>>18163523you don’t find LADAS too powdery for warm weather? also, lately i’ve found that it’s reminiscent of arm and hammer alpine clean laundry detergent, which makes me wonder about the similarity in the name. >>18163531not really, no. it smells like sycomore but cheap and repulsive, with an iso e super overdose almost designed to make you noseblind to it just to ensure that you don’t even get your $20’s worth out of it.

Ok anons, please help me waste my time and money. Got a bonus at work, deciding to blow 10% post tax on frags and save the rest. I have $600, I want to get 2 or 3 frags for the summer. I'd like to get something with citrus, woods and musk that doesn't smell like Aventus or it's clones but has a similar feel. Bohemian Lime doesn't smell like Aventus at all, but it has a similar setup (lime, woods, musk). That's the sort of thing I'm looking for.Frags I've been using lately in the heat:>Francesca Bianchi Libertine Neroli>Bois 1920 Classic>Thomas Kosmala Desir du Couer>Les Indemodables Escale en Indonesie >Loewe 7 Plata>Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint>Parfums d'empire Azemour Les Oranges>Nishane Colognise>Chanel Paris Edinburgh

Not bad though. >>18163689I can confirm Bohemian Lime is a great summer freshie if you don’t already have it. You’ll occasionally see people claim they associate it with the smell of hotdogs (I think the coriander note?) so don’t blind buy, but great choice. >Francesca Bianchi Libertine NeroliTwo things worth point out regarding Bianchis. 1) Her DNA is extremely distinctive, to the point where if you own more than one of her frags they’re borderline redundant because of how similar they are. 2) This may be unique to Etruscan Water, but I think it’s true of all her frags, they’re loud as fuck. Projection, sillage, duration, they’re all high, so keep that in mind.Slight addendum as well, imo they’re pretty heavy too, so if you follow the traditional ‘weather’ suggestions I don’t think hers would be a good fit for summer. It doesn’t really fit your citrus, woods, musk request, but if you’d like another summer freshie that’s different that most hot weather frags, get >Ghost in the Shell

>>18163887That’s a pretty broad request, Iron Duke does a pretty reasonable job imitating the scent of medieval knight, imo. Chandlery by Pineward also gives a very unique ‘old timey’ feel. I imagine an old wood hewn shack filled with animal hides and tallow candles, a fire crackling away in the fireplace.
Has anyone tried pic related or any other Ajmal? I had Hommage a l'homme Voyageur by Lalique, this one also has patchouli and cardamom, are they anything alike? Also thinking about buying Loewe 7, had a sample years ago and really liked it, has it been watered-down in the meantime?
>>18163920>Iron Duke does a pretty reasonable job imitating the scent of medieval knight, imoWhat a retarded statement

