is it possible to pull off this type of trench coat
>>
I tried it and got mixed results.

Some people who encouraged me and told me it looked good, others who said I should take it to a tailor and shorten the coat. And some kids who called me Sherlock but I think they sounded positive :^)

bro thats a $26 aliexpress trenchcoat what the fuck?
>is it possible
yes it is very possible to pull off a full length trenchcoat or any length below the knee.
its one of the best looking types of jackets on women, manlets, and very tall men.
especially for manlets because they should avoid _ALL_ jackets that end in the space between your hip to your knee.
never wear a thin, cheap looking polyester trench coat though.
they look best made of substantive materials. a proper traditional trench is made from garbadine or poplin but i think they can look and function quite nicely in fabrics like this undyed heavy scottish tweed or heavy wool.
>>
>>18241473
Wdym
Millions of people use trenchs every day
>>
yeah see, that's >>18241484 what a proper one looks like.
average height guys can wear any length trench, traditionally they end below the knee.
short guys should wear slightly shorter than full length and only w/ wide trousers.
tall guys should wear full length.

Most of the ones I see are super short jokes like this...

>especially for manlets because they should avoid _ALL_ jackets that end in the space between your hip to your knee.

Never heard anyone say this before, care to elaborate?
>>
>>18241498
sorry i mean manlet + short legs specifically. which most short guys are.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFtgTD4vd_w
this guys a berg but he's right about this one. jackets that end at the thigh just look weird on most short guys. full length and cropped always look better.
>>
>>18241498
on that model.
that jacket would fit full length on me and show 6in of leg.
>>
oh you mean your pic's a super short one not mine durr.
i was gonna say its on the short side for what you want a trench to fit on that model but any length below knee to preference is a good trench.
>>
>>18241473
as a woman easily, as a man it's very hard to
>>
>>18241484
did you wear your chinos under or over your wool trousers..?
>>

>>18241519
The one I posted ends at the waist and is what I most often see people wearing because they are afraid of long coats.
>>18241503
I see, interesting point. I always thought however that a long coat on a short man creates the "toddler wearing his daddy's clothes" look which was mentioned in the video.

No, it will always look weird on men. Blame pedos and women for ruining it.
Just get a Mac/Car Coat instead.
>>
>>18241473
If you're a woman you need to elevate the rest of your outfit otherwise it will look like the coat is "wearing you". Women are lazy and usually think they can look good by just getting an expensive item while still dressed in skintight torn "jeans"

https://www.sehkelly.com/
they only have the trench coat in kevlar right now that one's a wool one.
they run stuff seasonally and as fabric's available & everything on their garments is sourced in the british isles.
they're pretty responsive to email if you show interest in something they ran in the past. typically if they can make it happen (fabric availability etc) they probably will.
>>
>>18241473
just like with most things that arent t-shirts, plastic shoes, plastic jackets or jeans: if you're a woman you can wear them but if you're a man you'll get strange looks and will look weird. just accept it, as a guy currently you have to wear the capitalist drone uniform or you'll look out of place
>>

That's a gay little pea coat. No man should be caught dead in those. Let women wear them.
>>
>>18243127
No, fuck the NPCs. You'll only get strange looks if you suddenly start wearing "unconventional" clothes that you're not used to. If that's all you've ever worn, then people will notice that you aren't cosplaying but just wearing your regular clothes. Well-worn clothes fit and look different on you and like your own, no matter what type. It's also about confidence. If you walk around sheepishly and self-consciously because you're worried about what others might think, then you'll look weird.

i've been wearing picrel but with casual shoes or calfskin sneakers instead of boots as my main fit this summer and its been nothing but compliments from the normalfags.

>>
>>18245397
But you're in the wrong thread :^)
>>
i wear a trench coat basically every day and its definitely possible
i highly recommend you to get a more traditional design than picrel though
the collar and the belt and such look very excessive, a coat can be very striking so you want to keep it on the subtle side
trench coats are generally worn within a sort of dressed up business style with men, so you might want to lean into that a bit

Secret product and a trench!
Secret product and a trench!
>>
If you wear a trenchcoat when it rains and wear it with chinos, an oxford, over a suit, etc you'll be fine. If you wear one over a T-shirt and jeans when it's not raining you'll look like a weirdo.
If it's not raining wear a balmacan, a polo coat, an overcoat or a duffle coat. Long coats are awesome and men should wear them more.
>>
>>18246402
i know a nyc jew who's been getting extensive cosmetic surgery because he can't figure out why he repulses women and he's still wearing peacoats and plastic frame mirror lens sunglasses in 2024 as a 40 year old man.
>>
>>18246633
I don't see a problem with a 40 year old wearing a peacoat, that still mogs 99% of his peers with their lame synthetic puffers.

Are you sure it's trenches you are seeing and not other types of coats? Trenches are very specific.

That said, I saw one woman wearing one today (but it didn't have all details like the epaulettes).
>>
>>18241484
I want to get a more rugged kind of cotton trench with like a canvas texture. I think it would look cool and age well. And be more wearable casually than formal trenches.

It's supposed to be tryhard. If you're trying to look "casual" with a double breasted trench coat with epaulettes I don't know what to tell you..
>>
>>
>>18248001
You don't get what I mean. Wearing a suit is formal but you can still look effortless doing it, the model in that photo doesn't look effortless.

And a trenchcoat is a casual coat, mate.

I need to bike under the rain so I can't use an umbrella, what hat do I style with my trench coat? The noir detective hat might be too larpy and I can't find it online anyway, other options that would go well? Maybe a color matched bucket hat?

I've been to Europe in the fall/winter. Hell, I've *lived* there during that time, and *no one*, and I mean no one, was wearing khaki trench coats like >>18247982. I'm not saying they aren't fashionable; to the contrary: they are a classic piece. However, millennials and zoomers aren't interested in wearing classic pieces, just whatever garbage they see on TikTok.

Well if you are biking you should be wearing a helmet and you can buy a rain cover for those. I have one of these.
>>
>>18249061
nahhhh brother fuck them helmets. Although they mayt have saved a coworker's life last year when I was delivering groceries in the NL. Dude slipped in the rain and smashed his head on the side of a sidewalk, I got there asap and he was still dizzy from it. I fell a few times but only bruised my arms. Good for you for wearing one, I just can't bring myself to do it
>>
>>18249067
You do you man, I used to not ride with a helmet because it was "gay" but now that I am used to it it feels very off to not be wearing one. You just know the one time you leave it at home is when a car fucks you up.
>>
>>18249072
Yes, I am lucky to mainly bike where bike lanes are a thing, it could be much worse. Also some bikers want to get killed the way they ride
>>
>>18249072
I didn't have a helmet when bicycling and I got hit by a van. Got fuckin totaled. Brain concussion and all my joints sawdusted for months. And I still don't wear a helmet lol. helmets are for the gay spandex cyclists

My right shoulder was borked for months but it healed. It was completely normal for like five years and then it got busted again completely on it's own, all of a sudden. Didn't even injure it, literaly just woke up one morning and it was like that. And now it's been like that for two years without healing.
