what size bearings do these 4.5in 5lug hubs use on these 4x8ft 1720lb harbor freight trailers?

my research has found me 30205mm for the bearing number
and 25mm for bearing size
i was told to look up bearing part number in the user manual but it just says "bearing" on the parts list.
ive also been told that these trailers use an irregular bearing size. anyone got any useful info?

cheap cast ones will snap like that sometimes. Forged ones are more expensive, but they will bend and deform instead of snapping, and you can usually bend and hammer them back into shape to keep using them.

I don't think a bird can crap enough on a specific target without it taking a few days to cover the solar panel unfortunately. A drone with a release or tipping mechanism would be better. Or sure if they exist off the shelf or if you'd have to 3d print something

Question for the brokedicks; im starting to get lumbar pain when I bend over at the waist (possibly from arthritis and/or bulging disc) because I was a fuckwit as a kid and unironically used the "lift using your back in a jerking twisting motion" technique far too much, and I also liked to pop my back a lot because, again, fuckwit. Other than going to the doctor for surgery (no) and shots and also the gym for back and core strength to take the load off my spine, can an inversion table help with the pain and possibly even allow my spine to heal whatever is healable?

Unfortunately no dice. I pushed it in thinking it was gonna be fine but I got it stuck on the line. The feet are as flat as they go on it so getting it in and out is a bit of a struggle as it is. I shouldn't have pushed this in at all knowing the problem but I was a little frustrated and ready for it to be done.

I don't know what the real best solution is now but at this point I'm kinda ready to just demolish all this tile and move on from there because it's just that awful. My fridge is also having a similar problem because the tile is just ever so slightly too raided so when I replaced it, now I can't slide it in. But I'm open to suggestions.

i opened up the hub and bearings say 30205.

also inner bearing is stiff and the long skinny pieces that hold the roller bearings in place are all kinda bent/collapsed.

walmart might have cheapo kits in stock. you dont even need to knock out the cup races if they arent scored. just swap the cones and pack with grease
running a wheel bearing to failure is a shit idea because itll usually trash the spindle if it seizes up. or lock the tire up and youll drag a flat spot on it so its then junk. or worst case ontario on the drivers side itll spin the nut off and launch the hub and tire into the other lane. im not trying to be mr r*ddit safety officer. ive pulled many sketchy trailers but theres a lot of times around on a little wheel in 500 mi spinning a gorillion rpm @ 65+

^That is the best answer and the best way if not removing the bearing beforehand is photograph the inner and outer races as shown in that photo. (Timken style tapered roller bearings are listed by those numbers as the rollers are sold in the cage attached to the inner race.)

Since OP is replacing them xir should remove both inner and outer to bring as a sample which makes measuring to ensure fit of a different brand since the bearings might be an oddball offshore part number. Bringing a sample pays off.
>>
>>2960779
They're rain proof.

>>2960780
is true. OP is free to get a better job but truly small businesses work on very thin, unreliable margins. If the bonus is in cash that's even better since no need to record it. That xir gets a bonus at all indicates xir are valued so I'd not snivel too hard.

My snow blower keeps going through the shear bolts. They are $7 each. Just two broke today after I already replaced 1 of them.
Why does this keep happening and what cheaper alternative can I use?
Are shear bolts really needed?
>>
>>2961008
>Your snow blower is breaking shear bolts frequently due to encountering too much resistance, such as hitting ice or other debris, or due to a worn-out auger hole. To fix this, first survey the area for rocks and ice before starting, and check for a misshapen hole in the auger that needs repair. You should also ensure you're using the correct shear bolt for your snow blower.

Also, shear pins are necessary because they provide a relatively inexpensive point of failure
>>
>>2961008
Post pic with measurements including bolt length and outside diameter and material.

There is highly likely to be a cheaper bolt, just do NOT select a hardened bolt because the shear bolt is doing its job.
>>
>>2961015
It's smaller than a n m8, probably sae.
The snow wasnt even that wet and there was no debris.

