What diy solutions could you implement to keep him living well even without the full use of the rear legs?
I am looking into dog wheelchairs and stuff like that.

There's no magic fix for this anon.

I thinking that maybe some anon good at diy has come up with something

Did you go to a vet?
Sometimes neuropathy can be treated with cheap medicine

Not yet. I was going to but i caught the flu and i am stuck at home with fever for a few days.

>dog wheelchairs
can confirm these DO work, Anon. But do take the dog to a vet - some times it can be fixed with a simple anti-inflammatory treatment (IF the problem is caused by a nerve getting compressed by inflamation), some times it needs something not so easy. Talking from actual experience here. And if that's not the case, be ready to pay from your nose, just giving you fair warning.

DIY dog wheelchairs are not so difficult to do, but seriously, DO start by trying NOT to need them.

Graft a cat inplace of the pelvis

The kind thing to do is put him down when his quality of life is suffering.

Collapsing?
What breed is he? It could be something like hip dysplasia. Or, like other anons said, it might be inflammation which can be treated with NSAIDs or corticosteroids, or neuropathic pain which could be helped with gabapentin.

Take him to the vet.

Sure, as long as its not something that can be easily treated. It would really suck to put a dog down that would have been fine with Galliprant. We at least owe it to them to go to the vet and see.

It could even be a spinal issue - just make sure he is not in pain!

I had to do this with my dog. Took her to the vet and she had a small amount of arthritis and nerve damage. Happy as anything, just couldn't feel where one of her legs were. Once they suggested meds just to prolong her, it was time for her.

If your dog is old, then this is a sign that he's ready to go.
Don't keep him around in misery because you don't want to let go.

I’ve started doing this. My harness is double, one in front and in back. I gently hold her up so she still has to use the rear legs and keeps the muscles active. I avoid solid ground—mainly grass and soft stuff.

I am also doing this and I recommend it. It’s expensive—I spend $10 a day. 2lbs per day, usually 5.90 lb for good quality meat. It’ll keep the muscles healthy and their spirit high. Also good to keep inflammation down and general well being up.

This could be the issue. Could be a pinched nerve. I went to 2 different vets and a neurologist and a something else all for my dog. They determined her dragging of her foot was likely a pinched nerve. $5k to get surgery. Can’t afford it really especially since it’s a crapshoot. When I took the dog in she couldn’t get up. 5 months later and she can’t get enough of going outside. She runs down stairs and has slight trouble going up. But holding her lower back harness up gently helps greatly.

Get the harness. Feed meat. Give attentive care when walking for a while. They’ll stabilize

dont give pets "human" food (sandwiches, pasta, spices, smoked etc), they are NOT grazers and most flours contain gluten -> gluten ATAXIA (see wikipedia).
It's literally nerve gas! Some brands of dogslop even cut their dry pellets with wheat,

Don't be so quick to put yourself in this life.

1. Why is the dogs leg collapsing?
2. Is it an advancing condition?

My dog for reference developed cancer in its spine, the dog could no longer hold in its piss or shit.
No matter how much I loved the dog, it became an issue of sustainability and it could not be so any longer.
For the dog had drastically lost its quality of life due to the progressive nerve damage.

I understand your pain more than anyone, but you must address how far this condition will go.
Otherwise you are quite literally compliant in the suffering of your dog, not in its quality.
For such a dog in nature will always willing succumb to death as it progresses closer every day to it.

God speed.
