Utility company put on of these in my yard without me asking for it.It’s on my property which I think technically makes it my property.Any harm in opening it up to have a peek at what’s going on inside? I’ve always been curious.
>>2882921It in the utility easement. So its not yours but the property its on is but the utility has the right to use it. We have quite a bit of land with utility easement on one side they just came through and cut a shit ton of trees. even some that have been there for years. I guess new rules of no trees even under the wires. For years they just topped them.
>>2882921>On my property which makes it mineNot really how it works for utility stuff. Utility company owns the power meter, transformers, etc... felony to tamper with them. Having said that, if you wanna fuck around with them I'm not gonna narc.In any case, you're probably better off googling what subdivision transformer boxes contain. Technically it should be safe to open but you never know if it was installed by an idiot and there's a loose connection somewhere. There's 7200 Volts in there. Again, the actually wiring should have a metal case protecting it inside the box, but idiots and all.
>>2882921>Any harm in opening it up to have a peek at what’s going on inside? I’ve always been curious. It's a pad mounted transformer. It'll have some gauges, some switches and three metal paddles with holes in them that are used for electrical input. And yes it can kill the shit out of you. I've seen a fairly experienced foreman accidentally drop a ratchet and let it connect two of the paddles and by the time we got a wooden handled shovel to knock it off it had melted in half
>>2882924It says 240/120 right on there. But that’s not the dangerous part, the danger is that the breaker for the bus bar is 200A
>>2882921big energy doesnt want you to know this but the power inside there is free. ive already gotten 6 gorillion kajigawatt hours from my local unsecured transformerjust poke a piece of romex in the side and enjoy running your heaters and dope grow lights expense free all winter long. if you stand on a piece of protective damp cardboard you can touch the terminals without feeling a thing
>>2882921That's where the power company stores cash collected from people that don't have checks or credit cards. It has an electronic lock inside that can be disable by grabbing the white wire and black wire together and cutting them simultaneously with a bolt cutter. They usually have $10k inside.
I saw a gore video of a guy who got fried trying to steal the copper out of one of these. It was horrible.
>>2882921Interesting that if you Google search the image you get a stock photo for Daelim transformers. Are we /ck/ now where every thread is just a repost of something from Reddit? Fuck off OP.
>>2882921If you got like $30k you could probably get them to put it underground.
>>2883105not op but the use of stock images to start a thread does not mean it's a fake threadif I can avoid taking a picture of something I will
>>2883086that crackhead still alive in that vid too lmao
goddamn someone turn off this fucking christmas theme on this thread already
>>2882921It says on the boxIts a 50 kVA transformer, 240/120 V
>>2882921live stream if you do.
>>2882921call a romanian scrapper. he probably has that thing gone in minutes
>>2882921>Utility company put on of these in my yard without me asking for it.no! they didn't they put it on the easement. and sure go ahead open it up poke around in it. then at least you won't be posting here anymore. you dumb fucking moron.
I would honestly just force the door open and start touching everything inside with a screwdriver
>>2883290The one where electric arc burned open his torzo and you can see his lungs expanding and heart beating?OP you better film yourself, good gore is hard to come by here lately.
>>2882921>muh probberdy!!I fucking hate boomers so fucking much.
>>2882921I worked right of way in South Florida and convinced about 300 homeowners to sign utility easements to place txs... I wonder how much bad I've done. At least we get underground power here eventually but we used to lie and say they are gonna be up and down the street but it's usually 1 per 5 or 6 houses or a max run of like 350 ft. I just got laid off though bc my boss was Dominican and I'm Aryan and asked for a raise
>>2882924The cabinet door is the only enclosure, there is not another barrier behind that door. That's why they padlock it and it likely has a pentahead bolt not hex, so niggers can't try to steal the ground wire if they happen to accidentally stumble across standard wrenches while jogging through construction sites. There's a good chance the primary is dead-front design and shouldn't kill you if you touch the cables but that's rolling the dice and the secondary will be fully exposed. Oh and that's a chinese transformer, godspeed. COVID shutdowns screwed the industry and all of the utilities had to order overseas, with no factory inspections or serious quality audits. I have never seen such god awful equipment in my 30 years. You'll probably have a new one soon OP, hope you have a generator.>t. transformerfag.
>>2882960 Did the calculations, and those hand-made, manually trimmed fuses are within 1% tolerance.
>>2886305this isn't a boomer, a boomer would understand easements. this is a millennial.
