is there a way to not look like a fucking nerd when using glasses?

any specific frames?

Not when you're young
When you're older no one cares about glasses though
>>
As someone who had to wear glasses since age ten, this: >>18365674 I got a pair of Tom Ford wayfarers and got a handful of compliments on them. But until my 30's I looked like Rivers Cuomo no matter what.

Start by acknowledging this for yourself:

I can look good in glasses. Some glasses won't look good on me, but they look good on others, and that's okay. If these glasses don't look good on me, that's my fault for making a poor choice, and that's okay. I don't have to wear glasses, and I don't have to not wear glasses; both are okay.

Now, a few basic tips:
Avoid the common "incel" glasses. Think stuff like the attached picture. They tend to not look great, and don't have any kind of strong impression.
Avoid rimless glasses. They are easily broken.
Find a store with a competent salesperson and ask them to pick out glasses for you. Your goal is to pick glasses that look cool and highlight your face and fashion. You will probably need help with that.

thin frames large lens>thick frames small lens
simple as that
>>
>>18365668
Thin metal frames in a rounded square shape, avoid contrasting details or gloss, pick a colour that matches your skin tone. Never the thick plastic shit like what you posted or other social media shilled fads.

>how to not look like a fucking nerd

Personally I think glasses that look a little too big for your face, with more of a rounded/square look (as opposed to rectangular) tend to be a little more stylish. I rotate between a pair of Warby Parker Wrights (pic related), and a classic ray-ban aviator frame. Depends on what outfit I'm wearing. The aviators are more my summer glasses (look better with a sleezy shorts/t-shirt fit), and the warby parkers are more for winter.

Also be fit. No one looks like a fucking nerd when they're shredded.

Try clear frames, I've used them for the past few years
>>
Contacts have existed for decades and LASIK is cheap. There is zero reason to wear glasses in 2025.

Eye surgery wouldn't work on me and I can't stand putting stuff on my eyeballs.
>>
Frames that would work for a skinhead? I have tortoise shell rounded glasses but those don't work unless I am wearing a suit.

have you heard what happens when lasik goes wrong? it also lasts like 10 years before you need glasses again
>>
>>18367366
They're actually good, that's why they're expensive. I always have a laugh when I go in a store and pick up Gucci or Versace frames. They feel like gas station glasses, I would be afraid to wear them because they'd break so easily. Good brands are the same price but with interesting designs and excellent material and workmanship.
>>
>>18367363
You can probably find cheap glasses that look good, they will just be kind of basic and be shit quality. It depends on what you want and how much you care. If you wear glasses regularly, I think you should absolutely not skimp. You wear different clothes every day but you are always wearing those glasses, so make them an investment.
>>
>>18367366
>They're obnoxiously large and plastic
>Starved for other people's attention, frames
Yeah, I can understand why they're $600.
>>

Go to a store that offers alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll kinds of frames and try them alllllllllllllllllllllll on. Get the dimensions (there's always at least 3 different sizing measurements for each frame) and write them down.
They're going to be your eyewear; pick ones you like.

You can "shop" online, later, once you've established the style and size you like. You can filter away "women's" and "rimless" or only view "metal" or something and then it becomes sort of fun to "shop" for frames you recognize as good-looking and then finding which brands/providers offer the PERFECT measurements for your face... and then purchase the whole kit to fit your prescription at the best sale price from the highest quality manufacturer.

It'll probably cost $200 to get the perfect pair (frames, lenses, accessories) + some discount for another pair/sunglasses to go with 'em. When it costs more, it's likely "LOOK AT MEEEEEEE" frames, not really very useful.

don't get scammed, I got a pair of lemtosh from china a year ago for $20, shit feels very sturdy and has decent quality hinges, the shape is perfect. Haven't had issues with them, they're probably made in the same factory moscot gets their frames from.

Frames prices and the whole luxotica thing is a huge scam.
>>
>>18367509
>moscot
I've been considering getting Schlep eyeglasses and Shtarker sunglasses from Moscot for my next pair, but you're right; at $400 that's fucking obscene for what I want to claim look fairly generic. (Though I do want my frames to look generic) Honestly, the fact they offer clip-ons is the main reason I've even considered them. I want clip-ons. My vision needs distance focus, so I really only wear them when driving (sunglasses), shopping (groceries), or hiking (nature is pretty), and I've discovered it's quite frankly very, very, very useful to have clip-on shades that I can just take off and put in my breast pocket rather than carry around two pairs of eyewear. So, I want a brand that offers GOOD clip-ons...

Otherwise I'll just get some $50 Cocoons.

I have like 20 pairs of Lemtosh + a real one.
Because this frame is copied extensively, you can find good and bad quality clones. The bad quality ones feel like basic plastic, they're bendy - with the worst one being so bad that I'll never actually use it.
The best quality ones are very close to the original, I would even say they feel a bit more sturdy and have held up better through time. The difference is that the edges of the frame, where they meet the edges of the arms, the copies have some slight imperfections and they don't have a perfect seal or the edges extend a tiny bit more than they should. It doesn't matter functionally or visually.

I also recently bought a replica JMM (I didn't know this was a famous brand, lmao), along with a couple generic frames. These are all literally perfect, and the JMM one especially feels like the most premium thing I've ever touched, makes my real Moscots (which I paid 350 euro for 10 years ago) feel like a toy.

So yeah, do take a chance and order 4-5 frames you like from Alie and I'd say most of them will be hits quality wise, and you can have a few pairs of glasses made to change based on your outfit as opposed to having the same one frame which also gets progressively more trashed.
