>>2852699the remake is being much more faithful to the source, plus it's likely it will actually continue past book 4 (in later seasons) eventually as theres some good names behind the project and plenty of brand recognition nowdays.the original was effectively an ad to sell the LN, which had pretty weak sales at the time, hence no season 3+ but now they have two manga series, he's still making LNs, plenty of brand recognition and a large fanbase, it's got some weight now and is much more likely to continue than literally a brand-new animation studios first ever anime during the big anime slump of 2005-2015

>>2854112the old one only skipped one filler book (i mean technically the entire series is filler until book 7) and changed some minor details, i think it would've been fine to continue it except it's been over a decade and selling "spice and wolf season 3" is less incentivising than selling "the completely new adventures of a spice and wolf that you've never seen before! season one"either way it's been great so far, at least as good as the original. the CGI is a let down but it's no less budget-saving than the original having half the runtime be still panning shots, so it's not a big knock
i hate her new voice, i realise it's the same VA but she obviously has very different direction this time around. it's too high-pitched and whimsical, rather than her older, more mature sound in the original
