How do I get keys copied/cut for one of these locks? My family owns a business and the landlord is clueless on how to get new keys.

Says do not duplicate, every key shop says no.

take a copy of your lease and a signed letter from the landlord to the lock shop. or put the screws on your dipshit landlord. this is throughly in his territory as property owner
>>

how the locksmith knows the key is for that apartment? take in a lease and get any key copied. stupid.

find a bent locksmith or what you are supposed to do call up the key company with the code (you don't have this btw) and they send you a spare key for eyewatering cost.

or of course if your landlord knows about this happening (he doesn't) then just buy a fresh lock and get as many keys as you want because you have the code now, then give your landlord the new key to replace his old spare.

or i guess find a blank that looks similar enough and a dremel and be very very careful.

Find the right thickness metal stock carefully trace the outline of the key and then file/grind the key.
>>

Check at home depot or lowe's. They used to have key-cutting machines that you could use yourself.
>>

This. These key vending machines do not give a fuck about “DO NOT COPY”
I have made all my keys with these. Fuck landlords.
>>
That's an SFIC style key, possibly a BEST keyway. Good fucking luck. Ain't no machine cutting that
>>
Do it yourself.
>Key blank compatible with your lock
>Small vise to hold key blank
>Small file to cut key
>Calipers to measure the original key you're copying
>Permanent marker to mark depth
>Magnifier if your eyes are old

As long as it isn't some exotic key type or have some high end security features like detents or teeth in a channel, it should be easy enough to do after a few tries.

>all this sketchy shit instead of just hassling the idiot landlord
so the op isn’t true and you just want to dupe some key
>>
>>2886540
Get some silicone, make a mold, cast with resin. Or make the mold with clay and cast with brass if you have a proper oven.

Or just replace the lock with one you have keys for. As long as you have at least one key that fits, that's trivially easy.
>>
>>2886540
Figure out the keyway. Print up a bidding decoder from it and set your key on it. Write down the bidding.

Find another locksmith you haven't asked yet and order the key by the bidding numbers.
>>

The usually use a non standard blank for do not copy keys they won't have at home depot.

You can stop do not copy on anything. Landlords do it for normally schlage and kwikset all day.

If it actually is something fancy, it's 2025 and no information is obscure anymore
>>
>>2886540
Couldn’t you just grind the wording off? Then sand it to match the finish.
>>
>>2886546
Just dremel off the 'Do not duplicate' on the key, then take it in.
>>
>he uses keys
standard rake and 5 seconds can unlock that shit
>>
If it is a Best key the keyway letter should be stamped on the key. You can order a key decoder for Best keys, get the depths of each cut from bow to tip, and order a key from an online vendor that will cut them to code. Some vendors won't ask questions. I bought a 1930's hand crank key machine from an antique store years back that can cut good copies of any key. Buying a used basic machine can be an option if you plan to make your own copies of restricted keys in the future.

There's little hand held nibblers that's are pretty cool

Take a video, a closeup shot of the lease. Then pan over to a shot that would capture the apartment number and the street name if possible. From the apartment number zoom into the key ensuring that it is focused and the words are legible. Still rolling, insert the key and open the lock. From the lock you pan over to your landlord holding photo identification. You zoom in on the ID as they verbally confirm their identity, and then pan over to the signed letter. Show this video to your locksmith.

Here in Germany noone cares about anything "Do not duplicate". Theres some keys marked in similar ways - to keep the monopoly of some lock manufacturers, which isnt legal. So you get happy keys :D.
>>

identify your keyway and then google the code measurements for your keyway. after that just measure the existing keys and figure out the "code"
then go on ebay and order some cut to code, easy.
