Pounamu is different to a typical accessory as you usually don't buy it for yourself but rather as a gift so people don't usually have much choice in what they receive. I would say pick something you like if you can, but being but /fa/ or effay isn't a considerationat least as a Kiwi living in NZ rather what it means to you. The cultural value is the main drawing point for Greenstone as its all locally sourced and is different from Chinese Jade.
