Do you wear car brand scents even when you drive a shitbox?
Picrel sounds good on paper but it might have to be a blind buy

Is there any reason to not commit to Montale MUKHALLAT?
>>
Anyone here tried Guerlain Oud Essentiel? I'm looking for an Oud that's quality and doesn't have balsams/amber, sandalwood, or patchouli.
>>
>>18281103
I don't think that there's a reason to commit to anything montale desu. Not sure what is it but every single frag of theirs smells like the bottle it came out of, aluminium.
I did commit to a whole bottle of full incense because I kinda liked it at first but now after a couple of months, I lowkey regret it because it just smells like a car freshener to me. And every frag of theirs that I've tried smells even worse than that.

>>
>>18281066
Yeah, different beasts like >>18281076 mentions, they never share the same concepts or designers as the real deal so why bother thinking about the stylistic homogeneity when there's none?
Mercedes Benz cylinder frags are good too great, excellent for violet leaf enjoyers, but they have poor performance. I used to have the original one and doesn't last more than 2 hours. Intense lasts 3 to 4.

>>18281145
>>18281157
>impossible to dislike
Let's see: High price for poor performance, leaky bottles, massive variance in batches which concerns directly the top, middle and base notes, sweet pineapple only is for fags, smoked birch to give texture is no more, special ambergris variant no longer used, woods are synthetic, musk is massively toned down compared to pre-2014, if we go to the entirely mental and social aspects (which should not matter) then the entire lore and brand is a con and every sucker smells like sweet woody pineapple, even in the third world.
It's very possible to dislike it in every front, you are just a nigger trying to brainwash himself, but i agree it WAS a good frag because it was made by one of the greatest perfumers but his creation's profile has been absent for a decade.

I was always a little insecure that I had BO and nobody was telling me even though I showered every day, then I got told at work I need to shower more, so now I shower a lot and use fragrance because I'm insecure about smelling bad. Unfortunately I'm also dating a girl who thinks I smell bad but also is sensitive to fragrances so I can't wear them around her and now it's also kind of a form of retail therapy to deal with my relationship frustration.

How much hair do you have and what do you eat?
>>
>>18281205
I have pretty long hair (just measure, 15 inches) and a good hairline, I would say I have medium-light body hair and I trim my armpits when they start to get long. I eat only home cooked natural food from scratch, balanced meat and veg, with very little wheat. Pretty much nothing processed except the occasional treat or pinch gas station snack if I know I'm going to have a long workday but that's not often. I work in construction so I get a lot of exercise lifting heavy things every day. It's outside so I haven't had any complaints. I also wear sauvage elixir now that the weather is cooling off.

So what exactly is going on here? Naxos smells like the interior of an Italian sports car. I work with cars and I've had clients bring in Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and (much more frequently) Maseratis and Alfa Romeos. There's something about that very specific Italian sports car leather that vaguely smells like Naxos. What the fuck is that? Is that just the odor of rich Italians? It's very nice, but it's so specific. It's got to be the leather, right?
>>
>>18281209
>People complained that I smell
>I haven't had any complaints
There's not 1 day I don't have to deal with a liar. Not 1 fucking day
>>
>>18281211
I imagine there's probably a lot of overlap in that demographic. If you got Lambo money, buying Xerjoff is about as consequential as buying Old Spice deodorant. Why not commit to the bit and just buy nothing but flashy Italian luxury shit? Wear your gaudy $2500 Versace buttondown, spray on some gaudy Xerjoff fragrance and drive around in your gaudy meme-mobile.
>>
>>18281220
I got the complaint in 2018 when I worked in a factory greenhouse. It is now 2024 and I haven't had a complaint in my current job which is mostly outdoors. I should have been more specific. I have also gotten complaints from my girlfriend.