Am I pushing too fast?
>>
>>2961016
Try slowing down drastically then working your way faster. Also find other owners of your specific make and model because that's highly relevant. If there is a general consensus the bolt is insufficient you can experiment with things designed to deform like solid rivets you can knock out with a pin punch.
>>
>>2961022
The worst part, the bolt chank is still on the shaft

Ok. I think I'm gonna try and just take an inch off this tile or so here so the dishwasher can slide in and out a bit easier. What's the best tool here? Grinder with diamond wheel? I gotta get through the wooden raided platform I think too (or whatever it is?

i dont knwo whats happening. two of the last sheer bolts broke off
i replaced the first two with a hitch pin. its all i had that would fit.
one of those broke off.
im moving slower
there is no debris, i cleaned everyhign up prior to snow
when i had two shear bolts and two hitch pins i could hear the engine bog down in heavy wet snow, so i slowed down a lot and went slower and raised it higher to clean it in sections.
what am i doing wrong here? is the snow just too much for this thing? its only like a foot in most places

What does the manual say for recommended use practices?
>>
>>2961089
First of all vacuum that shit.

Then yes a grinder with a diamond blade should do the majority of the job. I'd try and cut it at a 45 degree angle so you have a little slope coming out and only trim off the absolute smallest bit you can get away with. Might need an oscillating tool with a diamond blade to get in the very corners, or just carefully chip it off with a chisel and hammer but make sure you don't break your tile coming out. Can you access that giant cavity beside the dishwasher when sliding the dishwasher in so you can guide the hoses and cords out of the way?

Plunger? Toilet snake?

I've had some that are just fucked designs lately, especially low flow ones they got this plastic flange that put an extra bend in the pipe and gets clogged every shit
>>
>>2961108
I meant more as in a general declog. It flushes fine most of the time but it also clogs for no reason so I know it needs something. Would a snake help with this?
>>
>>2961109
It's never for no reason, it could be buildup, it could be a full septic tank not allowing proper flow. Make up a 5 gallon bucket of hot soapy water with dawn and pour down your toilet. Cheapest thing first
>>
>>2961104
The issue is that won't solve the problem, it's too tight of a space. I've gotta take a little off to comfortably get it in and out. Maybe not too much.

Not exactly the best place to ask but it is a stupid question.

I'm a bit of an auction newbie. A local auction house is liquidating a business. They have several listing that are for identical items. How would you go about bidding to get the lowest price? I only want one of them. Does the first one generally go for the most and the later ones go more cheaply? Or do the prices tend to go up as the items sell? I don't want to overbid on one and see the others go for less.
>>
>>2961281
The one that has the worst pictures will generally sell for the least, but if the specs are different, then that's a factor
Just wait to bid until the end

>The one that has the worst pictures will generally sell for the least
Ha, good to know. I've bought from these guys a few times. Each item ends a few minutes after the last. There is also an anti-sniping feature that extends the auction by a few minutes if a bid is received near the end. So, its quite possible for the price to be very low until the end and then a bidding war starts. That's why I asked if the ones that end earlier or later tend to go for less.

prep your walls, wash and fill holes
put down drop cloths (plastic) you can use the cheapest and just throw them out
prime (killz), hand brush for edges roller for the rest
roller takes some practice you use the paint tray to evenly distribute the paint and remove excess. the nap is the thickness of the fiber and short is smooth long is for rough, a medium is probably good for everything you have. you can wash with water them but it's easier to just throw them out, consume my brotha
next paint, same as prime but paint comes in eggshell which has so little sheen it looks like chalk, satin, semi-gloss and gloss which looks like plastic. apart from appearance they're more difficult to clean in that order.
ceiling paint for ceilings
prep includes removing outlet covers
if it wasn't paint before it takes more prep
after buying paint or primer have the old guy shake it. don't tint your primer but paint needs color added and shaken.
the old guy at the paint counter will tell you everything you need to know
don't skimp on painters tape blue painters tape is the best don't even fuck with tan
painting isn't difficult, painting is messy. painting well is difficult.

They always snap at the hex part anyway. The Milwaukee and all those impact rated ones are supposed to spring back so they typically don’t break at the thin part, they snap at the hex real close to the release on the impact driver and are often a pain in the ass to remove. I’m guessing that part of the adapter is hardened.

On the other end, the cheap HF Warrior ones will also snap eventually near the head of the impact driver, but not before the tool nearly rounds off the hex part because it’s soft ass metal.

Get a proper impact wrench for fasteners larger than like 5/8” or 15mm and save yourself the frustration.

All I can say is be present and ready to bid at the last minute. Try for the one to end first, but also keep an eye on the others about to end. If a bidding war starts on the first one be ready to throw a bid on the next one down the line and so on. Figure out exactly how their bid sniping timer works. A local auction house has a similar feature where if a bid is put in with less than a minute thirty left on the clock it will extend the time back to a minute thirty. I throw my snipe bid in at exactly 1:31 and usually just throw a reasonable price on it that I would like to pay. If the other person/people panic bid and it goes higher than that, oh well I tried. If they get a notification they are outbid they only still have a minute thirty to get their ass online and bid again or I'll end up owning it...

