>"the perfect jacket doesn't exi-"Not so fast
>>18308311>the perfect jacketHere we go
>>18308311sometimes tho they're made of asbestos
>>18308313wat?
>>18308311Not anymore. The older cuts of the g9 and other blouson jackets were in fact close to perfect. Their modern alternatives are way too long and completely ruin your natural proportions
>>18308330i have a really long torso so i don't care
>>18308331You're still better off wearing high waisted pants than a long ass jacket. Jackets should either end near your natural waist or below your ass like a suit jacket. Anything in between that just scrapes past your dick root is ugly
>>18308333k
>>18308312y he wearing an ikea bag
>>18308424fashion or something I don't know
Are they worth the price?
>>18308311best jacket...OP you done goofed
>>18308321it’s a joke about McQueen dying from asbestos-induced disease, i think
>>18308330This one doesn’t look that long
>>18308311>58% polyester 42% cotton>400 euros
>>18308311No.
>>18310549>>18308330god that open bottom zip looks like shit, what a fucking goober.
>>18310548>asbestos
>>18311258He died from mesothelioma due to all the asbestos that used to be in ships back when he was a Marine. Not to mention sound stages used to be insulated with asbestos back in the day too He's a classic victim of "if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma..."
>>18309137>>18310869Boomer here, Barracudas were sold at Sears back in the day, they were inexpensive and not particularly stylish.
>>18311262Well yeah, it obviously had nothing to do with the 60 custom made 400mm filterless cigarettes he smoked every day.
>>18308333absolutely correct. especially if he's white asian etc. >>18308365only time you should be wearing long torso short rise pants is if you're usain bolt or osama bin laden type body proportions. but to be fair the taller you are the more leeway you have to fuck that up.>>18310869poly/nylon/etc can be good in jackets.poly's only bad when its included because its cheap. sometimes its used for its material properties like with these jackets the drying times. polyester wasn't cheap when that jacket switched over from a cotton shell to a blend. it was done because its an improvement.kids who grew up after NAFTA and Zara are rightfully skeptical of anything with polyester in it because its the #1 tool in the race to the bottom cheapening clothes.but its also just objectively one of the most impressive and versatile fibers that exists. if you know chemistry its actually impressive stuff. a lot of its downsides like feeling disgusting to the touch can be avoided by blending it with cotton. also fabric content tags mean almost nothing. two things with 100% polyester on the tag can be quite different. you know that's the case with wool products i'm sure. same applies. the details that don't show up on the tag matter a lot more than "100% nondescript wool" example look up what coolmax is. not all polyester fibers are even the same shape because they can be engineered into many different ones. its the most versatile fiber in the world. there's cheap bullshit polyester and there's textile more expensive than selvedge hand loomed japanese denim made out of nylon and polyester and uhmwpe and other synthetics.the fabric content label is useful when determining a good vs bad garment but its no replacement for actually knowing textile and garment design. hard to learn about though very gatekept. >makes you gayyeah it might i'm not going to act surprised if the science changes on that in my life.>pollutes the planetyeah use responsibly don't be a consoomer.
>>18311265KEK i believe it but to be fair most casual garments that menswear guys berg about and get erections from these days came from sears catalogues and were originally like $2-6 not adjusted for inflation, or military surplus that used to get dumped onto homeless people and beatniks by the boatload.
yeah lets just crop out the price part when we show you the pic of the shirt we reproduced from a montgomery ward catalogue real quick there...
>>18308311I don't like the pockets, they look like envelopes
>>18309137They're nice jackets but not 400€ nice imho. It's one of those things that "you get what you pay for" do not 100% apply. You can get almost as good harringtons from other brands from way, way less.
>>18311273>custom made 400mm filterless cigarettesThat's dope. Gonna look up who can do this for me today.
>>18310548racing jackets were made with asbestos as well. it was the golden age of asbestos
>gets you laid
Guys, learn from me and dont buy a khaki harrington. I wear khaki pants so half the time i cant even wear this thing.