>>
>>18281209
Damn, i meant body hair
>medium-light body hair
Shave everything all at once, do it at least one time to see the results
>I eat only home cooked natural food from scratch
You say it like it's a good thing for your body odour, little to no grain aka little fiber means no material for your intestines to encapsulate poo
>balanced meat and veg
What kind of meat you silly willy? fat-rich venison or lamb is very different to our BO than chicken breast. Fatty tissue, organs and blood-heavy parts stink the body if consumed a lot but that happens if you eat that for a week straight. What stinks people up is heavy spices a couple of days, onion and garlic for a couple of days and in my experience aged cheese and tons of concentrated dairy from one day to another. Real cheese and butter stinks me up very fast, and butter garlic pasta with aged italian cheese is guarantee shower day.
Skip for a week all spices sans salt and pepper, skip all aged dairy and to a minimum the fresh ones, eat the most pinky horrible beef you can find and the palest chicken around, pink pork, no lamb and no fish. Obviously no organs like liver or heart, let alone the head tissue, butt and balls if you are a weirdo.
>sauvage elixir now that the weather is cooling off.
I used Elixir for the hot weather (110+ degress) it's pretty great

>I work in construction
Figures, your people are jackasses who think a worker should not smell like BO. Long hair created me a wide web in the scalp and BO got there worse than usual, same with behind the ears parts.
If you keep smelling weird after a week with all those procedures then it's a blood pH issue, which isn't bad as high acidity prevents some cancer types but base gives trouble along with weird BO.

>>18281211
Italians and spaniards use real leather and usually their polishers are different chems from english and french leather. But Naxos is not a leather fragrance, must be an amberish accord or something aromatic present in their polish brands.

How would I go about adding legit oak moss to a modern Paco rabbane pour homme? Also where can I find an atomiser to replace the one on my vintage bottle?
>>
>>18281241
>But Naxos is not a leather fragrance
There's something about the cashmeran and citruses in Naxos that comes across as vaguely leathery. NTA, but there's something in there that gives it kind of a bright leather cleaner vibe, but a really expensive version of that. I've never sniffed a Lamborghini, but when you take your car in for a good detailing it always comes back with that clean car smell. I can kind of see Naxos coming across that way, granted I haven't tried it in years.
>>
>>18281298
Bet you couldn't tell real oakmoss from a synthetic accord in a blind test.
>>
>>18281316
What makes you say that? Do you think you have some exemplary sense of smell that others don't? Why don't you sit the fuck down and stfu.
>>
>>18281298
modern Paco Rabanne PH lacks way more than the real oakmoss, buddy
But if you insist buy oakmoss absolute, dilute it in a bit of fragrance in a separate bottle, concentration ratio is i don't know, read that Ellena book to know. Then inject it into the bottle and let it macerate for a month or so, stir it once every other day too.
But i insist, the modern stuff is decent but lacks way more than oakmoss, it's diluted compared to the vintage stuff.

>>18281303
>cashmeran
It has that note? then maybe it's the combination of it with the amber tobacco, your observation makes sense. An anon here hates cashmeran and can pinpoint it, perhaps he can help you identifying what you smell
>when you take your car in for a good detailing
Wouldn't know, i spend my money on frags and art supplies

Yesterday I sprayed pic related for the first time since last winter, and the smell has become earthier/bitterer, with the lavender note noticeably subdued. However, its projection has massively improved due to the maceration, the only thing bothering me a little bit being the slight alteration of the scent profile. Anyone with a similar experience with this particular frag? Or maybe my olfactory senses have changed since then?

What are the threads thoughts on MDCI?

Chypre Palatin and Invasion Barbare get a fair amount of conversation, but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen conversation regarding the rest of their line.

I was just looking at their website and if you do a full bottle of the “simple presentation” (no bust) it looks like you get ~136 mls of fragrance (75 ml bottle + 11 ml x5 samples + 2 ml x3 samples) plus a travel spray for $263 USD.

That’s under $2 a ml, plus you get a ton of variety.

(Ask because I’m sampling Chypre Palatin today, and tested Invasion Barbare yesterday)

>>
>>18282855
Which fragrances? I tried Grey Vetiver last night and it seemed to stay pretty much the same, but so far all the Zoologists I’ve tried have had very pronounced developments.
>>
>>18282903
Almost everything I've used. Hacivat, Sartorial, a bunch of PDM fragrances, a bunch of Amouage fragrances, and a whole lotta other samples. The only real difference I've noticed have been when a prominent note has faded. I tried Tobacco Vanille once and the tobacco was gone after an hour or so, leaving me with mostly a sweet vanilla scent. But most of the time, it seems like I get mostly the top notes and that I can smell them all the way through, but not notice base notes much or at all.
>>
>>18282839
I want to smell her clean looking shirt
>ugly nose
>ugly ears
>ugly fingers
>>
>>18282855
Some do.
The terms top notes, middle notes and base notes apply to everything.

