As a man, how can I dress "classy" or "modestly" (I don't know how to call it) without dress pants, tucked in dress shirts, or ties? Those makes one stand out where I live. I'd appreciate images or style names.

Chinos. Not the work wear kinds though. And if you don't wanna tuck in your shirt then go with shirts that can be worn untucked, or sweaters, or polos or turtlenecks. Whatever, depends on the season.

Black jeans + knitwear, leather boots, Uniqlo basics

Why do low tier men overuse and misuse "quotation marks" like "this"?
Are they really this afraid to just type things out?
They literally can't type: I want to dress classy
No, they need to type: I want to dress "classy"
Lmao

What is the difference between chinos and a pair of Dockers?

I love dorky looking Asian chicks, can we make this thread about them instead?

I sometimes wonder if posts like these are astroturfed to justify the BBC posting...

If you mean something like pic related? Those are chinos. Dockers makes chinos.

>>18301758
It's the same race obsessed people posting both
>>
>>18301762
So just non-pleated, non-denim pants basically?
>>
>>18301781
Well chinos are lighter than jeans but are also usually entirely made of cotton and there are indeed chinos with pleats, but they're obviously still not super soft wool suit trousers just because they're pleated. I think generally speaking if you look at different pants those are the 3 general categories you see. Dress pants, jeans, and chinos.

In America they only got jeans, dress pants and chinos
>>
>>18303073
In all of the western world, the most common types of pants are those 3. It is what it is.

>>18303073
Nah. Sweatpants and other athletic wear, various types of shorts, various types of cargo pants are all pretty common

Just wear regular fit dress pants or chinos (avoid slim fits), and a button up shirt tucked in. That's all you need. No tie, no suit. Get pleated pants if you want to level up from basic chinos and dress pants. And don't wear any overly loud patterns. Subtle pinstripes and checkers is as far as you should go.

I don't think you can, Anon, without some very particular traditional dresses of certain cultures - even then, it wouldn't be classy in our sense of the word

I've got a feeling you think any long sleeve shirt with buttons is a dress shirt;they aren't.

You don't have to rock a suit every day to look classy, just wear well made basics.
Instead of dress shirts, look for oxford collar button downs (OCBDs). They used to be actual work shirts, now they're slightly more formal but no where near as much as a poplin or broadcloth spread collar shirt. OCBDs have a denser fabric that has a bit of texture to it, when it comes to formality the more texture something has the less formal it is (generally speaking). OCBDs are normally cut looser as well, which helps them not look as dressy. But if you ever do need to wear a tie and sport coat, they work just as well with one as without.
Get some pleated chinos that are straight cut, make sure they're the proper length. You don't want them pooling or bunching on your shoes, you don't want them to be high water either. The pleats help them flow and not be snug against your body, this helps them hang straight down and drape properly which makes your legs look good.
Don't buy low rise, the top of the waist band should be around your bellybutton, a little above or below is fine. This makes your legs look longer, helps your shirt stay tucked, keeps your ass covered if you bend over and is generally more comfortable.
If you don't want chinos, try some trousers with texture like corduroy, tweed, moleskin, etc.
For shoes avoid tennis shoes, but you don't need to get formal oxfords either. Loafers are incredibly versatile, and if you're not wearing a tie boots work well too. Think heritage style boots, or chelsea boots.

An blue OCBD, rich tan cords, and a pair of dark brown loafers or Chelsea boots will look great on anyone and not be formal at all.

That's considered very formal for 2024

>That's considered very formal for 2024

It literally isn't, you've just been brainwashed by constant exposure to social media. Go out in the real world wearing that and you'll be considered well dressed but not overtly formal.

Uniqlo everything

Maybe true a year ago, but at the end of 2024, it's too formal. 2025 you're a massive autist for wearing that. No joke.

Please post a pic of yourself so I can see what a proper fit looks like.

Maybe if you are 16 years old. I dressed like this when I was 16 and thought I was being too formal but as I entered my adult life I encountered more people dressed the way I was and now I realise that what >>18307212 is describing is a casual fit for time off or on a hot day. Put a jumper on over it and it’s slightly more smart casual/verging the sort of thing that can be worn appropriately at uni/office. Need a tie for it to be properly “formal.” I saw an estate agent with a fit like this today. I’ve also started seeing people wear chore coats in more formal/work situations but it’s always black/dark coloured ones -but never brown, sort of like a communist official- that are lined on the inside, so it’s more of a modest/roomier jacket than it is a proper chore coat.

This is in Newcastle btw where the fashion is notoriously shit/informal in the eyes of the rest of the country.

The fact of the matter is that most street wear/athleisure (joggers, hoodies, etc.) is worn by manchildren or people work a manual job and need pretty much disposable clothing. However the media caters to manchildren because they are some of the biggest consumers. Most normal people will wear a fit more formal than just trousers or chinos and a shirt. A combo I see a lot for people who aren’t in full suits is shirt+jumper+puffer vest/down jacket/Barbour jacket. The jacket will ALWAYS be plain and not have large logos.

When I say man children I mean the sort of people you encounter on public transport who attend an “alternative” sixth form college and all they talk about is CoD war zone, what benefits to apply for and how they’ve arsed around at college. I’m not talking about Reddit consoomer types specifically but they also apply somewhat.

Why are you lying bro. Nobody is dressing like a boomer to the office except other boomers. It's not about muh manual labor muh white collar. It's dressing your age and dressing like a manchild is appropiate because 99% of non-boomer go thru something called >Extended Adolescence

too baggy
my boot-cut jeans make my ass look enormous in a flattering way
however, I've been wanting into non-blue jeans so I'll give this a shot

holy fuck this photo makes me so glad to be a neet. imagine having to sit in an office all day, constantly feeling like you have to look like youre doing work otherwise your coworkers will tell on you. utter hell

This is (ostensibly) the inside of the national audit office on the end of Northumberland street. The people in the picture are essentially civil servants and in the civil service you can dress how you like as long as it’s not “offensive” (of the civil servants I know, two of them always dressed smartly and one only wore athleisure when gardening). The civil service likes to present itself as inclusive for “muh equality of opportunity” so it’s little wonder the people in the pic are dressed down. The pic is a staged PR piece.

However around mid day on Percy street I’ve seen a lot of people in suits near the bus station. Probably drinking on their lunch break as the ratio of pubs to everything else on that street is approaching 1:1 (not that this is a bad thing).
