Are used compressors worth buying, or it'll probably be a ticking timebomb? I have an option to but an operable 50 liter/13 gallon 2 piston 3HP compressor for the equivalent of 80$ plus shipping. Alternatively I could buy a new 24L 1HP one on amazon for a bit cheaper, but the air supply capacity is only 55L per minute at 7bars, so I won't be able to use air tools. I don't want to spend more, because it's not gonna be used that often and I already have a 6L cordless 36V 8.5bar compressor for the airgun or the nailer

you can't even figure out if a used compressor is worth buying, how the FUCK are you ever going to be able to use one?
>>
Try to deduce whether it was stolen, or if the owner died/retired.

lmao. also, I literally wrote in the OP that I already use a compressor, so good job being illiterate

Honestly I would prefer to only buy used compressors. New shit is marked up so crazy it's not even funny...

You can find them used for pennies on the dollar. Maybe not so much on the small little pancake and other oilless compressors, but the big shit for sure.

Pic rel was practically brand new and purchased for like $700 at an estate auction. New price for a comparable compressor is $2500-3000.

I've bought plenty of old compressors for dirt cheap. They're almost always worth buying.
>>

it's from online auctions starting from 1$ with stuff from pallets with amazon returns ,clearances frome dealerships reselling second-hand items, etc. there's been a lot of those lately and they usually sell for about 80-100$. it's 100% legit and working properly (unless it's a damaged item specifically, which is clearly noted in the description) at the time of sale (which is in the sellers interest, because anyone can just return it otherwise), I'm only worried about how it'd hold up
>>
>>2890683
thanks, this reassured me. I actually already won the bid, but I've been having second thoughts, especially after I came across a smaller compressor from the same brand 50% off on amazon, so I thought about not picking it up and settling for half the size and several times worse air capacity but brand new

seems great if you only need to inflate stuff and don't need a big tank for air tools
>>
FWIW I bought a Husky 30 gallon compressor at an equipment auction a few years back for about 1/5 of the price of a new one. It seemed like someone had loosened the bolt holding the pulley to the pump at some point, but otherwise it's been a workhorse. As long as it's not a rusty piece of shit you should be fine.
>>
>>2891720
Why'd you do this to yourself? Those cables are nowhere near to delivering 100A in the first place, and for that kind of money you could've almost gotten a brand-name portable compressor. Alternatively you can buy similar meme compressors for less than half the price from Aliexpress or Temu if you just want to inflate tires.

I needed a 12VDC for the car.
They do sell these 12VDC compressors with tanks.

>Why'd you do this to yourself? Those cables are nowhere near to delivering 100A in the first place,
No idea about cables, item ETA is Feb 18
I'll replace the cables if needed.
>and for that kind of money you could've almost gotten a brand-name portable compressor. Alternatively you can buy similar meme compressors for less than half the price from Aliexpress or Temu
Nothing 12VDC was anywhere close to that performance for the price I paid.
>if you just want to inflate tires.
just inflate tyres?
my current piece of shit takes literals minutes to inflate a tyre.. No, Fuck That!! It's giving me the shits..
>>
>>2891734
It's not an issue of cables, the cables signify that they're lying about performance.
>>
if they dont tell you the scfm @90psi or higher pressure its a pos toy noise maker
>>
>>2891734
why do you need to inflate tyres so often? personally I'd use something cordless with a small tank https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3K3JHD4F4_Y you can buy it for a similar price and also use a nail or air gun with it. if you've never used those you may think you don't need them, but you do. I have the one in the vid and it's great, but all cheap cordless compressor are pretty much the same, I even used a die grinder, which I bought on a whim, with it for some quick grind, even though the air capacity is theoretically less than half what is needed and it worked fine. it turned out I love air tools and bought a second big compressor since, but the small one is still extremely useful due to being mobile and oiless and complements the bigger one nicely
>>
>>2891726
the one I bought was around 1/4 of the suggested retail price, but the half pallet delivery additionally cost over 1/3 of its price, making it about 1/3 overall. it arrived yesterday and other than being slightly dirty and having a broken off air filter (and I almost broke off the second one lugging it on the stairs lel), which cost pennies anyway, seems completely fine. one of the quick-connectors was supposed to be broken too, according to the description, but both seem to work fine

That's my mobile compressor for vehicle usage..
I want to Work straight off 12V, not fart about maintaining 36VDC battery pack.
I'm way too impatient for using a thing with those specs.
>workshop tools
yes, I'll soon be purchasing both a mobile and workshop air compressor with tank.. BUT I've not yet researched my options.
>>
>>2890672
Look into the tank with a probe-o-scope and check for a lot of rust.
Devbliss makes 90% of all compressors, and if something else goes wrong, it’s pretty easy to get parts for them.