If you're fragrance doesn't have any light notes (therefore no top notes), it will smell like mid and base all the time.
If you're frag has a ton of light notes, they will last so much that they'll have to evaporate a lot, meaning they'll last a long time.

So yeah, it's very possible.

What are some actually exceptional fresh/summer fragrances?
Everything I like is dark and heavy, with oud, leather, incense, sweet notes, spices, sandalwood, whatever. I have yet to find a fresh frag that actually makes me go wow. They all seem so generic compared to the heavier, more cold weather appropriate scents. Kenzo Homme EDP is alright but too linear and not very complex. GIT is alright but gets boring after a while.
I've heard good things about some of the LV lineup, should I bother?
>>18283343
What does it smell like? I used to own BI but it ended up reminding me of coca cola and blue cheese for some reason so I got rid of it.
>>
>>18283386
Have you tried Dior Homme Sport? It’s a citrus fragrance that has some resinous backbone and pepperiness to make it more interesting than most freshies.

LV’s releases are solid, but frankly not worth the pricing.

This is a mix of the individual fragrance and the capabilities of the nose smelling it.

There are some fragrances where it really is just a linear scent from beginning to end, and it’s interesting because some people will say this makes it boring, other will say it is just ‘well blended’.

But conversely, I can say I truly do -not- have a very astute nose, and so the transition between many notes is lost on me.

I'm not a fan of TDH at all. If we're talking Hermès I much prefer Voyage or Eau d'Orange Verte/Pamplemousse or whatever. Even Citron Noir. They're all too light and perform poorly, though. H24 is okay but has an unpleasant drydown.
Have you tried Bal d'Afrique and Oud Minérale? I've heard good things about both (very different scent profiles, I know) but I haven't had the opportunity to sample them yet. I'd like to try Acqua di Sale too

I also really like Bobemian Lime as a slightly citrus adjacent scent, Ghost in the Shell as a light clean scent without being citrusy (imo), I also fell hard for Day Three’s Del Mar.

If you want something really different try Penguin by Zoologist, it’s an oddly enjoyable summer scent.

I believe in conditioning, bros
Give me some working-class, daily driver cologne that's just cheap enough not to be shit, something midrange
Basically, something that tells a woman I'm ready and available, and doesn't have an intense smell, something subtle, but good
You know, something that reminds a woman of sex as soon as it hits her nostrils
I'm not a party animal at all, but I'm forced to hit clubs because of my friends, and it's not bad
But I usually like quiet evenings in libraries and coffee shops and walks
I'm a quiet guy, a bit shy
I sometimes go for hyper-casual clothes, just sports pants and hoodies
but I always have my aviator jacket on
Looking for something that most, or maybe "second most" men wear
maybe a "cheeky cheap" cologne, if there's something like that

basically, semi-private places, but you know, for common people, not some crazy expensive places, in fact, they're free to attend, it's about knowing the right people
so maybe something more "pretentious" too, you know, that says "I'm not like other guys, at least I'm trying not to be"

Try to naturally bring up the topic of perfumes and ask her what kind she likes and then get one with the notes she likes or just fuck her I don't fucking know.

This. Ask her what you could do on your part to make her experience of being your employer less cumbersome.

Anyone has a recommendation for a nostalgia scent that is not too overpowering for daily wear? I've always liked the sugar smell since it reminds me of the younger days

How does drakkar noir compare to green Irish tweed? What's a good fresh green scent anyway?

yes

Obsession
>>18285782
I think Cool Water is closer to green irish tweed than DN. DN is a good green fresh though especially for the price. If you want to spend a bit more I really liked TF Grey Vetiver, its not a typical herby green and is a lot more grassy. To me it smelled almost like someone pulled up a clump of dewy grass with some soil still on the roots.

It's not. It's 0 projection without heat.

Is this overrated?

Heard the reformulation isn't as great and it might be a good time to pick it up. Is it similar to 1 Million? I can't stand the blast of sweetness and what comes across as a chemical mess but I'm assuming SWY is more balanced.
>>
>>18285674
Powdery, sweet sandalwood + iris + vanilla scent. Very nice, less deep, dark and masculine than DHP but still good.

