't have to suffer because you didn't wear the right gloves for the right day or didn't wear warm enough clothes under your jacket.

I see a lot of projects on youtube that add more wheels but my goal would be to have an enclosed car on two inline wheels. probably have some kind of floor mechanism to stand on the ground without actually standing on the ground. In my original image I was thinking some sort of ski so in snow you could put your feet down and ski with your feet for stability

They make kits for that. Or studded tires. Unless you live somewhere that's it's snow all the time though it doesn't seem practical.

Also check this, looks like they use retractable training wheels

I didn't know about these. pretty cool. but it's definitely not designed for practical people.
>80k pricetag
>wheelbase is like twice as long as a normal bike
>now electric only
I feel like I could make a bolt-on for < 10% that somehow. and if I could deploy the retractable wheels with my feet like a kickstand that simplifies things. I'm not sure about wheels vs skis. on one hand wheels sound more practical on normal road surfaces, but I don't actually see a reason to have to have them while moving which sort of defeats the purpose of wheels in my mind. I think of retractable skis like having feet but cooler and better.

A big rain screen all around but leaving the sides open for your feet would probably be the best of both worlds.

Just get a closed helmet and a leather coat. TUck the coat betwee your knees and the tank (or get one of the ones that have straps for around the legs) and you can bike in any weather.

If you build a cabin, in the event of a crash, you'll get stuck in it instead of being tossed off, making you more likely to end up crushed.

t. rides to work every day

Goldwings are a bad car and a worse motorcycle. They're barely smaller than a smart car, more expensive new, all the risk of a motorcycle with very little of the space-saving and maintenance related convenience. I commute in a big city through bad winters, and light weight + low center of gravity is important. Flat space for luggage is also important. If you have a rack in the back and two hard saddlebags, you can fit a steamer trunk on the back of a mid size bike, or if you have a scooter with a flat floorboard and high handlebars, you can fit a large luggage bag and carryon down there while you use the pegs. Making a car frame for a goldwing like those BMW scooters that bombed isn't worth the effort for how minor and questionable any advantages are.

My dad turned one into a trike.

Took the fork and front wheel off and had a guy.build a chromally roll cage around the whole thing with a low to the ground cockpit. Front wheels were just rack and pinion I think.

Built an aluminum skin around it to look cool.

It's meh? Ended up as long as a car. I guess you could get two in a parking spot if you tried. Goes faster than any reasonable man wpuld want to.

Not any fun in the rain, it's too light to get grip.