I run the 1/4" hex to 3/8" square bits in my impact drivers. I also use an honest to god 1/2" impact on pretty much anything over a 3/8" (sometimes 7/16 though they are pretty rare) bolt... So I'm sure that has saved a bunch of them from busting over the years. You're usually not going to accomplish much with an impact driver on a 1/2" bolt, so why bother.

I can plausibly run it either near the ceiling or around the doorframe and then back down to the desk. Does anybody have ideas on how to attach it though? I'd like it to be inconspicuous so those cable clips held on nails would be not ideal, also the wall is cinderblocks with some plaster and paint on top so hammering in small nails would have a very high chance of cracking the plaster and having it flake off and being a massive pain.
I'm thinking adhesive, does anyone have any suggestions for an adhesive method to stick something to a painted wall? Ideally removable without ripping the wall apart.

If left to my own devices I might do something stupid like try sticking it with two-part epoxy, but I'm not sure if it will hold and if it does I'm not sure if it will be removable without taking all the paint and plaster with it.

Tile flooring, can't go under. Door doesn't have a threshold, it's continuous tiling through to the corridor.

How do you identify knots? are there any good databases autistically analysing them?

I was fiddling with some string and accidentally tied what turned out to be quite an easy to tie in line loop knot, but the usual sites with popular knots and the abok didn't have anything like it.

I don't have a picture but the knot i tied was pretty easy to make.
take the string in your left hand, loop it once over your fingers, now bring the loose end through the back of the knot to create what would be a slip knot loop, stop there and ignore the slip knot, at the top where the 1st loop crossed over seprate the strings and pull up the bottom of the furst loop up through the gap, finally slip the slip loop over this new loop and tighten it all off.

is there any sort of mathematical database documenting knots?

You can go Ariat work boots and still keep the cowboy theme going.

I have 2 pairs I’ve been breaking in hard for like 6 months. I can’t really judge on them yet but they’re water resistant to a point and comfy enough. You’re not going to find much for $100 unless you get some Walmart shoes. You’re probably better off taking their credit and paying the difference on decent boots, you will waste more money calling out of work with fucked up feet.

Also check if you have an outlet mall nearby, one of those Ariat pairs was only $90 off of $230. They had 2 pairs in my size and I sort of regret not buying both but I still have another $200 credit at work for boots this year.

>is there any sort of mathematical database documenting knots?
In the field of topology, yes, but that's unrelated to physical knots made with rope for some utilitarian purpose. There are so many possible knots (specifically aleph-null, countably infinite) that actually documenting all possible knots is outright impossible, and only very simple systems might be said to be reasonably well explored. For example, consider the "interlocking overhands" class of bend knot, which includes things like the Zeppelin, Hunter's, Butterfly, and Ashley's bend. With just those two overhand knots on the end of two ropes interweaving somehow, there are so many simple permutations that constructing a new one is not hard to do. Someone might have tried to formalize a system of describing rope knots, but it would probably be a mess at least comparable to organic chemistry structural formulas.

>I don't have a picture but the knot i tied was pretty easy to make.
Your description is too vague to specify what you're doing. An MS paint doodle could illustrate the knot. It might be literally worth a thousand words here, since knots are three-dimensional objects, and you'd need to construct a reference frame for describing each part of the tying of the knot.

>take the string in your left hand
In what orientation? Is one end fixed, or are both free?

>loop it once over your fingers
The free end of the string? A bight? Make a round turn around the fingers in one direction or the other? Make a loop in the air above the left hand? What chirality should the loop be?

>now bring the loose end through the back of the knot
Which part is the back? And what constitutes bringing it "through" the back? Do you mean to say to pass the end through the loop (which is being held in some orientation) in one way or the other?
>>
>>2962332
>>2962332>to create what would be a slip knot loop
>etc.
A "slip knot" is synonymous with "noose", which is a very broad category of knots which have a loop that closes when something it is tied around pulls against it. A great many hitches are nooses. In following a possible permutation of your instructions, I produced a Buntline hitch, which is a slip knot/noose.

