where do you guys sell your used watches? do you ever take them to a pawn shop, seems like the easiest and fastest way
>>18095797Sadly the only viable option is chrono24.Pawn shops offer you less than half of what you bought it for.
>>18095797>pawn shops why would anyone sell there unless they're desperate? they'll give you maybe 40% of its value
>>18095797If you need to sell your watches, you need to reevaluate your poor decision making process that led you to get that watch in the first place. That said, the best price you’ll get is selling directly through forums like WUS, but that comes with risk of getting scammed. C24 and eBay are safer but have onerous fees that reduce the amount of money you’ll get.
>>18095801>>18095816That's what I suspected too...>>18095821I don't need to sell anything. >>18095835What I ended up doing is gifting them left and right. Brothers, friends. And sell a one to a friend who always wanted it.
>>18095835That’s the problem when you binge on watches. You fall out of love with them very quickly. What people rarely learn is that they get addicted to the feeling of buying a new watch, not the enjoyment of owning it.
>>18095848>they get addicted to the feeling of buying a new watch, not the enjoyment of owning it.Exactly. And the new watch afterglow lasts less and less, even as the watches get more and more expensive. Don’t forget also about the feeling of regret when they look at their watch box full of watches they don’t want anymore.
>>18095848>they get addicted to the feeling of buying a new watch, not the enjoyment of owning it.This is why watch "flippers" give me the ick, they're like little children trying to assuage their itch for new shinies.
>>18095857In the case of watch collectors, they’re also doing it for attention on social media. >>18096781Some 30 year old woman's size Rolex? That's all you are getting for 3k. Or a 60 year old shitter rolex
My watch is not only a timepiece, but a statement of my taste and sophistication. The intricate design and Swiss craftsmanship are unparalleled, a true reflection of my discerning eye for luxury. Its precision and elegance speak volumes about my refined sensibilities, setting me apart from those who do not appreciate the finer things in life. In every glance at its sleek face, I am reminded of the distinction and refinement that I embody.
>>18096848It’s a Seiko prospex solar diver’s. It’s probably not the worst bracelet in the world but I’m not satisfied with it, the strap is so much better
>>18096877Idk, I must have autism and can only wear leather or bracelets. Nato straps, perlon, rubber, etc I've tried but they always are so fiddly and I end up swapping to a bracelet
Ray II came in.

>>18096914Based. Love old Panerais.
>>18096542>Protip: try them on in store...the new 3861s fit almost identically to the older 1861s and 321s. If you like it, then try it on again another time when you're in a different mood. If you still like it, you win. This is my plan. I tried them on a week or two ago and have been letting it marinade in my mind, ill probably go back the next weekend im free and see how much i still like it.>>18096544but think of how many sats i could have for that money
Any idea what watch Russel Crowe wears in Sleeping Dogs? Not the best shot but maybe someone mentioned it on some forum or somewhere?

Thinking of buying a Vostok Amphibia as my first real watch for a bit over $100 from amazon. I like its unique style with the little iconography and green in the middle. Good choice or should I get something else?
>>18097273>>18097273>Vostok Amphibia>>18097273>first real watchthanks for the keks m8
>>18097273Get that one to begin with. It's a name with history and won't be mogged in a future collection. Once you spend the next few years saving for a luxury wrist watch you will always have a true and dependable beater you can be proud of. Do not fall into the trap of buying a bunch of inexpensive watches
>>18097273I found mine in a box, i dont wear it much though. Needs maintenance that i dont really want to have done so it runs slow even if you keep it wound.
>>18097278Will do, thanks anon.>Do not fall into the trap of buying a bunch of inexpensive watches I don't plan on it>>18097279Nice find, its a very beautiful watch. I have read complaints that about its winding and whatnot.
>>18097273Just get a decent quartz watch and be done with it, don't bother with mechanical shitters, especially russian ones.
Should I really care if my Hamilton and my other watch with a Sellita 210 movement (supposedly top grade) be around +10 and +15 spd or should I try to demagnetize it? I feel like other people get better accuracy than what I got
>>18097286Using the demagnetizer in small bursts isn't going to hurt anything. You way as well give it a try and see what happens. Is the Hamilton one of the newer powermatic variations or one of the older ETA ones? The new ones are regulated in house with lasers and shit and can't be adjusted by third parties, and they're usually regulated much better than that, but barring trying to demagnetize it or sending it in to Hamilton for service there's not much else you could do about it.
>>18097276What's wrong with the Amphibia that would make it "not a real watch" ? It's a perfect entry into mechanical timepieces.>>18097273An amphibia was pretty early for me. I have a handful of watches that are inexpensive I've accumulated over the years through childhood, etc, but the Amphibia was the first mechanical I bought. It's my official swimming/pool/beach/watch since as stated it's fairly inexpensive and I know it'll stay waterproof if I don't open it (I won't) I used the stock bracelet for a while but got sick of it and put it on a zuludiver rubber strap. Still got some sand stuck in the bezel but it rotates alright so whatever. I personally liked this face more than the ones with a motif, I wanted one where there was no number replaced by the date window. I liked the stark Russian-ness of it. Good watch. Only one is needed for the whole experience, though I wouldn't mind a Pripyat with the full lumed dial.
>>18097306>What's wrong with the Amphibia that would make it "not a real watch" ?not expensive enough/not the right brand for some people here. literally nothing else.

There have been other watches that I might have gone back and forth on, but honestly, the Speedies always sang to me every time I put them on.

>>18097306>What's wrong with the Amphibia that would make it "not a real watch" ? It's a perfect entry into mechanical timepieces. It's a novelty piece of junk made of tin foil that isn't even novelty anymore because the USSR doesn't exist.

>>18097110Cool idea but the dial just doesn't look appealing to me.I absolutely adore how Moritz Grossmann makes their watches, especially the movements, but for some reason they refuse to make a basic watch with the old-school logo, a minimalist dial and indices, and the basic handwound movement.
>>18097595>>18097585You are weaving your own story on the timepiece with those scratches, they add tasteful wear on to it. Watches are meant to be worn and enjoyed. Think of the day you pass that on to your kid, they'll see you enjoyed life. That's a better story than "my dad never dared to wear this watch for fear of scratching it so it sat in a box most of the time".

>>18097614All you had to do is get the nb1050.
>>18097619Nah it's a bit too soft looking and I prefer the double bars at 12 and 6.
>>18097621Enjoy your Tsuyosa then, much prefer that over the PRX tbqh fäm.
>>18097618I still don't have a citizen, but there's this guy who wants me to get one with the Washi paper dial and the 5 seconds per year accuracy. I would've bought one by now because it might just be the best quartz watch of all time, but I'm iny exit-watch phase. And the citizen, or any citizen (sorry) doesn't fit in that category.
>>18097623in my*
>>18097614Seriously though, where does one go from here? This pics feel is that of someone who's at his peak and has achieved anything he wants from life. It's like... he didn't find the watch, the watch and him found each other to create this moment of bliss and appreciation of life itself.
>>18097622Me too, I thought hard about a prx but in the end i wasnt completely sold on either the dial texture nore the markers, and the hands are a bit phat as well. The bracelet is nicer than the citizen one though, I may replace my own one with a prx style one in time.
