I'm an Asian fashion noob and I've been trying to find Asian style inspo. I notice that a lot of fashion for Asians emphasize baggy or oversized styles. Is this just because these styles look better on smaller men and Asians are smaller, or do these just look good in general. I'm on the bigger side (6'4, 215 lbs) and I want to make sure I won't look retarded before I drop hundreds of dollars on new clothes.

Pic related for what I'm talking about
>>

Take inspo from the 2000s and 90s
Lots of big guys wore loose clothes back then
>>
>>18293535
I’m a similar build and say don’t do it. They make you look fat. Even slim fit is loose at the waist for me so I don’t know how you’ll do. I need big at chest and shoulders and small at waist
>>
White guy larping as asian here, 6'0 and 66kg atm, otter mode, athletic build, broad shoulders, slim waist (I use 27"-28" pants). I used to be almost 80kg (powerlifting) and people told me on this board I looked like a buff dude dressing as a skinny boy. With my current build it looks better I guess cause it's easier to get oversized clothes. Most of what you see in pics doe won't look like that on you, asians are much smaller than whites and even if you pick the exact same clothes you see in pics they will fit differently. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to hide my build under baggy clothes, tighter fits would reveal muscles much more but I really enjoy drapes so I stick with it.
>>
>>18293535
Cringe emulation of white people. I wonder why if jeets and mulattos do that it’s bad, while if asians do that it’s cool.

the youths in general are favoring looser fits as a reaction to millennial skintight high water liners.
there's also a bit of lingering 80s revivalism

i don't think it's specific to asians, no.
>>
>>18293686
I have an opposite problem. My pants are either too fat at the waist or to skinny in the legs/butt. regular fit jeans look slimfit or even skinny on me according to my friends.
>>
>>18293760
ESL? That’s the same problem I have. I need at least relaxed fit for them not to be skin tight
>>
>>18293804
I meant slim fit tops ie those with a small waist for a given chest measurement
>>
>>18293804
No just retarded
>>
>>18293535
Loose clothes are for loosers.
>>
>>18293934
I get the sentiment, but that guy could not look gayer if he was actively sucking cock
>>
>>18293535
Yes
>>
where the fuck are all these asians getting these street clothes? Is it really just shein and ali express?

i am skinny twink asian - as with a lot of fashion it only works because we're skinny

baggy fits look fine on bigger guys as long as it's casual/dress down - always good to look effortless. i think when you get to oversized fits and fancy tailoring, they lose their appeal and make bigger people look frumpy/hiding fat.

when you're skinny you can also play around with masking your proportions (length of your torso/limbs etc) that you just can't do on stockier builds. sucks to say but sometimes its good to recognize what you can't pull off and just be happy with what you can
>>
>>18294306
That's kind of the problem, I really don't know what I can or can't pull off. I wouldn't say I'm fat or stocky, but I'm taller and definitely not as skinny. I'm not really lean, but I'm not just skinnyfat either. I'd say I have a more athletic build than average.
>>
>>18294315
honestly dressing your self is a skill that takes experimentation and exercise; same as anything else creative.

if you'd like a conservative approach, (if you haven't already) try building a solid, inoffensive wardrobe and start experimenting with pieces you find interesting, like layering a big shirt or jacket, or having a baggy sweater, or a pair of relax-fit pants etc. keep them if they work with at least 3 outfit ideas within what you currently own, and reject anything less.

eventually you'll figure out what works, what you like, you'll make smart purchases on less things that might last longer. i guarantee in a year or two you'll at least have a starting point that will be unique to you

I wear loose clothes because I'm bordering on anorexic so I need to look bigger than I am
>>
Going to Japan in a couple of months. Where do I find casual clothes in Tokyo and Kyoto that aren't major stores. Any hidden gem shops or brands I should look out for?
>>
>>18294334
from my experience, set a full day side to wander aimlessly. there are so many small shops everywhere with brands you'll never find out about that it's better to just shut your brain off, try stuff on, and see what looks good.