I'm guessing that 400lpm is at 0 pressure?

There is a 2 cylinder model on Amazon that claims 350LPM or 12.35cfm for $160 that I have in my cart.

Thinking about buying one and putting in a sprayer I bought for onboard air to inflate the air suspension.

If it works good and seems to have good airflow I'll probably replace the one I have on a daily driver pickup to air up tires around the farm and put an air bag system on the rear of it too.

i bought one of these at full price a few yrs back. theres one on warehouse deals now at $265
its impressive the storage volume difference between say 125 and 200 psi. it punches as well as a 12v compressor can i think. i plumbed up a 2nd air brake tank for double volume and could get a 1 ton 10 lug on and off with an ir 2135 gun before i got the big milwaukee. cycle time is about 8 minutes 0 to 200 on the compressor tank alone

I'll guess it's the LabWorks unit (excellent Brand)..
I think Shipping cost is what killed that one for me.

The compressor I'm talking about is:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D95SBFMS

>>2891877
I currently have the Viair 444c (bought the twin packs, but have one single compressor mounted for on board air).

It does work fine, just takes a bit longer to fill a tire than I'd like it to. It says 3.53 cfm for the twin pack so 1.765 cfm for a single compressor. The Viair you linked with the tank claims 1.86cfm so that's a tiny bit better. I have one brake tank plumbed in under the frame. Compressor is mounted in the cab behind the seat so it stays dry and gets good clean air. If I like the one I linked I might replace the one I currently have on that pickup.

>>Thinking about buying one and putting in a sprayer
>I needed 12VDC for car use only, I'll buy for air tools, next.

The sprayer I am talking about is a Willmar 765 air ride sprayer with air bag suspension. I just bought it a couple weeks ago. Yeah it looks stupid in that pic because the steering hinge pin in the frame is absolutely fucked and the air bags are deflated. I need to replace the leaking air bags and then see how long it takes to inflate them using that compressor I linked. Hopefully it airs it up fast enough, although if I get all the leaks stopped it shouldn't be a huge issue. Probably try and plumb in an auxiliary tank as well and probably even tie into it for the air ride seat rather than run another secondary compressor for that...

this looks identical to the viair compressor but much cheaper. viair is likely just upcharging for doing extra qc on chang

Yeh, thats the same thing as the LabWorks model..
That design is excellent & sold under several brand names.

It comes in 780W & 1080W...

AND It comes with digital auto pre-set functions..

ALL the reviews for that model are excellent.

those bags really shouldnt use any significant amount of air. that just has plain old semi leveling valve for ride control?
those wilmars are tanks. pretty well built and reliable. theyre a little too top heavy though especially when roading full
you going to set it up with guidance?

>those wilmars are tanks. pretty well built and reliable. theyre a little too top heavy though especially when roading full
>you going to set it up with guidance?
Yeah I'm thinking once I get the leakage all stopped it won't really take much of a compressor at all to inflate what little bit it does need when needed. There is no current ride control on it at all. In fact it doesn't currently even have any onboard air. Just schrader valves. I'd like to plumb it all up and make life a bit easier though. I have read about guys using those air leveling valves to make them perform better. I think I just need to get it all functional first, then maybe add something like that at a later date after I get it in working condition.

I doubt I'll put any guidance on it. Honestly it's probably overkill as a sprayer for me and way more than I need for my farm, but for the price and with it being somewhat local I couldn't pass it up. The cost of the sprayer was about half of what it would cost to have my farm sprayed once by airplane...

I don't spray a ton right now and am getting away with using a 30' wide 3-point sprayer, but when I do have to spray I hate it. If I even just get the foam marker setup going again on the old Willmar and make it comfortable to use I will probably spray a bit more and not hate my life so much.
