REMINDER: A TRUE made in SWITZERLAND watch does NOT, I repeat, does NOT say "swiss made" on the dial.

>>
>>18281753
>>18281761
We've seen your watch at least 1000 times but, I took the time to think about it in a more objective manner and my conclusion is that; people don't actually realise what they're seeing here.
It is an anomaly in the watch world. I won't say that it is the best value for money that you can get, because sadly this term has also been dragged through the ground and it has lost its meaning, and yet if you think about it, the fact that you can get this watch below 2000$ does not make sense.
First of all, you get the, possibly, most accurate autonomous watch on the planet, no GPS gimmicks, no radio controll no internet whatever, it's just you, in the woods, knowing the atomic time without big tech and or the government being able to track you. On top of that, you literally have a feature that is usually reserved for much, Much more expensive watches- the perpetual calendar.
Technicalities and specs aside, what do you get on the finishing part? It is as good as a grand seiko in terms of Hands and Marker finishing- Spotless, Sharp and no impurities or rough edges to be found. But what does GS-Level mean? Well it literally means that your Markers and Hands do have, on a macro level, better finished hands than 5 Digit Swiss Watches. It doesn't matter if this fact makes you angry or triggered or in doubt, but it is a Fact. The dial itself, the way they did the perception of depth, shouldn't work but it does and youc an even see the sunburst effect too.
Okay so what about exclusivity? Well what defines exclusivity?
>Low production
Check
>Locked behind the country of origin
Check
>Rare limited edition on top of said rarity to begin with
Check
So what about the case?Well it is not zaratsu but it still shouldn't be as good as it is. It is almost distortion free.
But is it all perfect? I don't think so, no. It is too thick, the movement is ugly and the bracelet is below the standards that the dial and tech have set. But again,it's 2000$
>>
>>18281770
Casio, Grand Seiko, Seiko, Citizen, Orient.
>>
>>18281770
F.P. Journe. That is all.
>>
>>18281771
Cont.

Compare it to the competition, at 2000$ what do you get from the swatch brands? ETA? Yeah... I mean cool. So what is the catch? The name, Citizen. It IS the fashion world after all and branding is, for better or for worse, the most important factor in the eyes of the everyday people.
Is it perfect for what it is? I think so, yes. There is room for improvement though, but said improvement would mean that it isn't the same watch, so I would not touch it. It being thick btw also means that it is more durable, so it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially considering that there needs to be room for the thermocompensation for the accuracy.
>>
>>18281775
>>18281771
Is all of this actually true? Shitposting aside.
>>
>>18281776
Most of it is. The case is zaratsu polished and the bracelet is great.

Just checked, That's two hours by car from here. Why you asking?
>>
>>18281762
You go to a watchmaking school where at the end of the first 6 months they give you a 1x1" brass cube and tell you you've got 8hrs to hew, by hand, 8 perfect and identical miniature gears from to pass the exam.
That course is longer. If you just want to become a service-monkey then the course is shorter but it's basically teaching you how to do the most finicky lego imaginable.
>CNC
Unnecessary for now, but the skills would be useful if applying for an actual watchmaking school. If you're simply thinking of recasing movements in your own cases and selling them like that then just don't bother. The chinks have a gorillion cnc machines and can do that shit cheaper, faster and with more precision that's why every microbrand uses them.

The better, purer, watchmaking schools will actually emphasize watchMAKING (cube to gear by hand etc), a relative rarity now because all the biggest schools have tailored their courses to cater to the mass conglomerates who only need glorified service-monkies.

You might think this to be hyperbole but I assure you it is not. There is not a single watch brand that is as overtly politically activist than this one thanks to its ceo.

Im a machinist and I never have made watch parts but I would say get good at nlx or mastercam so you can design and run your own parts. I think all watch parts can be done on 3 axis milling so I would just get that small haas that goes on a workbench, vf2 I think. With that you’ll be able to do case, dial, and bracelets. I think a haas could do some movement parts but you would get a lot of scrap too. Buying off the shelf movements and modifying those seems to be the way to go at the start

looking to buy my first watch ever. I know nothing about watches but I like the way this one look. Thoughts? …
>>
>>18282297
Their spam got me interested in looking at moser.
Apparently one thing about them that's unique is that there is no play in the crown whatsoever. I mean that if you move the crown slightly that motion is translated directly and instantly to the hands moving on the dial; there's none of that "slack" or whatever in turning before something actually happens with the hands that you get with virtually every other movement anywhere ever. It's tight.
Only interesting anecdote about them however.

I like it a lot.
A faithful recreation of the original. As far as I can tell, the only major flaw is the small crown. And ETA movement copy they use has only 36 hours of power reserve.

>>18282871
The 36mm version doesn't use an ETA, it has a clone made by a "revived" Landeron company.
There is no info on it anywhere, their website is AI generated down to the images (I'm not joking, it says so in its own "partners" section) and I'd be willing to bet the reason the 36mm models are all limited is because they can't reliably source these movements.
>>
>>18282183
No.
This version and the spider dials are fine. They're reissues of historical models and don't really have an equivalent today either.
The black dial + mercedes hands ones are pure Explorer cope though.

Yeah, I did write it's an ETA copy.
A copy of 2801 / 2804 without a rotor. 36 hours vs original 40-50 for some reason.

They can always source Sellita or Soprod, but reasons, i'm sure, are economic.
You can't buy a new one now, because they work as most of the microbrands: ordering some batches from the factory to sell, but not keeping constant production. Maybe they'll make more watches later.

They already use automatic Soprods for other watches, this particular manual only movement isn't really made by Selitta or the usual suspects, which seems to be why they'd go with such a weird option as a shady namesake company with no other track record whatsoever.
>You can't buy a new one now, because they work as most of the microbrands: ordering some batches from the factory to sell, but not keeping constant production.
That would normally be a good enough explanation but the automatic ones are in a permanent collection and have not run out of stock at any point, which does mean it's either trying to farm FOMO or the main point of difference, the movement, is not as reliably available.
>>
>>18282940
Cool little watch. I like it.
>>
>>18282944
SW215-1 is a copy of the same movement, and you can buy Super Antarctic 35mm with Landeron 21 right now.

I won't argue about the fact modern Patek is shit.
Modern Vacheron is slightly better but only because they make reissues of their vintage watches (the Historiques collection).
The thing is, Patek is 100 times more historically relevant than Vacheron. This triple calendar you just posted is a cope version of 70 years old Patek.

The bottom of the JLC is arguably more filled than on the VC.

Yeah, it's a quirky one.
The chronos are painted even outside their circles, one of them has a hand of a different color (two blue and one silver), that date inside of the hours index, and then the cute bear. I like it, it's unique.