for tokyo, shimokitazawa and koenji are probably worth looking up whats around. shibuya cat street/omotesando is always worth a visit too. can't speak for kyoto but remember osaka is also an hour away and there's probably a hip street of secondhand/vintage stores somewhere
>>
>>18293535
I guess I should feel bad about it, but I don't even see Asian men as real men. They're somewhere between women and boys.
>>
>>18293535
Asian men are real men. As a white husband, I love seeing asian men fuck my hot white wife.
>>
>>18293535
Japs are all skinny/anorexic so they hide it with loose clothing. This allows them to play with silhouette more since they aren't limited by their body. If you're bigger, you're more limited on what you can do, but you can emphasize your good qualities since you actually have something show. Fashion is all about showing what you want and hiding what you don't.
>>

What are the sizes like in Japan? If I'm an XL in America, am I going to be a 3XL in Japan?
>>
>>18294294
tokyo has a number of fashionable shopping districts.
>>
>>18293535
People are gonna think youre a junkie
Dress like a grown up
>>
>>18294761
i'm not even sure if anything larger than XL is common in japan, the median is S/M sizes
>>
>>18294991
So an m in America would be an l or xl in Japan?
>>
>>18293744
>6'0 and 66kg atm, otter mode
more like skelly mode
>almost 80kg (powerlifting)
kek, at 6' 80kg with some muscle you look like a normal dude
>reveal muscles much more
reveal what, your 10" biceps? you have no muscles to reveal at 66kg, and barely any at 80kg. Tight clothes would out you as a DYEL
>>
Is techwear actually good or just some overpriced, overengineered shit? I see a lot of techwear inspirations in asian streetwear and it looks hella sick, but some of the brands I've seen go up to the thousands
>>
>>18296303
There is nothing "overengineered" in "techwear". Muh techwear is a marketing buzzword. It doesn't actually mean some high-tech fabric that's worth the 100's and even 1000's of dollars they demand for it. It's fucking plastic, like your cheap gym pants.

Asian males are already very feminine, try hyper masculinity

don't loose clothes just make you look even skinnier?
>>
>>18294353
bizarre post lol
>>
>>
>>18301621

"asian guys" = koreans
>>
>>18301829
Yes, unironically. Girls are into Koreans right now, so if you're East Asian, why wouldn't you want to emulate their style?
>>
>>18301621
im no racist but these guys really do look the same.
>>
>>18301621
Top might be true in east Asia, but in the US the bottom is considered hotter. There are 5 different types of dudes in these pics and they are all probably happier people.
>>
>>18303529
I think it's different demographics. Certain parts of bottom, like tattoos, are probably hot to most women, but top probably casts the widest net.
>>
>>18293535
Euphoria by BTS might be one of the best k-pop songs of all time if not one of the best pop songs of all time. And I listen to a lot of music.

kpop is a scourge
>>
>>18293535
Lose weight first, fashion is more about emphasizing what you have and if you're fat, you don't have much to show off
But yes, generally, bigger people look better in baggier fits, not skinnier ones
>>
>>18305787
I'm not fat, just bigger. If anything, I'm closer to skinnyfat
>>
>>18301621
top fashion and hair with some muscles would be best, the fob hair asians do is fucking awful and ruins them
>>
>>18305784
subjective. if you're east asian, you wouldn't be saying that.
>>
>>18304851
kpop is awesome
>>
>>18306549
What's the fob hair?
>>
>>18293535
>Do looser clothes look good on bigger guys?
"big" as in "fat", or as in "muscular"?
Because on muscular people, oversized clothes just make them look fat. On fat people, well cut oversize can look good if it's close around the shoulders and tights and wide around the belly and calves.
>>
>>18307929
Tall. I'm slightly more athletic than average, but if anything, I'm skinnyfat
>>
>>18306454
Use specific words tard. Fat bigger and muscular bigger are two different things
If you're skinnyfat, you're fat bigger
>>
>>18308606
I'm 6'4" 210lb

Trying to find clothes in Asia is a nightmare. Literally everything is two sizes down. An L gets turned into an XXL
>>
>>18311301
yeah. they have a different sizing system.

as always, get real measurements and compare with sizing charts.
>>
>>18311301
Yeah well in Europe it's the same but reverse, as a manlet, getting size S and swimming in it is equally frustrating. Let alone American brands that makes clothing for fatties so everything is twice as wide.
>>
>>18311449
I have Asian proportions but American sizes, meaning that everything I get in America is twice as fat as I am, but everything in Asian is too small
>>
>>18307088
i'm chinese.
