I think they're increasingly popular with young men. Thoughts?
>>
>>18351143
would love to wear them, however, i'm 5'5''
>>
I saw a black guy trying to ear one a few years ago but he was under 6' so unfortunately he looked like he was playing house while wearing daddy's coat.

I think if you got it hemmed above the knee it would work in a pinch.

Do we think brosnan looks a touch silly here?
>>
>>18351143
i own one that looks almost exactly like that but in green. it is my walking around at night sad coat. i may be sad but i look cool.

2 ""fixable"" issues for short people with long coats:
1 most shorter people aren't actually slender, so the long coat makes them look really rounded
solution is being very thin, but you can't do that, if your natural frame isn't thin
2 coats are rarely decently tailored for short people, so even if you''re thin, shoulders of coats will be too large, making you appear even more rounded.
Coats always used to look baggy on me, because they weren't built for my frame, but getting them tailored changed everything

TLDR, you can wear coats if ur short, but you must have a thin frame, and get something reaaaally well tailored, pretty much something custom made.
>>
im 5'7.5"
always wore short jackets
pulled the trigger and got an overcoat that reaches below my knees
it makes me feeel so badass
if you're short literally just get a healthy bmi and rock these coats- they're great
>>
>>18351267
Shoulders are fine and dandy but what about length if one has a longer torso than legs.
>>
>>18351237
>>18351267
Overcoat aren't for manlets. Stick to puffers, hoodies, and chore coats.
>>
>>18351259
>I saw a black guy
You sure about that? Blacks don't wear overcoats.

I'm still waiting for the day when Frock Coats become a thing again. They might be formal, but there's no reason for them to be as rare as they are.
>>
>>18351143
I like overcoats they are cool and practical. They fit a more formal look and I'm not their yet so I'm not going to get one for a bit
>>
>>18351754
they won't
sadly

I have a bunch of over coats but haven't been able to wear them because it's been so hot this winter
>>
>>18351558
Not that anon but you are so wrong, go outside dude. Blacks are by far the most common wearers of overcoats where i live. They love dramatic coats.

I'm determined to make overcoat + hoodie look good for a white guy, but its difficult if done badly

Too much cringe out there of tryhards trying to be like like drake circa 2017, and its terrible

I just want the cozy
>>
>>18353762
hoodies aren't even that comfy.
It's wool sweater or nothing kiddo.
>>
>>18353710
Which is why traditionally places had places to put your coat. You wore the bigass coat while walking in the cold to places, then you took it off once you got in a warm building.
>>
>>18354670
are there ones that can be tucked up for work and stuff

What's your job?
>>
>>18351260
I wish I were you.
>>
>>18354677
Yes. Back in WWI, the trench coats used by the French were designed so that you could fold back the front part up and back, and button it to the sides to free up your legs for easier movement.
>>
>>18351237
I'm 5'4 and wear overcoats all the time. My tip is, always go for a small-midsized lapel,
because I've found while larger lapels are more stylish, they make your shoulders look much smaller, along with your neck.
Sometimes I ignore this rule, because large lapels are cool, but still.

As >>18351260
said, you really do have to be thin, my bmi is considered "severely underweight,' and sometimes I still look a little tubby, especially with 5+ layers underneath the overcoat.
Plus, I did get mine tailored but if you're getting a 250–400-dollar overcoat, you may as well spend 100-200 on tailoring.
>>
>>
>>18351143
I only see women wearing them.

I sincerely have no idea where you find these anymore or for that matter if they're even produced in anywhere near the same volume as they were several decades ago (at least within the US). I've scoured most of the major fashion retailers here and designer houses, and it's kinda shocking how sparse the selection of overcoats are throughout all of them. Honestly I'm at the point where I'm starting to think the most efficient way to find one with character nowadays is by finding them vintage / thrift shopping
>>
>>18358697
I got mine at a suit store in a mall, you can also find 1-2 option at men's warehouse, but I'd honestly recommend looking online if you know your measurements
>>
>>18358697
Vintage ones will be 1000% higher quality, even cheap union made ones because they were actually utilitarian garments not "statement pieces" like they are now
1950s deparment store clothes >>> average tailored stiff now

That you've never heard of "quiet luxury" says a lot

gives me a confidence boost

Where to decent cop overcoats?
>>
Teddy coat is the only true choice.
>>
I want one that's affordable enough to not stress about hand washing it every now and then.

Double breasted and knee or lower length as a 6'0" person in Europe. Wool or wool blend.

Impossible to find.
