Hello people... any full proof ways of 1. cleaning a shitter and 2. getting rid of cigarette smoke? The toilet is "clean" but I cannot remove what looks to be rust/shit/whatever stuck at the bottom. I've tried vinegar to no avail. As for the smell of cigarette smoke, IDK how to remove it. I've heard baking soda and/or vinegar but how to apply it, etc. Jewgle is full of shit. >pic unrelated
>>2888509Bleach for both. Cleans toilets perfectly and if you enough the smell will last longer than smoke will. It won’t be super healthy to breathe though.
>>2888512I've tried bleach, still looks like a shitstain at the bottom of the porcelain.
>>2888512Looks almost like this, a little cleaner but I can't get the fucking bottom non-brown. IDK if it's even shit at this point.
>>2888514Pumice stone
>>2888512As for ciggies, we're talking 8 years of smoke. Going to have to go nuclear on a tight budget.
>>2888516You mean I have to fucking get a stone and stick my hand into that and grind it away using a foot thingamajig?
>>2888518anon turn the water off to the toilet, flush to clear the tank, then plunger the remaining water until it's almost all goneTHEN add bleach and scrub with a cleaning brush, and let it soak for a few hours, overnight even, scrubbing occasionally as more stuff comes loose
>>2888525Thanks anon, I will try this method.
>>2888514>>2888517Nvm then I thought you were cleaning a hotel room or something. Most good methods cost more than your deposit was probably
>>2888529I am, been living in a hotel room for 8 years. No need to be a dick about it.
An ozone generator will take care of most of the smell, but you'll need to be out of your apartment while it's running.
>>2888509baking soda/vinegar works, but you have to mix it fast before it goes bad.get a big plastic or stainless mixing bowl. the bigger the better, but you can get away with like 1/2gal or 3qt size. dump all your vinegar in it. then take your baking soda and open the top, remove any foil if you have to, and dump it in fast. try to get as much in the bowl in as little time as possible.then you take it and scrub the walls and stuff right away before it wears off.
>>2888561*works for cigarette smoke smell, i mean.
>>2888518They make one that has a handle. Works awesome and is “soft” enough to not scratch the porcelain.
>>2888525this might blow your mind but there’s this shit called toilet cleaner and a toilet brush.Use toilet cleaner, let it sit for a few hours, then scrub away with a toilet brush.
>>2888509>rust/shit/whatever stuck at the bottom.pic rel
>>2888514I've had worse and I always just pour 1L of vinegar there, let it sit for a few hours and scrub it off with the brush. No point fiddling with fancy shmancy chemicals.
I've never tried this on toilet stains but give denture cleaning tablets a try. It's worked for me on most stains on ceramics and glass.
>>2888514It's quite brittle, I saw a piece break off in a corner once and that made me grab an old metal ruler and I could poke the rest off. The porcelain of the toilet was quite smooth underneath so I'd slide the ruler across and scrape bits off. Eventually it broke off in large bits I could flush.Looked as new. Threw the ruler out.
>>2888509>the smell of cigarette smokethe smell is, of course, clinging to various surfaces in the roomif you do a quick wipe of all those surfaces with a bleach/water solution, using a foam mop, the smell will vanish
>People recommending bleach I love bleach, but no, this isnt a time for a base you need acid. Clear the toilet, rinse whatever bleach was used and once clean use CLR or toilet bowl cleaner, let it sit and agitate over and over until it starts to flake off. Dwell time is your friend >smoke You arent going to get smoke out. Breaks down with solvent, your best bet is to repaint and replace fabrics. Hars surfaces can be cleaned with magic erasers, vim or other abrasive cleaners.
ZEP. Dumped an entire gallon in the toilet and let it sit for a few hours. Everything scrubbed clean after that.
>>2888509>ai summarylol
>>2888509You’re fucked on the smoke, the tar is embedded in every surface of every room you’ve smoked in. You could maybe steam clean the furniture, drapes, and carpet. Repainting the walls may help make a layer the smell can’t penetrate through.
>>2888514Put one of those dishwasher detergent bricks in there and wait 12 hours, then give 'er with a toilet brush. Repeat until sparkly.
>>2888514That’s urea build up. The yellow let it mellow crowd is responsible for this.
>>2888516This. Cheapest and fastest.
