I'd like to shove this back in the wall because I don't need it.

I have a cheap multimeter. I guess I can shut down the breakers for the entire house for a minute but I don't know which of the 20 slots it's wired to.

Pretty much this. Just make sure it's set to AC, and that you use one where you can't accidentally slip onto the tips. Something like a Duspol would be best.
