are they a meme or do they actually stay put ? I am looking at some nice wool boot socks that are 100% wool but I can't seem to imagine they'd actually stay on my leg all day. Do I just get a blend instead?
anons told me that they fall apart very very fast, im not sure if it's true though

>>18357696>>18357711you live a very sedentary lifestyle. i go on months long hikes where you blow through multiple pairs of socks and boots. i know how long stuff lasts down to the mile. you get about 120-150miles out of non blend socks if they're dense and tightly woven. i'd be shocked to get 200. that can be a bit over a week for me.
100% wool is fine for casual/dress socks but dont expect to get a ton of mileage out of them.you can negate most durability issues by learning how to darn your socks.nylon blend ones will always last a lot longer. its there for a reason. its been a common inclusion since ww2. its not a modern trend or to cheapen it, its there for very common sense reasons: nylon is stronger, dries faster, resists pilling, shrinks less, will make the wool matt/felt less, retain shape better, and be less scratchy. downside is it reflects light different, and isn't as nice of a hand feel or as luxurious. sometimes blending fabrics gets you a best of both worlds sometimes a worst of both worlds. wool/nylon blend isn't a bad blend. blended wool is GOOD for functional wool garments like jackets, socks, etc. and BAD for luxurious wool garments like a cashmere sweater or something. i have very expensive high end exotic wool hats/gloves/socks/etc that have a bit of nylon blended in them intentionally. definitely not a cost cutting measure. something like socks or a heavy wool jacket i don't mind it in. something like a soft cashmere sweater i would avoid it like the plague in.
>>18357696If you cant find durable 100percent wool socks a good natural alternative to the nylon blends and wool /linen blends. The linen is very strong too and even better at wicking moisture than nylon. The sock wont be totally soft or warm, as you might be used too but its still good. Maybe better for summer but I wear mind in the winter and they make for great office socks.