Putting that aside, tying a new knot that no one has ever tied before is much like writing a number that no one has ever written before. You don't have to write very many digits before most random numbers that size have never been written by a human, and once you know what to do, doing it again is pretty easy. The trick with inventing knots isn't making something new, it's making something new that is interesting somehow, or more rarely, actually useful. So what's interesting or useful about this loop knot? Is it especially easy to tie or untie, maybe with one hand or when wearing gloves? Does it resist jamming? Can it be tied or untied under load? Does it handle hoop loading well? Is it stable in coarse polypropylene rope (that slippery and springy yellow stuff)? Will it hold in dental floss?

Maybe it's just interesting as a knot you found. Consider how the structures of the knot influence its loading and handling characteristics, and how you might alter it to change these. If you continue fiddling with these sorts of thoughts in mind, you might find more interesting things.

I thought it was a pretty simple loop.
>>
>>2962544
In terms of properties:
pretty simple to tie no harder than a butterfly to change its size.
I had been playing with a few ideas after I was frustrated by the butterfly jamming surprisingly tight when up on the loop.
So I started experimenting with things like the farmers loop which I found a little easier to untie.
their three wrap method is similar and that inspired me to start exploring how to vary their construction and analyse their structure for clues about their nature.
a lot of my variants untied but I noticed a few elements.
I had tried to focus on bight loops but found what was basically a double overhand with the bight pulled up through the centre of the two twists to be the natural end point of what I was trying.
https://www.netknots.com/rope_knots/double-overhand-stopper-knot
it created a kind of weird knot that would just sit flat on a surface facing upwards. but because it needed to be tied with an open end it frustrated me so I started trying to achieve something similar but on a bight.
Eventually after a bit on simplification I got to the knot I drew. when I stress tested it it held well and was relatively easy to pull apart if you pulled it apart the right way but didn't seem to jam up like an alpine butterfly.
the way it just seem to pull apart after you remove the cinching slip knot and pull it apart from either end is fun to watch.
a positive or negative of it is that it's a directional loop not a neutral one, and when the loop is cross loaded it loosens the cinch but that's also what makes it easier to undo after loading which might cause cycling damage longer term.

Nothing revolutionary I was just surprised I couldn't find such a simple knot documented so I wondered if there were and database project cataloguing knots or at least a few forums with knot obsessives.
>>
>>2962544
Oh my commnt about the direction of the slip knot as it goes over the loop isn't quite right, one direction sems to be more neutral while other bring the loop down and makes it a much more directional loop closer to exiting line
>>
>>2962561
Yes, that looks like it should be pretty jam-resistant. Could be situationally useful.

>I was just surprised I couldn't find such a simple knot documented
That's actually fairly complex as far as (non fishing or decorative) knots go. Look at the drawing. There are ten crossings in the schematic of the finished knot. Consider that any crossing could go either of two ways, and that 2^10 is 1024. Then consider that the connections between those crossings could be arranged differently. There are 10! possible orderings of ten items, which is 3,628,800. The degrees of freedom in rope paths means that the number of permutations explodes quickly. At that level of complexity, you can probably expect that most knots will have never been documented.
>>
>>2962582
It's really not that complex mate, it's fundamentally a trivial modification of the simple overhand slip knot one of the most common knots.
The only novelty is pulling the loop up through the twist, using the slip knot to cinch it is a trivial progression.

There are maybe three other easy methods to lock off a simple overhand slip knot. half hitch above, half hitch below and a stopper knot.

Someone has to have documented or used it other than Ashley but I don't know where to look.
>>
>>2962601
>It's really not that complex mate
Have a look through ABoK. Most knots there which are more complex than yours involve repeating something simple rather than a series of unique steps. And there are a lot of ways to lock simple knots. There's been considerable effort to find an optimal lock for the bowline to make it secure in modern synthetics, and despite being such a simple knot to start, there are a lot (a lot a lot) of proposed locks which are themselves also fairly simple but non-trivial to tie. This is actually a drawback for practicality, since the large number of possibilities means that finding a lock which is intuitive to tie correctly (and to visually check that it's tied correctly) is itself non-trivial.
>>

In the case of the bowline in particular, it's mostly rock climbers dissatisfied with the figure 8 followthrough. I can't speak to any in particular, but mountaineering and climbing forums may have relevant discussions. It also came up from time to time at the International Guilt of Knot Tyers forum, but that appears to be defunct now.