>>18312162I have one in burgundy. I thought I was been lowkey aping James Dean until someone said Fry from Futurama.
>>18312172kek
>>18311464>almost as good harringtons from other brands from way, way lessNTA but can you suggest some. I'm nearly pulling the trigger on this.
>>18312597NTA, but Ben Sherman:https://www.bensherman.co.uk/clothing/coats-and-jackets/signature-harrington-4543Pros:- raglan sleeves, like on the Barracuta (other repros usually skip this detail)- umbrella back yoke (it’s different from the Barracuta, but it looks better imo, and, again, other repros usually skip this detail)- 100% cotton- cheaper by farCons:- signature logo on front left (I don’t mind this, Ben Sherman is a pretty cool brand, but if you do, try to thrift an older version, those only had a small Levi’s-like label on the pocket)- the lining is not tartan but Ben Sherman’s own check pattern- no two-way zip- probably not water repellent
>>18312597There was a thread a few days ago and apparently ventile is a scam and/or snake oil.
>>18311629They sell long rolling papers and loose tobacco literally everywhere
>>18313067>>18312597the only natural rain proofing that works is waxed cotton and very dense coarser wools. they both have a lot of issues themselves but most of them aren't all that applicable to someone in a temperate climate who's just wearing it as casual fashion. but neither one can even come close to modern synthetic rain jackets. when people ask "what do you think people did before synthetics?" its always funny because i think they think that's a big gotcha but the reality is people just didn't hike recreationally and died of exposure a lot more often and avoided going to dangerous places for no good reason.
silpoly is the best balance between not making you gay (all the polyester is literally encapsulated in inert silicone) and not being nearly as bad for the environment as other synthetic rain jacket materials.and not being miserable (or dying if you go /out/) if you live somewhere with real weather.
>>18312900>https://www.bensherman.co.uk/clothing/coats-and-jackets/signature-harrington-4543Can you suggest one that does have elasticated sleeves and hem? I like ones with button adjustments as I often wear a jumper under it.
>>18312597I had one from Ben Sherman that was really good. Made in China but who cares? It for a stain on it somehow and got ruined and I unfortunately had to get rid of it
>>18312597Yeah, as >>18312900 said, Ben Sherman is top of the foid chain when it cones to cheap harrington jackets. Almost all menswear brands will have a harrington in their catalog, but if you want one with brit/mod flavour check merc, warrior, madclap england and other mod/skin/brit brands. But honestly I'd get a Ben Sherman.Side note: if you're not adverse to get second hand, you can check eBay for a made in Romania Barracuta, indistibguishable from a made in Englang but retails for less, goes on sale occasionaly and has less resale value. You can get one in decent condition for 80-100, or wait for a sale and get a MiR brand new for 225-275.

Are these good sport jackets for the winter?
>>18313936No. They're very thin. They're definitely more spring/fall jackets
>>18314015thanks fren
>>18313936There's enough room to wear a sweater underneath them. Depending on how cold winters are where you are you could wear them in winter.
>>18308311I like this but it's impossible to get. I will never understand why some brands drop something once and move on. Am I supposed to make it myself now if I want one?
>>18314436Most vintage repro brands have a few dozen of very high demand items in the regular production, and they sometimes do small batches of other items that may be interesting for a few hundred/thousand people. I guess this one had limited demand.
>>18308312yeah another shitbag diversity hire so sick of looking at this shitit looks fucking homeless and it isn't fashion
>>18311292poly's been around so long, in the 70s it was clowned on for leisure suits, cheap shirts, etc which were basically the era's zara crap
>>18308330Processed foods really did ruin fashion. You can't have short jackets anymore because pants can't be high rose anymore, because of our guts.
>>18311273Cigarettes don't really kill you. He didn't die from cancer.
>>18313936They make a corduroy one. I havent worn it in the winter yet but its noticeably warmer than the regular cotton blend.
>>18311292Nah, if you have long limbs dont wear high waisted pants
>>18316058He died from mesothelioma
