was the hipster the last subculture to be a thing?or am i just old and out of touch? do zoomers have culture? or are they just bland retards with broccoli hair who listen to the same trap music?
>i dont like it therefore its actually not even cultureThis is like saying rap isnt music because it pisses you off. You can just say it's bad music, theres no ontological standard that music must be good.
>>18350372rap isnt music, they dont play instruments or sing, so its not music
>>18350356the only way u can have a subculture is if it's "uncool" to some people. nobody wants to be "uncool" that's why nobody called themselves a "hipster" and now no one dares risk being the next "hipster" subculture.
>or am i just old and out of touch? Yes you are>do zoomers have culture? Yes a more varied and rich culture than millennials ever had> or are they just bland retards with broccoli hair who listen to the same trap musicNobody has broccoli hair anymore, you are too out of touch and retarded to discuss anything
>>18350425>Nobody has broccoli hair anymoreI went to the mall on friday, they were everywhere
.
>>18350356hipsters were indeed the last subculture.the hipster subculture was pretty much single handedly conceived and popularized by gavin mcinnes back when he was running vice and vice was actually popular. >>18350372fashion isn't downstream from subcultures anymore. the goths on tiktok can't name a single band other than deftones.>>18350425i can't think of anything more conformist than zoomers. most of your generation bases their self worth off of validation from social media which encourages conformity. everything in your life is ran through a consensus filter of peer approval, something many millennials explicitly rejected. there's a lot of factors that led to this shift. for instance millenial women weren't overweight, had low self esteem and put out a lot so there wasn't a lot of pressure to conform to get laid and find a gf. i notice almost every time a zoomer replies to me its some incel screed about how i'll never get laid if i don't wear whats popular on social media. zoomers have a smaller pool of fuckable girls because obesity and they're all empowered girl bosses and have an app that gets them chad dick delivered to their house in 30 mins or less. >>18350425influencers started wearing these haircuts to hide that they're going bald and zoomers blindly started copying them.>Nobody has broccoli hair anymorei see it all the time in seattle but its been losing favor for that other comb-forward haircut they all get and mullets etc.
>>18350372You say 'it' but what is this 'it'?
>>18350356you're just old and out of touchzoomers subculture is hard to explain as easily as hipsters or scene girls, it's kind of this esoteric dadaist amalgamation of previous eras of fashion. most elements derived from y2k and late 90s, think big round/bubble sunglasses. high tech clothing mixed with homeless core. baggy washed or faded denim, not usually jnco level but skinny jeans are not in at all. elements of gorpcore, soccer/football jerseys, adidas, but never fully sports apparel outfits has to be limited to a couple pieces. tattoos, especially stick and pokes. it's not just clothing though, they make it's a whole personality, instagram / tumblr, music taste, all go together. like all subcultures i guess. with hipsters it was indie music like vampire weekend or something, with scene kids it was deathcore screamo grindcore shit like brokencyde or pierce the viel, avenged sevonfold. with this current subculture (what even is the name for it, i don't know) they listed to stuff like bladee, shed theory, 90s style rave music and drum and bass/breakcore/happyhardcore, dj gryotta zao, chopped and screwed, dean blunt, soundcloud rap, black kray. then there is fragments of even more niche subcultures that stem off of that. the youngest zoomers i have to say i don't know what typa shit they are gonna be, ultra memecore? all that being said i don't know what to make of it, it's kind of boring at times and makes me question what kind of hivemind mechanisms are occurring. makes you feel like everything is played out, that's why i just own a few cotton monks robes as my daily driver, have to wear a chef's coat when i'm working but otherwise pure comfort only, i just observe the microcosms of what's going on with regards to these types of things.picrel is just one example of the sort of thing i described, it'd probably be in a series with like a pic of something random on the next slide with some esoteric vague caption.
>>18352101I usually just describe zoomer fashion as "wigger but gay"
>>18352103that sums it pretty accurately.
>>18352103but gayER
>>18352101i don't think you really understand what subculture means.ah yes the "dj gryotta zao" table at lunch. surely a thing that exists at high schools across america.
>>18352101our music subcultures came out of local music scenes and the kids who went to raves/concerts/etc. it wasn't the kids who listened to rave music on headphones at home. not the same thing at all.most of our subcultures were formed out of hobbies and such. going to shows and being involved in a music scene was just one of said hobbies. examples: skaters, jocks, motocross guys, bmx guys, dudes who fly model planes etc.as i said zoomers are eternally online and grew up in very economically depressed times compared to the 80s to 2008. so these communities just never had a chance to form and most of you guys didn't really grow up with hobbies and actually doing things in the real world and forming irl communities in the way we did. its nothing wrong with zoomers its mostly just a side effect of internet/smartphones and shit global economy.
>>18352210It is pretty sad that when I was 18 a medium sized somewhat unknown band cost $30 to see and a headliner would be $40-60 and now it's $60 + fees for a small band and $90+ for a major act. The last time Glassjaw was in town I checked the prices and it was $100/ ticket with the fees. Last time I saw them it was $40 and they aren't any bigger than they were as a cult act. How do zoomers even afford to have a life at all these days? I could never have afforded this at 18 back when I would see 1-2 shows a month. It's no wonder they don't do much how the fuck are they expected to afford it. And it's not like low paying jobs have increased that much. I was getting like $13/hr for a first mall retail job back then and these days what do they pay, $16/hr for a shitty retail job? It just doesn't keep up with expenses.
>>18350356Hello
>>18352321if you want SAD look at the state of mainstream rap these days. $300-600 for tickets for the big name acts and i'm not exaggerating when i say this: its the norm now for them to just plug in the aux, play their track with vocals, and dance around. they don't even try to lip sync. its pathetic. not a fan of his but tyler the creator is the only big name mainstream act with a stage show & can actually rap anymore. absolute garbage. my bar is set by live shows like kool keith, living legends, strange music, and various bay area rappers at their peaks. not even really all that much into rap. i came up more in the local rave and metal scenes and i hardly listen to any of these genres anymore. i just can't help but notice the pathetic state rap's in right now.
