Anon trying to abandon all black wardrobe here.

I decided to leave black below waistline and change the top. I went with greens, some neutrals and white and I hated it expect for white but in white you can see the colour of my nipple underneath and I don't like that. I'm thinking maybe too neutral colours aren't for me. I am thinking of going with red and purple on the upper half of my body.

Is that a good idea? People here seem to go for neutrals only and I wonder if mayhaps I have gone insane. But I can't wear all black anymore - I feel like it makes me look bad and has always done so and I'm finally ready to move on.

i can't pull off striking colours like that so i am not going to give you any probably wrong advice beyond just going for it. i see plenty of people who make it work everyday.

I feel like I can't pull off neutrals so good for you! I am having trouble finding pieces. Most shops sell only neutrals or have prints on them and I hate branding/prints. :/

And I don't really think of striking colours per-se, I am mostly hung-up on wine red and having troubles finding upper body clothes in it WITHOUT prints/branding. :(

why

It doesn't suit me. I started working a uniformed job where they forced colour upon me and I look significantly better. I now believe upper body looks best when the shade relatively matches your skin. I've seen a man looking amazing with black shirt and white trousers but his skin was darker. I look good with darker trousers and lighter upper body.

I ended up going more with interesting textures, materials etc. I will see where it goes once the stuff arrives. I have my hopes up. I got approval from my friend who makes a living working as a stylist (not that I wanted/needed it, but just to get a point across).

Try some white sneakers with whatever accents you like, they usually go well with black or darker pants, that way you can ease into it withdifferent outfits

Not really sure how to answer this. Have you considered that the colors aren't the problem and you're just picking tops that look bad? The "I won't wear white because all the white things I bought are transparent" gives it away. Look for white tops that aren't made poorly and aren't transparent.

>is it a good idea to where color?
Yes! Not everyone looks good in neutrals and muted earth tones. I'm like you, wearing all neutral colors or anything muted kills my spirit, I feel washed out and flat in them. I look better in bright colors so my wardrobe is filled with them. My 'neutrals' amount to various shades of denim, everything else I own has color and pattern.

Count yourself lucky, not a lot of people can pull off a colorful wardrobe, or at least most people don't try. It makes you stand out in a good way.

You find your best colors when you're at your palest. Riff from there. Test a lot of stuff. It must make your neck look good and you must not "disappear" or look too muted. That is all.

Yea neutral-neutrals make my neck look bad. You put it into words. I am very pale at all times.

Cheers, mate.

Why
>>
>>18360821
Because it looks bad on me. I came to realise dark colours look good on dark skin and light colours look good on light skin. I'm as pale as they come.

Also, for dark skinned people dark upper body with light trousers looks great. For pales, upper body should stay light and trousers should be dark.