Should fragrance be sprayed until skin glistens? I see some people on YouTube spraying multiple sprays on the same spot. I'm worried that I may choke people, but on the other hand Joel the nose says people usually under spray and the normal spraying routine should be 10-12 sprays per application.ON the other hand fragrances are expensive and I don't want to spray a lot, so I choose the following. Instead of spraying 5 times every day, I spray 15 times twice per week.
>>18163970Why does pic have a brown cap?It should be black.
>>18164094I think its just trying to display that it's wooden or something
Hi frag Anons, I would love to have your input on the following:(Context: I am a beginning frag enthusiast, wanting to start a small collection. I currently own: Dior Eau Sauvage, Lalique EN, Lalique PH Lion, Joe Malone Fig Lotus (gift from brother), Givenchy Pi (first perfume I bought myself, don't like it all anymore, pretty shitty but hey we all start somewhere.))I want to add a bit more variety to my collection, but not sure where to start. Pretty sure I would like to steer clear of most common designer stuff. I have been reading up on perfumers such as Nicolai, Zoologist, Caron.I am considering buying the sample set from Nicolai, can't go wrong with having several samples, even though I might not like half of them, would be good to experiment with.As for Zoologist, it seems that they are hit or miss for a lot of folks, will definitely sample before buying one. Might consider ordering a few samples from their website at some point.I also have been looking at the scent profiles of Pour Un Homme, Aimez moi comme je suis, and Yatagan.I know that Yatagan is considered to be quite a "wild" fragrance by many, but I like to think I can handle it (haven't smelled it though). Basing this on the following: I do have Encre Noir, a perfume which many characterize as "dark", "piny", but I honestly think it is pretty smooth, relatively agreeable, if not a bit darker scent. Going off the Yatagan description, I think this might be what I am looking for. The other two Caron's I mentioned; aimez moi, not sure I will like the nutty note so will probably not even consider it. Pour un homme sounds nice, although a bit dated. Not sure how dated though, I have Lalique PH Lion which some people call old fashioned, I think it's perfectly wearable for a 20 - 30 year old.I would also at some point like to add a proper winter scent to my collection. Any tips for this as well? Thanks!
You should only have 1, 2 maybe 3 fragrances. One for Cold weather, one for Hot weather and one for when you want something different. I currently have 5 fragrances with me and another 9 at home. We shouldn't be greedy.
>>18164109What if I have more than that
>>18164106Don't sleep on designer fragrances. Mass appealing means that people like them, and you are people. They are made to smell good, so don't snob them.
>>18164106Probably nobody will read this.
>>18164110If you have more fragrances than me, then you will starve. If you have more than 3, then you will be miserable for the rest of your life
>>18164115>then you will be miserable for the rest of your lifeThat I knew before anyway
>>181641061. read the OP2. check the charts3. read LT's guides4. lurk moar5. ????6. PROFIT!!!you are welcome
>>18163497Fragrance tipsEat the drink Only buy if bottle looks nice. Imagine how lazy the designer would be to make a boring bottle. Imagine how much he doesn't care about what he made if it's a boring bottleSpray on your skin, not on your clothes. Fragrance is designed to last longer on your skin Spray it on your clothes, not on your skin. The fabric allows the fragrance to project more Spray the correct amount. Why are you an idiot? Jeremy says 5 times, joel says 11, curly says 30. So do it! Why are you doing it wrong?Only wear top 10 fragrances. If you don't know the top 10 fragrances, look it up on YouTube and you'll be enlightened Again, eat the drink
>>18164138i do all of these except i only buy cheap gragrances that are inspired by expensive ones
Ironic shitposting is still shitposting
>>18163865Let's see your collection Mohammed.
>>18164106Discovery sets are your friend. Low volume, wide variety (depending on the house), and cheap if the sample number isn’t huge. If you’re looking to get into this as a hobby, buy them just for the experience. Mind you it’s an expensive and socially ostracized hobby. Also, it’s the hardest rule to learn and you probably won’t learn it until it’s too late, but never buy a full bottle of something until you’ve drained a smaller decant of it, preferably at least 10 mL. Keep that bottle of Pi as a reminder. As far as sample sets go, you’ll find most of them (most houses in general) are like how you described Zoologist, 1-2 big names from the house, a bulk of mediocre fragrances, and 1-3 hard misses they keep for posterity or something. As far as good discovery sets, as you mentioned Nicolai is decent, perfect example where it has New York Intense, arguably her biggest frag, and a bunch of extremely mid stuff.Rogue Perfumery is similar, big hits with Mousse Illuminee and Bon Monsieur, a few mids, 1-2 low tier stuff.Etat Libre d’Orange is a great cheap set to pickup with a huge variety, more misses but essential for the experience. Essential Parfums’ discovery set is the epitome of a dirt cheap set with a decent range. If you’re willing to drop a little more money Zoologist does have a really good variety of frags, but as you said they’re very hit or miss. If you’re going to get them, only get the full set, never just a portion. Pineward is even more narrow in scope (woods/earth), but has some unique fragrances you won’t find anywhere else. Beaufort London is another good house if you’re into darker, smokier type frags. Tauer also has many great works but they only come broken up into smaller batches, all three are worth getting though. Last, and most importantly: this >>18164112Ignore the idiotic war waged between designer and niche tards. Both have their merits, both have a place, to forsake one is to deprive yourself.
>>18164195Just as a very brief addendum to that last paragraph, the only downside is designer houses don’t really do discovery sets. The trade-off is you can usually find a nearby department store or two to try what interests you on a card, and then get a couple samples to take home and try on skin - all completely free.
>>18163868Went from trying Zino (and Avignon) to testing Quorum (and The Dreamer). Fuck. The 90’s were the best time to be a kid but holy shit the 80’s were clearly the best time to be an adult. Again, opens as a distinctly “old man” scent, but this is good shit.

Fragrance is essential to aquire a woman, because women pay attention to smell. In fact it's the most important physical feature we men can have, even more important than height. And that's not lies, scientists say that.Of course personality matters too, but since you should always be yourself and never someone else, you can only change your personality slightly. If you're wondering why you get rejected, why you don't get attention and looks, then you should try increasing those sprays. I promise you'll see the difference, people are going to act differently and they're going to love you.
I bought the usual dupes from Lattafa and Armaf and, after a week, they still smell very synthetic. I smelled the Aventus, Silver Mountain Water, and Angel share that they were based on to compare, and it's ridiculous how people really think the clones are even marginally close to the originals. How the fuck did they get away with this?

>>18164777NYI smells like an old man but it's not that old. It's about scent profiles more than actual age and lavender + vanilla sounds good on paper, also everyone says it's smooth as fuck and refreshing while not being a typical freshie
>>18164737I wouldn't say "old man", but I don't know what you associate with age. its a pleasant lavender throughout, that dries down into soft vanilla musk. its more unisex than "old man". I bought a sample and drained it, then bought a bottle. 4 - 5 hours, low projection, pleasant scent to be around.
>>18164782Unisex is fine. It's just some scent profiles I just associate with grandpas. Most chypres, stuff like NYI, eau sauvage, a few others.
any fragrances or profile notes pointing me to the direction of this
>>18164783I agree with you on most of the scents listed: I enjoyed NYI, even bought a 10 mL decant but find myself at a loss of when to use it. He tried to pass down this hate of goblin rape baby bogart like a family heirloom but I think by the time I was born nobody cared about bogart anymore and he secretly resented it because there wasn't anyone around anymore to listen to him get mad about that stodgy little cradle robbing midget pulling up bacall's dress. But claiming it's the best ever just means you don't really have your own tastes and are letting random people on TikTok make decisions for you
Trying Encre Noire and ENS for the first time. Can’t say I care for EN, it’s not particularly bad, but it’s not great either. The opening is okay (first 15~ or so), but smells like bone dry wood though. Admittedly smelled a bit more dank when I primed the atomizer and got a whiff of some directly in the air. After that though it just smells like faux wood, a bit akin to particle board, but different. Have to assume that’s just the smell of vetiveryl acetate, and I don’t care for it. The Sport is similar in structure just different scent. Starts out pretty great actually, a pleasant clean, green potpourri scent with a marine undertone in the front. After 30 min though the green and marine notes die off just leaving the vaguely pseudo-clean scent that’s borderline floral. The sport is better than the original for me, but neither wow me.
>>18165175Honestly the only vetivers you really need are Guerlain Vetiver and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.