>>18352351Well your first problem is listening to rap like a brainlet
>>18352351Kendrick?
>>18352354Bro youre so racist. My last name is kleinberg. And i take great offense to your opinion of rap. Jews run this country like a mafia. We are some of the first gangsters in america. Put some respect on rap.
>>18352321>How do zoomers even afford to have a life at all these days?lmao when i was a kid my parents probably spent so much money on all my retarded hobbies. competitive paintball, airsoft, real guns, hunting, motocross, atv's, always had the latest computer hardware, early internet adopters, everquest subscriptions for multiple accounts, model planes, fishing, model trains, sports cars as i got older etc. before 2008 america and its economy was a whole different world. so many of these old hobbies i had had their scenes murdered by the stock market crash. my parents went from rich to penniless overnight bc like many white boomers they were retards.
>>18352354rap's shit but live shows used to be fucking tight and you'd always leave with pussy cause girls actually went to rap shows.
>>18352354>like a brainletmeh i'm a pianist drummer and classically trained composer. autism math rock aphex twin type stuff gets boring after a while. music reviewers journalists and forum people & commenters have shit taste. sometimes you just wanna feel something.
>>18352365I've been listening to a lot of louis cole/knower and michael mcdonald/doobie brothers
>>18350356Zoomers really like juggalo stuff I heard
>>18350458Dudes a Breton
>>18350425there is objectively, irrefutably, literally zero zoomer culture except maybe "tiktok". meanwhile, millennials had the richest, deepest greatest, and final cultures of any generation
>>18352362Millennials are soiboy pussies.
>>18352710haha no. i'm a really good striker i would have you crying and grabbing your face begging me to stop in a couple seconds.
>>18352731I'd shove a broomstick up your ass
>>18352710at least they got pussy
>>18352528i saw doobie brothers at a chiller lowkey outdoor venue not that long ago, not normally my thing but i had a really good time.
Lulz i saved that pic for my gayass inspo folder circa 2007
>>18350458>dating apps are sex-delivery appskek, never thought about it that way
Zoomers are cultures unto themselves. We're all insane from information overexposure which has created very unique but also very unhinged creatures. Every generation has it's sheep, but more often than not a zoomer's inner monologue is some of the most out of pocket schizo shit you'll find, assuming you get us to open up to you.
>>18352735having a pussy doesn't count
>>18350356Terror op against Gen Z A and B. kids will be too scared to become criminals, as it should be. They will choose plain and conforming after three decades of watching hipsters getting rekt on national news by “far right” federal double agents believing in the illusion of freedom while othering themselves from the “failed loser millenials”. America is fucked basically.
>>18350458>the hipster subculture was pretty much single handedly conceived and popularized by gavin mcinnes back when he was running vice and vice was actually popular.have you ever actually heard the man speak? I definitely agree that there was a huge component of hipsterdom to Vice magazine, but Gavin himself was more like a Dane Cook type jock comic. Him becoming the voice of the Proud Boys wasn't as much of a left turn as people think, he was always problematic. Definitely did not represent the early "woke" element of the early 2010s "hipster" imagine.
>>18355354Hipsters are better represented by nick mullen and adam freidland. It was about being so self aware that you operate in a post post post irony and constantly compete to be the most cultured and have not only read the books you're supposed to read, watched the films you were supposed to watch, and listened to the music you were supposed to listen to that you ended up loving the fast and the furious and limp biskit again.
>>18352358The zoomers that don’t have social media money don’t actually do much in terms of activities The might go hiking, or like bowling once in awhile but they’re not building ATVs, or street racing or buying carbon fiber tanks for their paintball guns Some rich TikTok zoomers might but your average customer service zoomer isn’t
>>18352321I have to manage a lot of zoomers because the company I work for wants to expand, but like 75% of zoomers here straight up don’t have carsThey hired on zoomers 9-5 and I was just supposed to give them general tasks But instead I’m fucking scheduling their shifts like i work at a fucking retail chain And telling them to stop blowing vape clouds in my office
hipsters right now are heavy into indie/emo fashion at least in ny. don't know if there are any big trends in the other cities
>>18350425>a more varied and rich culture than millennials ever hadName and describe 5 elements of zoomer culture
>>18352365Do you listen to rap to feel dumb?
>>18350458Dawg this is too real, I think you won the internet for today
>>18355759>but like 75% of zoomers here straight up don’t have carsyou can blame obama and cash for clunkers for that. even gay communist furries agree it was a disaster of a program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZAhq375Wmweven though it happened a while ago those cars that got crushed back then are the ones zoomers would have been buying as their first car in high school. have you looked at the low end of the used car market lately? its fucked. >>18355354gavin stayed more in the background during the era of vice that birthed hipsterdom.>>18355362gavin isn't the best representative but he started the whole thing.
>>18352651Can confirm, I went to the bowling alley with some zoomers and they all showed up with juggalo face paint
>>18354684>America is fucked basicallyAmerica is fucked because you whiny faggots keep complaining and not doing anything. Maybe if you crybabies put a FRACTION of the energy you put into mindless babbling than the US wouldn't be "falling".
>>18356365That's a weird way of saying federal reserve
millennial """culture""">fred durst>vine>the office>bacon>le adulting>dial up internet>eating tide pods>moustaches>dude wipes
>>18357293tide pods was zoomers
>>18357293vine was a zoomer/xillenial thing. most millenials already graduated college when vine came out. i don't think much of jake paul's audience was millenials.