God bless, you're a saint. The only other one I've tried from Memo was African Leather and quite enjoyed it.

How is Initio?
>>
too sweet, reminds me of cheap candles you find in home good stores
>>
>>18285934
No… I support neither side, miss with that dichotomy shit
>>
Has anyone tried BI extrait yet?
>>
>>18285953
fine, entry level niche but overpriced imo
>>
>>18285953
Simple high quality basic niche. Usually very linear. Initio is the sister firm to Parfum De Marly. Side Effect is quite nice, and I personally enjoy Rehab enough to get a full bottle. That said none of these are particularly inventive or revolutionary. But like PdM they go for great ingredients with a lot of push and staying power.
>>
>>18285992
Does Initio have the same "fake" history that Parfum De Marly has? I can't find much about their origin story
>>
>>18285962
well you say that but then you say you wanna use that >>18285900

See? Your already getting all defensive. Just buy non arabic frag before it's too late

I'm not that anon and I only buy frags from France. I just think seeing Israeli Defense Force posting online is funny

I don't think that's funny, there's people in legitimate discomfort down there right now.

Penguin
>I can see how they sell the opening as "antarctic air" and "ice accord"
>smells like the inside of a freezer with a bit of juniper
>smells artificial, not in the sense that cheap frags obviously smell of chemicals, but this literally smells like an AC unit or something, like a mix of coolant and machinery
>not picking up many of the listed notes other than the vague juniper hiding in there
>after a few minutes the mechanical scent fades and the "antarctic air" feels more realistic, like a very fresh snowy winter day when its sunny but very, very cold
>the musk and suede have a very airy aromatic and slightly animalic feeling
>still does not feel like a natural scent, the attempt to capture these esoteric concepts like ice accord just leave a very artificial impression
>seamoss starting to appear and gives a wet cold beach that you dont want to hang out very long at kind of feeling
>very unimpressed. Not wearable, no occasion would call for this scent, and is just not enjoyable or pleasant at all
>it's not badly made, the scent is still very smooth and not harsh at all, it just is kind of useless

Beaver
>Very nice woody floral opening, definitely a huge dose of iso e super
>smells like freshly cut lumber and flowers
>not really picking up the "Fresh air" or "wild vegetation"
>Amber and musk starts to appear in the intitial drydown
>Castoreum really starts to make itself known after the iso e dissipates
>very delicious woody and funky animalic smell
>has a hint of leatheriness and a tinge of smoke almost like black powder
>still a bit too heavy on the iso-e for my tastes, but definitely more enjoyable the more it dissipates
>Feels like being in a hunters cabin in the middle of autumn
>Cool concept overall but I could never really see myself wearing this other than to just revisit it for my own experience. Maybe for like a walk in the woods or something?

Well, I was pretty excited for those two and while Penguin was definitely a dud, Beaver was definitely more up my alley. I learned I'm not a huge iso-e enjoyer but the heavier woods and castoreum was very very nice. Will be on the hunt for other frags with a more wearable composition as something to wear in the fall.

dior homme 2020
>>
>>18286000
sure does. But neither really have much of a history. PdM was started in 2008. Initio in 2015. PdM owns Initio, and I think a corp owns both because the owner of PdM sold the whole thing to some generic sounding megacorp like Adventure. I think the guy wanted to make easy money by selling smellywater, and hit it big. Now he's taking his money and remaining CEO so that he can just schmooze and retire. It's genius. Anyway the only PdM worth the money is Herod (better than Divine Vanille imo) and the rest are up to personal preference.

My walmart has 50 mL for 66 bucks. I'm sure I'll pull the trigger soon enough...

if you mean online, don't do it bro. Too many fakers on there.

nigga why would I call online "my" I saw the bottle there in person in the locked cabinet
>>
>>18286152
Idk. Why would you?
>>
>>18286140
I wouldn't buy off Walmart online. Those are a bunch of private sellers. Either look up how the older style top looks and try to find a vintage bottle for a good deal or just buy a new bottle off jomashop. I do dislike the jews at jomashop but they have it in stock at the best deal.
>>
>>18286142
>>18286277
Nevermind. That's a better deal than jewmashop anyways.

>>18286140
There is nothing like it. I still have a bottle from the 90s (I'm old). A buddy in the army introduced me to it.
