Spezzato indicates an outfit in which top and bottom show a bold contrast in either color, pattern or material and it's something italians have always cherished, especially with tweed and denim.Classic menswear circles and influencers started picking this up recently as well (past 3 or 4 years), see permanentstyle, urbancomposition, dieworkwear, jkf_man and the likes.The tweed + denim + penny loafers combo also has strong Ivy'esque connotations, which is what I was going for here.