To elaborate on the bowline situation, the figure 8 followthrough is strong and secure, but it requires the tying of a figure 8 knot before passing the rope around the item to be secured, and it is prone to jamming when heavily loaded (as when it catches a fall in climbing). The bowline does not require any pre-tying (it is known as a post-eye-tieable loop knot), and it is very jam-resistant, but it tends to shake loose in modern climbing ropes. The "locked" bowline proposals seek to maintain the jam resistance of the base knot by securing the loose end of the rope somehow. They also typically improve the bowline's relatively modest strength. The proposals in pic related maintain the bowline's tendency to not compact tightly into a hard lump of rope when loaded. I don't climb much, so I don't have that particular use case. Instead, I mostly use bowlines for temporary utilitarian purposes (where the standard bowline is enough on typical ropes), though on slippery polypropylene I use a variant that compacts tight enough on itself to stop the knot from exploding when not loaded. For things like tow lines (where the ideal termination is an eye splice), I use an entirely different post-eye-tieable knot which is much stronger than bowline derivatives.

Those are solid polycarbonate, probably a lot more durable than your regular glasses. Probably more durable than most prescription safety glasses too, in my experience. Any impact-rated safety glasses will have polycarbonate lenses, and probably a plastic frame too. The main drawback is that as one-size-fits-all options they may not fit well enough to be comfortable over long duration wear. But prescription safety glasses need to grip harder than regular glasses, so they aren't as comfortable themselves. In my experience, every single person who wears glasses who works in a site requiring safety glasses, wears prescription safety glasses. Say I will put hinges, solenoids pulling stuff, rotating gears etc on some board and simulates how it behaves as things move?

SolveSpace seems to be kind of give what I mostly need. It is more of a consraint solver but should be enough for now.

Here me trying to design a pinball arm. the part I am dragging with be pulled by a solenoid. I am trying to figure out dimensions I want for the best closed/open flipper angles for given solenoid pull distance I have

Alri lads?
I'm starting to see blue mould growing on bits of wood in my garage.
There aren't any vents built in and I'm hoping that would solve the issue. I can't block leakages until after winter.
What's the best way to do this?

Is it possible to get the charge out of one of these batteries into another without the proper charger?
>>
>>2962971
Yeah, you can suck the charges from one battery into another one. Suck some electrons out from the negative terminal of the charged terminal, make sure you don't swallow the electrons, and blow the charges back into the negative terminal of the empty battery.
>>

I am charging the one I have the charger for rn going to try to connect the positive terminals and negatives like jumping a car battery once it's fully charged I just hope it doesn't end horribly. I see a .2v difference and not sure if that's going to cause issue, guess I'll find out.

Why does everyone shits on electricians?

Because they are an easy target.

im in the northern tip of the sonora desert and i have a concrete area that catches a couple thousand gallons of water during heavy storms and i have to pump this water out a few times a year so i figured i would get some trees growing on the edge of the concrete for shade. theres a few palo verde sprouts ive been watering the pst couple years that have really taken off but i wanna get some hardwood trees growing as well. locals say 'ironwood' and 'mesquite' grow out here so i would like to get some growing

tldr: where can i source ironwood and mesquite sprouts and seeds around here?

tips and advice?

I painted a guitar with this stuff cause it's cheap. Supposedly it's an acrylic lacquer. Looks good, went on fine. Not sure how durable it is(even as far as lacquer goes), thinking about putting an automotive clear coat on it, even another lacquer. Any recommendations? Has to be a rattle can causebit's winter and im not getting my paint guns out for 20 minutes. I painted a scrap piece the same way to test it on.

I really like Rust-Oleums "clear" spray paints
No idea wtf they are but they don't yellow and are fairly durable
Lacquer or spar urethane would likely be optimal

I got a new kitten and he's already bitten through a string of xmas lights, and now my door blinds. Is there a 'thing' I can buy to crimp these 2 back together like a butt splice connector (but looks okay)?

Had an incident with my favorite kitchen appliance recently, bread machine spilled over and stuff fell onto the heating element. I was wondering what's the best way to clean smoke and burns off of metal? The whole interior of it stinks and has this black brown coating

Do rotor screws exist to discourage DIY-er's? After enough PB blaster, impact hammering, and converting some into slotted screws I got them off, but man they are the biggest hurdle for simple car maintenance work.

Guess you could power a constant current DC supply (loads of boards on aliex) and use that to charge the other battery. Research how to "manually" charge that specific battery chemistry and don't leave it unattended lol
Sometimes with my AA NiMHs they get too low for the charger and briefly (like 10s) connecting in parallel with a fully charged cell gets them going
